nogunz here, do you guys recommend one of these new model 19s to learn to shoot and manage the trigger

No. They are overly expensive but worth it for nostalgia. They are fine revolvers, but its your first gun id recommend something less expensive to learn on and make mistakes with.

makes sense, ill probably go with a used 870/500/590 and a used smith in 38 k frame for the first firearms

Probably either the hand nugget or the webley.

Lotta revolver threads lately.

As always, my .357 GP100

38 k is a good option. Later after you find out of you like shooting. Save up the cash, get a 686 from the custom shop with ALL the work done. Pay once, cry once.

Hands down and I have a couple dozen revolvers.

Is the Raging Judge a meme or is it actually of acceptable quality despite being Taurus?

My current favorite just because it's a work in progress. Bobbed the hammer today. Waiting on a jig to install a ball detent in the yoke for lockup. After that I'll chop the front of the trigger guard and be in full Fitz Special mode.

Attached: 100_2533.jpg (2048x1536, 704K)

I think the bob came out breddy good.

And just to share..this gun was made circa 1942 in .38S&W. Shipped over to England for WWII. Came home and had the cylinder reamed for .38spl, the lanyard hole plugged and then chopped to 2" bbl, new front sight installed and re-blued. 77ish years later it's still getting fucked with...lol

The Colt saa. Pic not related

Attached: 72796250030-2.jpg (600x600, 53K)

Too bad I'll never own or fire one

Attached: 400px-MerwinHulbertnickel.jpg (400x177, 18K)

Oh shit. Not a fan of nickle/chrome on guns.

But that's purdy

I far prefer blued guns but there's nothing wrong with the shiny...

Attached: 100_2482.jpg (2048x1536, 862K)

>ribbed fluting

but why

Because there's not enough places on a revolver to collect fouling?

Maybe for a little more grip on the cylinder while reloading. It could make certain revolvers look really nice too.

If I had the money, Korth

Why has the Model 28 gotten to be as expensive as the Model 27?

Nogunz here, but I really like the ruger Blackhawk, and plan on getting on when I turn 21

Attached: Screenshot_20181224-181934_Google.jpg (1076x737, 87K)

Because a lot of youngfags only see "pre-lock" and don't know shit about why a 27 is superior.

I'd say they are a safe bet. They literally can't jam and are accurate by design. The trigger is crisper than any auto, too.

I'll never even see one in my life but I really like the real weird stuff a real lot, okay

Looks whack bro

Probably my 1932 target masterpiece.

Attached: rsz_img_20181212_150717679_hdr.jpg (2016x1512, 453K)

If I had to own one handgun it would be my 686.

Attached: rsz_img_20181021_201459729.jpg (1512x2016, 647K)

If by that you mean it’ll whack the shit out of something 200 yards away then yeah you right

Honestly that thing is fun as hell to shoot. It's a nice little Sunday plinker and I'll cherish mine till the day I die.

I'd never actually want to own one since there's no cartridge firing versions available (though that you can buy third party conversion cylinders, which sound a little unsafe to me). Despite that they're beyond beautiful guns, especially with the fluted cylinder.

>literally cant jam
I love revolvers, but that is bullshit, and you're confirmed for never owning one.
Revolvers have more moving parts then a semi, and those moving parts can be easily cleared.

I like the look of the super blackhawk hunter, but ruger needs a better scooe mounting system. Their proprietary divits and rings are such trash.

Newfag here

I’m trying to decide between a gp100 and 686. Everyone says the gp100 won’t have as many issues (forcing cone damage, going out of time, frame stretch, internals breaking, etc) but I thought the L frame was used on .44 magnum whereas GP100s only come in .44 special, so isn’t the 686 stronger?

Attached: A82EE0E8-CC90-4F4D-AB94-378B36D41ADD.png (420x420, 460K)

Gp100.
If you absolutely need a .44 mag, get a super blackhawk, or a Redhawk.

Why the gp100 though? Isn’t it the weaker .357 design?

I’d be okay with some of its issues (bulkiness, possibly could use a trigger job) if it was more durable than the 686.

Looks even more whack

You're over thinking the fuck out of buying a revolver. Both will last more than a lifetime.

Bruh I’m getting one as a weekly 125gr 357 shooter. I tried an sp101 at my local range (their only revolver so I can’t try these other two), and I’m just after full house magnum shooting so yeah I’d think durability would come into play.

No, look at any reloading manual, rugers can always handle hotter loads than smiths.
Even if that wasnt the case, the ruger is cheaper, with Smith you're paying a premium for the name, and smiths have been having quality issues latley.
But regardless what are you doing? Running the hottest handles possible regularly through it? If so you still want a ruger anyways though.

>I'm gonna shoot 125 gr basic bitch range ammo weekly
>*thinks either gun cant handle this*
If it wasnt for SWs QC issues of late I'd say fo whatever, but as of right now, ruher revolvers are made better, and cheaper.

Really? What’s so bad about them? I’m going to be buying the bisely within a month and honestly haven’t heard anything bad about the rings or dovetails, and now you’ve got me curious

You don't need to use stock shit.

LCR bro! You pocket carry? It's my favorite carry method with my LCR. Forget it's there, have 5 rounds of get off me at a moments notice.

That looks awful. More pics plz maybe I'll change my mind. I hate seeing picatinny on handguns, especially revolvers.

Yes

The rings are a total bitch to get straight.

I like all my spinbois equally. But I like my ladysmith a little more than the rest.

my model 10 is still my favorite handgun I own

125 grain 357, not 38

>GP100s only come in .44 special
wtf are you smoking nigger
>.22 lr
>.327 fed mag
>.357 mag
>.44 spl
>10 mm auto

If you hand load, you can push that .44 special into lower magnum territory out of a gp100. The kind of loads that would destroy a charter arms bulldog

Good pup

I obviously meant that’s the max the frame can handle

Neither is gonna handle a lifetime if 125 grain magnum loads, but the gp100 being the more durable of the two is well known.

“Well known” = fudd lore

well thought out = there are .44 magnum L frames but not GP100s

Call Ruger and ask them why they don't make a 44 mag gp100, fuck. One dumb assumption is not "well thought out".

By this logic, the only correct choice would be an N frame .357 (which would go out of time quicker than any of the other options)

I like the old 38 special police revolvers

Uberti makes a hybrid with an unfluted cylinder but still a damn interesting factory cartridge revolver, user. I own one in .45 Colt (wanted the biggest bore for MEMES but the loading gate is optimized for .44 and below so I have to hold the cylinder against the stop before loading, should have got the damn .44 or .38)

Smith and Wesson Pinto Pre-Model 27

Attached: download (1).jpg (1200x845, 63K)

It literally doesn't matter. The 686 may be slightly stronger but both are overbuilt for the cartridge. You'll run out of money before they run out of time.

If you want a stupidly durable .357 da/sa get a Redhawk.

Took the SBH to the range today. Thinking about getting a press and some .44 dies.

Attached: SBH&HRR.jpg (1280x720, 118K)

In terms of strength, yes. An N frame would be strongest. The whole point was that the 686 is the stronger of the two, not what the strongest possible revolver would look like.

Running out of time isn’t nearly as much an issue as running out of forcing cone.

Attached: TOTT_8_target.jpg (1086x610, 566K)

They work fucking great.

A big, burly frame only makes it stronger in the sense that the frame won't fail, which isn't where durability issues in revolvers come from. Forcing cone erosion, end shake, and timing issues are the thing to worry about. Using a steady diet of 125 grain magnum loads is about the worst thing you can do to the forcing cone, and the heavier the cylinder, the quicker the end shake and timing will become an issue

aesthetic and shoots better than any other gun i have

My model 28-2, iirc its a 1978, the grips came with the gun and have definitely been there a while.

Yes and in every aspect the smith is stronger

You couldn't run a business based just on Model 10s there are too many of them on the market. It would be impossible to be a boomer jew with them like that one dude who runs a business based on having a room full of Lugers.

obviously you wont be sitting on a pile of sheckles from model 10s like lugers or m1 carbines or some shit, but pawnshops can make a pretty penny on them
>nig/old widow/old guy who has no idea what the market price of a revolver is or simply doesn’t care walks in
>i’ll make you a $100 loan, or give you $150 for it
>sell it for $250-$450

duh you can make money off them but faggot suggested based info poster was running a model 10 jew shop.

>Glock breaks after thousands of rounds and countless jams
>everything breaks eventually, it's still reliable
>revolver breaks after thousands of rounds and zero jams
