Nice SCAR, I'm jelly
How much was it?

From a month ago. I actually hurt my back while loading my ammo into the car. Fucked me up for three weeks and I didn't even have any sick days left.

i havent gone in over a year, what caliber vepr is that?

nice scenery is that the pacific northwest?

Yeah, just outside of Portland, OR.

My buddy's .308

Last range trip was a HP match. Shot a clean prone rapid for the first time ever, ended up winning service rifle class with a 478-13X /500

what are your guys thoughts on it? theres a 308 vepr for sale near me, i already have a 54R version, debating if i need the 308

Is that suppose to be browns camp? I've never been myself, since I've only shoot at chehalem, tri county, and on private property.

That's a lot of garbage... also there is some trash on the ground...

How much is it? Keep in mind they are banned from import so that will only appreciate in value btw.

They're very nice rifles, the one I held was the nicest AK I ever held, hands down. Felt very solid, the action was smooth as butter, and that fireball is dope.

Yeah, that's it exactly. It's usually full of dangerous retards but I had it all to myself.

First load testing with this rifle. 168 eld-m/H4895. Not my first choice but it sprays 175 smk's all over the target.

I don't like the PMR 30 at all.

What's wrong with it

Attached: 123_1.jpg (720x960, 756K)

What gun? I'm using M118 175gr SMK pulls in my 20" AR308 at 2580FPS with ok results... If you have a bolt gun and access to Varget, throw 44gr into a case with a 169 or 175 and it should shoot lights out if your primer is consistent.

Attached: TgtGfx.jpg (590x889, 61K)

That's really quite bad considering all the top-shelf components you're using, either your gun just isn't really set up for accuracy work, or some other aspect of your setup needs attention

R700 varmint contour 1-12". I really do think i have some kind of an equipment problem. 1-12 is a tiny bit slow for 175s but they should stabilize at 2700fps. The 175s were really awful, something like 6", with a load that shoots lights out in another 308 i have.

Maybe tomorrow.

Supposed to be like 50 near kcmo tomorrow, might try and go out again.

I wonder if it's possible that the primers are the problem. I used some old CCI 200s that i took on a trade. I figure they're at least early 2000s vintage.Velocities were fairly consistent though. I'm baffled.

>Try my hand at casting and powder coating 303 British for the first time.
>The shit fucking keyholes at 20 yards and and has a pizza pan sized MOA
>mfw

Fuck I hate this.

theres a prankster shooting .22 at your target

Unconverted I was ready to drop $900-1k on one last month. Realistically they can list for higher.

I have a 54R, 308 would be the smarter purchase for long term

what diameter are the bullets measuring at? what type of base are they, flat or boat?

Dialing in a scope on an ar. Point of aim was a foot to the right...and it was Tula.

following this up with the fact they are obviously undersized somehow. and if they arent undersized, then you are pushing them way too fast. but im leaning towards sizing issue and giving you the benefit of the doubt on speed. keep in mind cast lead is soft, so you will also want to slightly oversize sometimes. i would be doing at least a .311 bullet size and if your bore slugs at a more worn diameter, step it up to match. i think most peopel do .303 brit as .314 diameter cast, so start with that

To make matters worse, pic related was 175 FGMM the day before. Three rounds.

Hello fellow ORfag

I'd go through and verify that all your action screws are tight, everything's bedded properly, scope screws tight etc. barrel's not touching the stock anywhere it shouldn't be, all that good stuff. if all that checks out and you're using a decent benchrest rig, and you still have issues, I'd suggest giving the HDY 155gr A-MAX a try, I've had really good luck with it in just about every rifle I've tried it in, won quite a few matches with it.

I'm doing plain based .314 with an NOE mold. Load data is 24 grains of IMR 4227.

For comparison, I took some HXP surplus and got roughly 1.8-2 MOA at 100 yards.

FGMM is usually IMR4064 or RL15 equivalent I believe... I'd go with a slower powder honestly...

hmm, i might try stepping down your charge a bit. maybe you are loading a bit on the hot side and its juts enough to melt the bullet exterior so it doesnt grip the barrel. what load did you start at? did you start at 24 or did you start lower and work up to that? any problems at lower charge?

maybe check to see if you are squishing the bullet when crimping or seating and thus reducing diameter

also maybe your lead is too soft. i dont know, but good luck. its probbaly going to take some tinkering make sure you post your success though

You use sick days for range time?
I've found my lost brother.

Only photo, lucky one at that.

I started at 24 since 4227 is more tamer than other powders. I'll try softer loads, but that that point I'll be hovering just above 1,000 FPS.
Bullets are water quenched and re-quenched after coating so I doubt they're too soft.

I should point out, the bullet weight is more than typical, around 230 grains.

No, I meant I got fucked up during the range trip and I couldn't call out work because I already used up all my sick days for the year.

I was put on light duty for the three weeks I was fucked up, which while nice, also meant that I missed out on an optics torture test I was scheduled to go help out with. I missed out on getting paid to shoot all day, and that specific day was all you can shoot .357 sig.

That buffalo il?

Im in Phoenix so a light dusting was wild.

nevada?

have you chronod your current 24grain load? or are you just estimating fps by weight and powder charge? dont estimate because theres lots of variables. cast bullets can be tricky to load for but you have to remember to stay within the confines of them. they are meant for low velocities so just work within their confines and dont expect them to perform like jacketed rounds

the fact you have such wild patterns just leads me to believe the bullet is not making good contact with the bore, and that is either happening because you are pushing them too fast or they are undersized

>last range trip was over a year ago

i am now the noshoots meme

Yep, it is

I'm going off both a page of a reloading book that I can't recall the name of and Britishmuzzleloaders and his 303 Brit reloading video.

I might say screw it and try Red Dot instead of 4227. Maybe that will work out.

No, Washington State. Specifically the eastern side, desert dust bowl environment.

A cold day, but a good one.
