america could have avoided such easy detection and sinking of its carriers should they have seen how the advance of technology was making super carriers obsolete. the last war a super carrier actually won in was WW2, and after that it went the way of the battleship. americans only kept their carriers as a message to the USSR, they knew full well they couldnt stand up to the soviets world class navy. the US did however see the advance of light carriers, and attempted this with the LHDs, but failed because they can only carry helicopters. again, the US tried the concept with putting landing pads on all of its ships, and planned to put harriers on them and equip all destroyers with five planes, making up a squadron when said destroyers turn into fleets, but this failed because the US could not get good engines in the harrier, and it was unreliable. hence, why the harrier program was shelved. the US is attempting to keep using its carriers as symbols like they did in the cold war, but the rest of the world has long awoken to how obsolete they are, and how they more show the regression of the USN then its power.
