I don't think Israel is interested in defence here, I think they're interested in expansion. There is no conceivable reason why Iran would or could 'destroy' Israel. If they used nukes, it would be some sort of genocidal plot to kill all the Jews and there's more Jews in the US than Israel so it would be a waste of a genocide. They can't conventionally invade Israel because the US would stomp them.

Why does Israel spend some of that defense money the US gives them and build space hotels in the Negev or some shit instead of trying to salami slice the neighboring countries? That's what this is all about, they only populate a fraction of Israel and the majority of the landmass is uninhabited because it's so arid, why don't they terraform it with all the US taxpayer money they get?

For every tiny bit of land they get or every little proxy war victory they get they get another thousand muslims angry or another thousand college students joining BDS.
