WW3 without ballistic missiles

What would happen if anti-ballistic missile technology advanced to the point that even the sneakiest of missile attacks could be defeated with directed energy weapons?

Like not even a submarine right off the coast of the US could land a hit without a laser immediately tracking and destroying all the warheads. Hypervelocity glide vehicles, hiding ICBMs in airliners and disguising nuclear weapons as space junk in satellite launches would have no effect.

Like a next-gen BMEWS/PAVE PAWS system hooked up to a massive laser defense system that meant anything hypersonic and fitting the profile of an attack would be plinked instantaneously.

Seeing as the US is putting massive amounts of funding into rendering ballistic missiles useless, could we see a world where WW3 ends up like the 1950s against with low-flying strategic bombers being the main delivery system?

Hypersonics. Russian and Chinese Hypersonics.

They will dominate the battlefield and render all US defenses obsolete.

period.

>using laser tech for defence
>are even airplanes allowed?
can they use lasers to attack?

Implessive

Yeah, they're already developing lasers that don't just overheat engines of rockets but ones that can't be used to shoot down aircraft, but you can't fire a laser at a plane if it's obstructed by terrain.

>but ones that can't be used to shoot down aircraft

*can be used

>sneak-land a Megaton nuke inside a truck
>park it in a city
Done

A hypersonic weapon would still be vulnerable to a directed energy weapon.

If you look at the Russian tsunami torpedo nuke, which may be a total bluff and all this talk about HGVs it really looks like they consider US ABM developments more than just a thing to force them to use extra missiles on high-value targets just in case and like they actually don't trust their Topols and Satans anymore.

It seems like they fear ABM lasers and are switching back to doomsday yields to say if the US has some advanced ABM up their sleeve, if one Russian missile gets through it means it won't be worth it for NATO to launch an attack with massive ABM superiority.

If any of you saw those ATFLIR "UFO" "Disclosures" with the 2004 Nimitz incident and I think the 2015 one off the east coast, that followed a leak in 2015 about the Nimitz incident where the naval aviators talked about those "Tic Tacs" that had insane speed and maneuverability and how they appeared to be coming from a submerged platform. Right after that 2015 leak was when the Russians did the fake leak about the Status-6 doomsday torpedo.

The "To The Stars" videos released were done by a front group linked to the State Department & John Podesta - remember his emails to blink 182 about alien disclosure which is obvious bullshit.

youtube.com/watch?v=6rWOtrke0HY This one and the navy pilot interviews on news channels were done as a veiled threat to Russia. The NAS commander knew full well about the test and the purpose of this was to collect data on the effectiveness of the Tic Tacs maneuvering against state-of-the-art fighter jets and how they appeared on Arleigh Burke radars. I don't think those Hornet pilots believed for a second that it was ET.

youtube.com/watch?v=26vx-EfVD8g This one summarizes the Nimitz sightings in much more detail

I think Russia shat bricks over the Hornet pilots confirming what they saw and realized the US was testing EMdrive drones launched from submarines based on the eyewitness accounts.

The 2015 leak was in an aviation magazine, the confirmation and release of the footage was 2017.

If you look at the Russian/Chinese posturing it smacks of Able Archer-esque panic. Why would they be switching to HGVs/FOBS and claiming they have cobalt tsunami stealth torpedoes unless they had serious fears about US ABM capabilities?

Remember they're always constantly trying to spy on the US and get info on black projects. It seems that Russia fears its current nuclear deterrent is becoming obsolete but if you looked at the declared operational anti-missile defense like the Arleigh Burke BMD, ground midcourse defense and HELLADS that really wouldn't do shit to an all-out ICBM strike.

It seems like they believe the US has black projects including ABM lasers and something that can plink their fixed silos and Topols, something like stealth drones that turn on a dime and go at hypersonic speeds and make no sound. The nuclear powered infinite range torpedo really does seem desperate and fearful like they expect total denial of the air.

Also, a big 100 knot torpedo coming across the Atlantic, isn't that just going to just cavitate like crazy and show up on SOSUS and have an F/A-18 drop a B-61 on it before it even gets close?

This is a spooky thread.

EMdrive was proven to be dumb pesudoscience, and it was only ever claimed to put out a minuscule amount of thrust, though?

>EMdrive was proven to be dumb pesudoscience

It wasn't proven, the bong was blabbing about it openly and the US NDA'd him and sent glowniggas to his house and got him to work for them. They said it was BS after his claim but they were testing it for over a decade. It's fairly obvious why they would want to discredit it, savant scientists aren't going to always understand militarization and be thinking about people strapping a nuke to their invention.

>If you look at the Russian tsunami torpedo nuke, which may be a total bluff and all this talk about HGVs

I've discounted your entire post and thread based on the fact you believe Tsunami nukes are a thing. Physics says no. Really says no. The only thing we have learned from Chinese and Russian bullshitting is they are afraid.

>"which may be a total bluff"

You just discounted yourself

>Physics says no. Really says no.
Not really. The purpose of 100MT torpedo is not creating a tsunami, it's an old story about Saharov mixed with the new story. Point of that weapon is creating a masses of radioactive water. Technically, there are not very much obstacles for that drone. The bomb is not the problem, Russians can build it. Small reactor with liquid metal as a heat transfer agent - Russians can build it, they do have expertise in this area. Structure capable of ultra deep water diving - again, Russians can do that and it's a well known fact about their expertise in that area.

This is an 80ft torpedo allegedly traveling at 100 knots, is there really any way of getting an object to travel at 100kts without sonars and underwater hydrophones getting a near exact fix on it from far, far away?

In 1986 that 'Hostile Waters' incident basically showed that Soviet SSBN patrols couldn't operate undetected off the US coast and they were being tailed by US attack submarines 24/7. That was over 30 years ago. They'd have to fire that torpedo salvo off West Africa if they wanted to live and there's no way it wouldn't be heard or detected. They're claiming they're putting deterrence patrols with 400MT yields out yet even since the 90s they had to hide their sub deterrent under the arctic ice because there was nowhere else to hide and now they're claiming they can run atlantic patrols?

I thought this was going to be some weird system where they put a seabed launcher up near the north pole and had a slow moving torpedo make its way over to the US over the course of days but they're claiming 100 knot torpedos fired from oscar class subs which just seems like it would be spotted a thousand miles away and you could just fire Pershing III missiles at it.

This scenario makes hypersonic weapons useless so shut up. Russian and Chinese hypersonics would lead to a lack in air defense and allow simple US missiles to attack Chinese/Russian targets.

Probably not even low flying strategic bombers, even a portable megawatt range laser AA would only probably have to hit it with a couple rounds of pulses to ignite something vital, modern engines are extremely complex and operate at high tolerances, having a couple scores of quarter sized holes cut into them is at the very least going to cripple a modern aircraft's capability to fly for any reason that isn't an emergency landing. Non-portable lasers powered by several banks of gas turbine generators or connected to a power grid are going to be even more powerful, like cut-a-plane-in-half powerful, or if slightly de-focused they could superheat and ignite large patches of a plane's airframe or instantaneously blind it's pilots through even thick protective canopies. In the tens of megawatts range a Near-UV laser will cut through metal nearly as easily as it cuts through air from tens or even a hundred kilometers distance, depending on the size and quality of the laser's focusing mirrors and aperture. Anything within this weapon's line of sight will be in threat as even if the target is beyond the laser's instant kill range it can still begin to deliver damage several times further out, a plane might be well outside of a laser's cutting range but still be close enough that the laser can heat it's airframe till it glows red hot and loses it's structural properties. Also beam diffraction in atmosphere is highly overrated, a weapons grade laser will probably not lose more than 25% of it's strength on a trip all the way through all of Earth's atmosphere into space, it's ability to kill is limited by only two things, how far away it can focus it's beam to a sufficiently lethal level, and whether or not a target is within it's line of sight.

Seems cool but doesn't it seem more likely the US is faking all this evidence to trick Russia into believing they have working EMdrives

SOSUS has been upgraded to DRAPES. If you mean the Status-6 Kanyon nuclear powered UUV 'torpedo', its not supercavitating. And the one that IS doesn't have the range you suggest. thediplomat.com/2016/11/us-navy-upgrading-undersea-sub-detecting-sensor-network/

It's traveling 100 knots at a final stage. Not a whole time, but final minutes, even seconds.

The slow crawling turtle speed attack to minimize noise and detection. The Kanyon could be a way to start the first salvo.
What's stopping the Russians or Iranians from planting nuclear mines or slow crawling robots to pre-deploy a choke point attack at say Gibraltar, the Strait of Hormuz, or the English Channel.
Put robot or slow torp out , wait a day for the carrier group to come in range. Boom. break the keels of 20 ships as the first naval strike ?

What are the chinese hiding in the so called 3000 miles of tunnels? A whole array of massive chemical powered lasers?

Nukes don’t exist. It’s fake like the moon landing. Why? To instill order and prevent uprisings after ((ww2)).

dropping metal rods from space is pretty ebin
