Lever action

What is your favorite lever action?
What is the best, if not your favorite?
What is the best caliber?

I have a Winchester model 88 that is chambered in .308 and it's a great gun

I saw one of these in my lgs, but I already have a Savage model 99 in .300 savage and a bunch of ammo for it

Been wanting a pre-64 model 94 for a while. Cabela's always has a few but they're always overpriced.

I have a nice Marlin 336A with a receiver sight. It was probably built in the 70's, no crossbolt safety, 1/2 magazine.

Marlin 94 is my favorite, because I own one.

It is a new 1984c in 357 mag and is actually my first lever gat. I have shot a winchester 94 and handled a marlin 336 before though.

Honestly one of my favorite guns that i own. Lighweight, slim, sexy, fun, and somewhat capable. Hot 357 mag loads in a 18" bbl is no joke. Capacity is 9+1.

Best caliber? That's highly dependent on your use and geography obviously. I like 357 mag because I can hunt with it (ohio) and its cheap to shoot (i reload too).

Otherwise, 30-30 is probably the best all around cartridge.

I like to shoot my guns alot, so 357/38 is great.

Same here, I own a marlin 1894 in .44 mag. So legal in Ohio too. The .44 packs a pretty good punch and knocks down any deer it hits. Its shame you didn’t get an old JM marlin. The old ones are a lot better in finish and don’t have that wretched cross bar safety.

That’s the most emaciated deer I’ve ever seen. Jesus, watch out for parasites with that one, dude.

My Marlin 336 chambered in .35 Remington. Fucking love this thing, but I don't reload so I don't shoot it often.

Already been gutted

Bought this for the wife, she’s been pining over it for a year can’t wait to see the look on her face on Christmas morning, but me personally I would prefer a 45-70

I'm pretty fond of the Savage 99.

Marlin 1894 in .44RM too. I'm planning on putting some XS sights on it plus a rail. Got any idea for for a +/- $200 red dot scope that I could mount on it ?

Why not just use a revolving chamber at that point?

Revolver carbines have less accuracy and velocity because of the cylinder gap. Then there's the part where a double-action trigger on a rifle-length revolving cylinder is going to be upwards of 20 pounds, the possibility of a hangfire blowing up your gun and your support hand, etc... That and it'll probably be heavier and cost more.

Just makes me think there has to be a better way. I guess magazines.

They also made a box mag version.

Picking up a 1947 Model 94 tomorrow for $350 :^)
