The PLA 2,035,000 soldiers, but China over 1,403,000,000 people, making it about ~1,4 soldiers per a thousand people, a worse ratio than my home country germany (~2,1) and way worse than the US (~3,3), while it is still officially an army of the people or something along those lines.
