These all suck, give me something good

>Too Heavy
Wrong. The SPH and RSV weighed a combined ~80 tons. It would've been a world-beater, and still would be, had it entered service.

You are a retard.

For what purpose?
I mean, it's cool, but, why?

Extremely fast transport. The US has similar things in the form of the Pegasus class hydrofoil. Ground effect crafts are really neat.

>waaauuuugggghh

>Starfighters

Attached: x-27.jpg (720x583, 55K)

Basically you know how Northrop-Grumman had that one guy who was obsessed with flying wings, so eventually we got the B-2?

There was one guy in the soviet military who was similarly obsessed with Wing-In-Ground-Effect planes where the compression of air in front of the wing of a plane causes the air going below a plane that is flying near to the ground or sea surface to be denser and provide greater lift, so take a short, wide, thick wing, and you can lift a remarkable amount.

As long as you don't fly much higher than... 10-25 feet above the ground or sea.

The Iranians have little one-man versions as coast guard/fast missile boat planes, in that case they were gonna have planes flying low across the persian gulf to go beneath US ship radars, so making small, cheap propeller driven seaplanes to carry a few anti-shipping missiles takes advantage of the WGV effect.

Attached: iranflyboat2.jpg (416x234, 19K)

It's not a bad idea for rapid cargo/troop movement or anti shipping. The soviets mounted missle tubes on the back that's what those 6 tubes are for. They're incredibly hard to intercept (for thier payload) have longer range than an aircraft while being very fast (again for size). It makes a lot of sense for open water operating, but it's still a niche weapon.

Pretty much superior to the standard version in every way.

Star fighters where awesome, they where just used wrong by most people.

>let's take the mach 2+ interceptor and fly it 2m off the ground
t. also luftwaffe

Attached: 1534802923006.jpg (2200x1640, 935K)

What is?

>let's make a plane that barely had enough wing to take off, THEN stick a giant radar in it.
>then force it into low-and-slow attack roles
>also: Downward ejector seats.

Oh and to add insult to injury, Lockheed pumped millions into german officials to accept the F-104 instead of going with the british alternative, the SR.177; A jet with a throttleable and remarkably simple and safe rocket engine for climb and high speed intercepts.

If the luftwaffe hadn't been bribed by lockheed, not only would the luftwaffe and RAF have had that, but so too would the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm and the Japanese!

Rocket Planes on carriers! Instead we got a plane that killed more XB-70s than Migs!

Attached: K7-heavy-bomber-2.jpg (640x288, 24K)

>that killed more XB-70s than Migs
F-104s shot down 2 migs over the Taiwanese straight
not saying it had a good record, just not F-100 bad

The sacrifice in range after A-12 and F-14 is well-known. For the less cooler workhorses, the USN gradually lost a dedicated large fixed-wring combat support aircraft. Not that CMV-22B, EA-18G, and the E-2D now aren't good, a sizable manned common multi-mission support platform seems more powerful and efficient. Would like to see the MQ-25 gain some ASW (to complement the smaller rotary-wing MH-60S) and BAMS-like capability for maritime ISR and sea control after the end of UCLASS. In relation to a carrier-based-capable aircraft, USMC is promising in its VARS refueling kit for the Osprey, and the MUX concept as well as the eventual MH-XX development from JMR-FVL can follow suit.

TSR-2 too.
How feassible is an air-augmented rocket = ram-rocket on an interceptor?

TKB 517, lever-delayed blowback rifle that out performed the ak and was easier to produce. Turned down because slavs apparently did better with their current aks and switching to new machinery in mass would be costly along with retraining I'd imagine.

Yes it's a shame the Bf 109 never entered service

would have changed the war if it had, glorious teutonic engineering folded over 1000 times would have laid waste to the english during the battle of britain, completly ending the war and forcing them to surrender like the french before them.
