Buy a good sharpening stone(or high grit sandpaper) and a strop with compound. Get that edge razor sharp and keep it there.
>muh knife
Picked up a Svord VT Bowie as a fuck about knife for bedroom duty and occasional field abuse, it was between this and a kukri but i decided i liked frontier memery more than ghurka ones right now, plus im not a huge fan of big blades without guards or particularly lopsided blade designs. Mine seems to be a bit of a friday afternoon example although svord isnt exactly known for amazing QC, with the grind of the clip point being noticeably off for example, but it grew on me too quickly to send back over cosmetics. Hefty bitch that mics in a .27", real epitome of "long enough to use as a sword, sharp enough to use as a razor, wide enough to use as a paddle, and heavy enough to use as a hatchet.". Right now it'll fillet receipts but i haven't gotten around to stropping it up to a real fine edge yet.

Turquoise and copper coated so I dont get witch finger
>get that edge razor sharp and keep it there
It sure seems like its already there but you're right I need some proper sharpening supplies now.

The rifle is still being built from a parts kit. Hopefully I can get it finished in the next few months.

Nice Ka=Bar

Just bought a K31 bayonet (arguably the most aesthetic of bayonets), and ny wife bought me a bayonet for my m96.

Why aren't bayonets talked about more often on this board anyway? It's such a shame you only ever hear about them if an user bought a matching one with his latest milsurp purchase.

>pic related, but not mine

Attached: 9k9ytw.jpg (800x533, 47K)

Stick it on a gun for us? For me, its transporting in a case and all that. Unless I had an SKS which I don't it seems like a hassle to bother.

>Why aren't bayonets talked about more often on this board anyway?
Jow Forums by and large doesnt really like bayonets outside of milsurp related larp greentexts TBQH. To be fair though they don't have a whole lot of use outside of niche things like medium sized dangerous game hunting and militaria wall hangers these days. Just about the only thing i could see using one for(""practically"") would be if i was gonna go boar hunting with a milsurp rifle or had to use one for HD in which case i guess it would be worth it's weight though id pray to god i didn't actually need to use the thing. This board has a somewhat weak blade culture in general and bayonets tend to kinda fall under the radar of both the gun enthusiasts and those fewer blade enthusiasts as little more than curiosities as both groups have more practical or flashy choices for their day to day needs. That's why you largely see them being talked about by milsurp enthusiasts in a "hey isn't this neat too" sort of way instead of having weekly aids ridden bayonet general threads.

Some bayonets are just pretty nice knives, especially for what you’ll pay for them. Good examples are the M7 and the Vz. 58 bayonet, Others are kinda lousy knives on their own and don’t make much sense at all without the rifles they attach to.

No ot won't. Those stick tangs are shit, he'll probably break it from just dropping it.

Alright boys let's hear it tell us why the kabar who's manufacturer has never gone out of business or changed hands and has only varied and strengthened their products since WWII is bad. Please remember that greentexting my last sentence with a reaction picture is not an argument and battoning is fucking retarded and wood is not that difficult to find if you were stranded with no hatchet

Got a new laguiole from my brother :)

Could you guys suggest me a good sharpening system for longer blades?
I got a lansky 4 rod box that I use for my folder knives, but, unless I'm wrong, you're supposed to use a rod larger than your blade size.

Attached: 20181225_162521.jpg (4128x3096, 3.69M)

Heres the M96 and K31. The difficulty with the swede is that the barrel is thread for the BFAs they used for training. So I have to either remove the flash hider they made after the fact (which looks kind of weird on there anyway), or find a low profile thread protector for it.

Also, forgive the shitty image quality. Phone camera lense broke and had dirt get inside before it could be repaired, so image quality is garbage.

This actually makes a good amount of sense.

Winchester or not... looks like a cheap gas station knife to me.

Winchester doesn't make them, m8. They're just the most common stamp on millions of identical cheap chinese knives.

Attached: winchester-bowie-knife-review-300x200.jpg (300x200, 16K)

I know... They are just like nearly every other knife under a Gun brand. Normally made in China, often by Taylor brands. Generally shit...

They don't make them, but it's still a Winchester branded knife. So when I say
>Winchester or not...looks like a cheap gas station knife to me
My point stands. With or with out the name Winchester on the side, it's still likely a chinessium knife.

Meant to reply to , not you, defensive Davey.

If I'm not innawoods when would I ever need anything besides the blade on my Leatherman? Not being a dick, legitimately asking?

You can make do with just a multi tool, but it is nice to have a little fixed blade for bushcraft work. More comfortable to carve with, and less likely to break if you do have to do some heavy notching or cut thick rope or what not.

Any recommendations on a good Khukuri? I have a Nepali girlfriend whos into guns and stuff, and want to surprise her with one, maybe get one for myself too, but i dont know where to start for quality ones.

Attached: Kukuri014_border.jpg (639x429, 42K)

>If I'm not innawood
here.
If you're not innawoods then carry a folding knife. The only one of the fixed-blades pictured that I carry when not /out/ is the little Schrade, because it's low-profile for a fixed-blade.

Kailash Blades has a nice selection of stuff and I've heard good things about them.

Personally have my eye on the Knout by them

What's yalls opinion on a espada L? So far it's served me pretty well and always a good conversation piece when brought up

Got the AK bayonet from an user here. Thanks again user!

Hihi, survivalist-chan! Sorry to say, but that model is made for Kizlyar supreme in China. Be very suspicious of anything from Kizlyar that is available in aus8 steel. Most likely Chinese produced and not aus8 steel. Also the fuckers in China are getting lazier ;_; very depressing. Use naifu and enjoy, but quality is substantially worse than Russian produced Kizlyar naifu models.

Naifu-chan get mikov uton 0007 model from Slovak-chan

r8. The bayo is a repro but a surprisingly good one that i got for a fucking steal, $35 free shipping with scabbard. Id assume the steal is at a minimum of 1060 for file testing on an inconspicuous spot, its pretty similar to my friends original late warbayo. The folder i got from my meme for Christmas its from a company called blueape blades idk if its a good company or not but the fit and finish are good and tight does any one here have any exp with blue ape blades?

Attached: damascus steel(TM) and knaifu for raifu.jpg (4032x3024, 2.62M)

What's the bayo a repro of?

its a repro of a S84/98 ie a kar98k bayonet

nice riafus

Mountain man feel with lard-ass hands.

Does anyone have any opinions on the Esee 6, or any other recommendations for general outdoors/survival/fuckaround fixed blades for under 200 (ideally under 150) usd?

Another non-related question, does anyone make a decent non-tacticool Bowie nowadays? Whenever I see them they're either cheap Chinese shit, cold steel-esqe tacticool, or flashy dress pieces. Just trying to find a pseudo-traditional knife made with modern metals and QC.

IDK about the folder, but I think the bayo is pretty cool, especially for a repro.

Thanks Jow Forumsomrade. I got the K31 (matching except for the bayonet) back when they were still 300-400, and I picked up the M96 for 200 a couple weeks ago because it was missing the rear sight ladder (8 bucks on eBay) and the gun shop thought the barrel threading was some bubba job.

Super glue the flaps closed, then cover with some duct tape. Don't be a pussy user.

I use a puck stone on my long ones. easier too.

why? also, WTF is a jessica x?

Nice
It's a "chopper" knife design by Chris Tanner (preparedmind101). They were manufactured by Schrade, but the company changed his design (without telling anyone) to a hollow grind instead of a saber grind on the third production run. Since then, they've been selling a hollow grind version that can't take abuse like the original. If you want the original design now, you've got to find someone to build you a custom order find a knife from an early run. Pic related is the 4th run, where Chris had already cut ties with Schrade (PM101 logo removed), but blades were briefly manufactured with the original saber grind.

Same user for both posts actually.
Nice though on the decent deals for you’re surps they should serve you pretty well, depending on the planned usage. I’m sadly currently noguns because of my living arrangement
