Just installed a flat trigger. Would switching to curved trigger guard increase or lower aesthetics?
The trigger is much better than the mil spec one I had and I like that it almost looks like one piece with the current trigger guard. Downside is that the FCA is crowded and wearing winter gloves will be problematic

What tools do I need to put together a stripped lower/kit aside from punches? From what I've read I may be able to forgo or just substitute punches with something else as well

Stripped lower: Punches, Some sort of tape (electrical, masking, duct,really anything that isnt packing tape), Hammer, Allen key or screwdriver for pistol grip screw (depends on your lpk), castle nut wrench/a2 extension wrench depending on what exactly youre building and a large plastic bag will make getting the front detent in a lot easier.
Stripped upper: Torque wrench, bench vise, barrel nut wrench (if your handguard didnt come with one), allen key or punch depending on your gasblock, maybe a drill+jig if you want to dimple your barrel for gas block, muzzle device wrench, punch for your gas tube rollpin, ideally an upper vise block and aeroshell grease for threads.
Personally I lube my detent springs and detents with a little bit of grease going in because I live in a salt spray environment. Ive never really needed a lower vise block unless staking a buffer tube, however that makes it a lot easier if you plan to do multiple.
>From what I've read I may be able to forgo or just substitute punches with something else as well There are people who crush the bolt release roll pin in with channel locks or vise grips but thats not really good for the roll pin and mushrooms one end of it. So if you ever have to remove the guy its likely going to peen the shit out of your bolt release pin hole. You can get a set of punches (you really only need one) off amazon for like $10 shipped. Dont skip the castle nut wrench either or you wont be able to tighten your castle nut. I have seen people install castle nuts with just punches on the merlons/masticulations with a punch. However, this will make your gun look like shit as it will deform them pretty hard.
