Die for Israel goy

Is what you see in the movies true? Do DIs or RDCs go through your mail? Do they sit you down and ask you gay shit like why you joined? Speaking namely of the Navy

The fuck was the problem? Also reposting: Well shit boys, looks like my trip to Great Lakes got moved to the end of the month, only went to one DEP meeting so far and that was just some PT stuff. Any sage words of wisdom aside from shutting up, doing what needs to be done, and >HYDRATE?

China will not grow larger.

Attached: DED2F05E-BF6A-46B8-A92A-E5ABB65B158E.jpg (520x528, 63K)

I looked in the mirror and even with my head all the way back, my neck just sticks out of my shoulders like "forward head" example. Am I fucked?

great lakes aint so bad, you wont be run into the ground or anything. It's going to be fucking cold though for most of your stay there so be ready for that.
you'll fold a buncha clothes and have some fun time on a mock ship. that's really it.
that's all secondhand from various sailors i've worked with. none said it was difficult, many said it was surprisingly meh
what rate?

takes time and effort to fix a bad posture. usually with spine stuff where it causes muscle tension it takes multiple visits to a physical therapist to slowly get it back to where it should be.
im not doctor, look into stretches to help you relax but it's probably really not that big of a deal, most folks have less-than-ideal postures to some degree.

There's another thread exactly like this one. Someone is trying to kill /MEG/

I'm just wondering if I need to invest a shitload of my precious gun funds in seeing a specialist and buying a neckbrace or some shit. I admittedly have horrible posture because my bad eyesight made me lean forward towards a monitor my whole life.

I’m the dentalfag that was around in a few threads, HMDA. Honestly I’m kind of looking foward to it all, but it looks like I’m not going to be an E2 or anything just yet considering the date I’m leaving was when my second DEP meeting was supposed to be. Whatever though, I got 5 years to reach for hygienist. Rather have the cold than humid as well.

Mods just deleted it

No I deleted it, I just wanted to make MEG feel vulnerable. Carry on.

Will having this incorrect posture get me DQd from MEPS?

idk man, i imagine stretches and a concentrated effort would get you going in the right direction. Worst case if you're going to enlist, then enlist and complain about it to medical.
oh hey, cool. you'll probably learn a lot but it'll be a longtime spinup. Don't get worn down your first couple of years, especially during the schooling.

They go through your mail but it's mostly to make sure that you're not sending suicidal stuff or coordinating something illegal. For some fuckass reason, there are retards that try to sell drugs in basic

If I tell my mother I'm having fun or some similar shit will I get assfucked?

I am pretty interested in all the schools and whatnot I’d be taking, so that’s definitely not a problem. Worst comes to worst it gives me an idea of what I want to do as a career, but I think I’ll like it. Only thing that is somewhat concerning me is the mail system, but that really doesn’t involve the Navy much, moreso my family’s “home” status being in a sort of limbo. But I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.
That is pretty dumb, but not surprising.

Look

I’m going from active duty Army to USMC reserves how stupid am I?

You should’ve had done it the other way around…

Can I ask why you’re switching?

Depends on what you’re getting out of the deal. What MOS and where will you be drilling out of?

...

Is getting a commission seriously that much better? Done about a year's worth of school. I'm thinking of just saying fuck it and enlisting.

Lance Corporal mortarman in the USMC ask me stupid questions about Marine Corps infantry.

do you find your life enjoyable?

If I want literally nothing out of the military other than to be with a bunch of bros and shoot, is the infantry a decent option? Infantry kinda looks cool, especially considering I already love shooting.

>/Meg/ 3 months ago-
“Join infantry or you’re a dumb faggot”

“Lol you went infantry? You’re NEVER going to do your job and you will commit suicide!”

Fires up the ol braino

Out of curiosity, how do things like gun ranges work on Navy bases? Say you got your work day done and have free time to kill, could you schedule a trip to the range to get some shooting in? I know things are understandably stingy as far as bringing your own gun in and taking a gun out of the range. Could someone realistically go shoot anyways, or would you have to hope you have a civilian range nearby?

3 months ago we all thought that we'd be deployed to Syria at any moment
Not anymore

Just write your letters knowing that your superiors will read them. Keep it professional and optimistic, if they see a kid who is actively focused on getting through this and keeps connected with his family, then they know they've got a good one. From my experience, the guys that the instructors give the most shit are the ones that don't send or receive mail or don't make phone calls. They keep those lonely guys distracted with physical and mental beatings so that they don't have time to sit around and reflect on how depressingly lonely their life was before they joined up. No matter the circumstance, your DIs are there you help you, and they will adjust their individual treatment to best effectively accomplish the goal of turning a civilian into a soldier/sailor/airman/marine/spaceman/etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they use the personal letters and journals of recruits as references to determine whether they are on the right track or if something needs to be tweaked.

The pay charts alone should demonstrate it, but consider the opportunities that officers are conferred. Also consider their jobs, no matter how badly you fuck up or how shitty your placement is in the military, you will AT LEAST come out with managerial skills that will net you a good paying job as a general manager of a retail store. Once you get a commission, you really can't fuck up unless you do something that would land you in jail, and even then your ass will still get covered. You'll never see a homeless officer.

No it doesn't work that way. Some army bases have a civilian/retired range ran by the MWR... but ranges are meant for qualifying only

So after getting drug tested at MEPS do they drug test you again before you leave for basic?

Attached: DWXAoSnWsAEAK5l.jpg (480x586, 45K)

That sucks, but I guess that isn’t surprising.

Huh. Good point. If I were to commission by going to OCS, is there a particular major they're looking for?

yes.

I'd be willing to bet we start swinging with someone in 2019. Who? No real idea, but this is murrica and if nothing else we always have another conflict on tap

Join the Marines and come on down to Twentynine Palms. There's a nice civilian range that goes up to 400 yards.

if you end up at norfolk or generally close to quantico, keep up with their range events. Quantico has both a civilian range for local members as well as occasional events where you can use the qual ranges, however it'd be at a set range since everyone has to be on the same firing line.
I drove by one once and it was precision shooting event at 500yds with a bunch of folks in all sorts of fun stances to improve their marksmanship.

No, there's a slight preference for STEM and some roles will require a certain degree (medical and engineering are obvious examples), but otherwise they just care about GPA and performance on tests, as well as letters of reference. They want to see a well-rounded person, so sports or volunteering are good, and being in fantastic physical shape goes a long way too.

STEM

fugg thats really annoying I was hoping I could just smoke a bunch of weed before leaving for basic

Attached: 1524946972457.jpg (402x552, 36K)

>come on down to twentynine palms
nice try gunny! ya almost got me!

>Twentynine Palms

Good god I can still smell it

Once you sign on the dotted line you must pee on command until your DD214 clears.

Sure I get that and once I'm in I wasn't planning on doing any drugs but I was just hoping I could smoke weed before I leave just to enjoy it for the last time for the next 4 years minimum.

Join America's most elite fighting force. The Few, The Proud, The Marines.

Don't do it. I knew a guy that did and he got fucked on his first day at Benning. The military takes drug use VERY seriously

youtube.com/watch?v=MZ73FEXSQRQ

This guy knows what's up.

Yeah I'm not going to. I was figuring that after MEPS I probably wouldn't have to until sometime after basic, but I'll just pass, really not worth fucking my life up over it.

Atleast I can be a degenerate alcoholic and the army doesn't care :^)

They don't test for LSD, so you could do that, or just do other drugs whenever you take longer blocks of leave. Speed, XTC, shrooms, whatever you want as long as it's out of your system quickly. Weed is like the one drug that lingers, so it's the one you have to avoid (and steroids too)

Yup, I love psychedelics, I'm planning to trip next week with some of my friends, might try molly too just because fuck it, it's my last chance and that shit clears out quick, but weed can be sketchy with how long it says in your system, so I'll just pass on that. Sad!

Go ahead with the molly, just remember to hydrate (but don't overhydrate) and do it on a fully stomach because you're not going to want to eat the entire time.

I tried for a few years to enlist in the USMC but they wouldn’t take me due to a medical “condition” that didn’t effect me at all. Eventually I realized the only way to ever get in was as a prior service applicant so I joined the Army so I could end up joining the Marines

I still think it's foolish to sacrifice everything you've done in the army just to be a Marine. You do know you gotta go to boot camp again, right?

Is there a career in the airforce that will help me become a park ranger?

so i talked to the special ops recruiter and it looks like i have no disqualifying physical problems to get in, however i have to cross-train into it since my parent's are kicking me out of the house. Any tips for cross-training into spec ops?
I have improved y diet and got some mad gains but i still have a way to go before i'm operator ready.

Attached: 1539132024391.png (448x332, 156K)

Yea that part will be pretty gay but I’m not staying in the Army no matter what so fuck it

Personally my day to day life isn't bad. I have a good chain of command and good friends that make work bearable. YMMV though as every unit is different. Overall I'd say infantry has the worst quality of life but your time is what you make of it.

Yeah if you're looking for some sense of brotherhood then infantry is the tightest field you can be in. Be prepared to spend more days picking up cigarette butts in a parking lot than shooting, but if you go 0311 you'll get plenty of opportunity to shoot some cool guns.

I don't know what you expect to get out of the Marines, but trust me, it's not worth it.

Don't bother man the Marines have nothing better to offer you than the Army you'll go all the way back down to E2 and all the time you spent in the army will be wasted. You'll spend your entire time in the Marine Corps wishing you were back in the Army.

I was a super bitch my entire life before the military, and I decided the Marines was something I would commit to and never quit on no matter what. All it will be is the sense of accomplishment of never quitting, I know the Marines aren’t better than the Army or some boot shit like that

Worst case scenario I hate it for like 30 drill weekends and then it’s over

Okay we warned you

You can do that in the Army and actually get something out of it. The Marines aren't going to reward you or give you the sense of accomplishment, they encourage the idea that nothing is ever good enough. Hell, even Chesty Puller didn't deserve his retirement in their eyes, hence why they still use him for recruiting.

Trust me dude, the Army can give you everything the Marines could and then some. Why not try to become an officer if you're looking for accomplishment?

I wouldn't think of it as quitting rather choosing something better, but no one is going to make you choose otherwise so go for it. Reservists are treated like absolute ass and called fake Marines by everyone in the fleet so I'm not sure why you want that.

This is a statement of facts. You can, however, deploy more easily and be a useful reservist.

How is air force logistics? 21MX and 21RX sound fun but also susceptible to bullshit.

>navy has a 15 min 1.5 mile run test before basic
What the fuck is this shit?

pretty damn reasonable desu

To make sure you don't waste their time. Do you want to know how many fat retards join the Navy because they heard it has easy PT standards and don't even try running once before they ship? 15 minutes is fucking easy, you can just about walk it

Not him but how fast do I have to walk before running?
I haven't been running to much mostly lifitjng but everytime I run I struggle to get to the 1.5 mile mark, yesterday I did a mile in 13 minutes

If you can’t do 1.5 in 15 you should probably consider a career change. Besides, I think in boot you need to do 12 to graduate.

Stop being fat. Goddammit, this board is full of autistic fatties who are way too into weapons for their own health.

If you want to improve your run times, then walking quickly won't be as effective as jogging, even if you're going at a slow pace. The goal of this is to build up your endurance, so you're going to be doing this until you either want to throw up or you can't feel your face/arms/shoulders. If you are sedentary then it's an uphill battle, but as long as you keep going, you'll eventually get better at jogging longer and longer distances. I would recommend the C25K app, it starts you off easy alternating walking and jogging for set times, and after 9 weeks (or longer, depends on each person), you will be able to jog 30 minutes non-stop. From there, you should do some fartleks, a mixture of sprints and jogging to improve your speed.

First, you should be able to go the distance, then focus on improving your speed, otherwise you'll have a 3 minute half mile but a 14 minute 1.5 mile, which is what happened to me when I didn't follow a regiment. The shit works man, so hop on it now. And do some fucking situps, that will help with the side stitches

Wait. Wait. Hold the fuck on. You meet the minimum weight requirements to join and can't run a ten minute mile pace for a mile and a half?

What's the age cutoff for the oldest of oldfags? I'm a 34 year old Jow Forumszen with a worthless degree who has no job prospects and wouldn't mind dying for zog. Do I need a waiver? What are my odds of making 20?

>tfw too fat to join back in August
>lose 60 pounds doing keto and gym
>go back today and be on the border for the limit
>recruiter gets me into meps not Friday
>mfw I don't think I'll be able to do the run

Attached: yrCu8pk.png (400x416, 161K)

Making twenty, not likely desu.

WHY THE FUCK DO I NEED 3 REFERENCES LET ME JOIN

Attached: stalinwoke.jpg (900x900, 63K)

Oh well fuck it all. Figure the old bones with muscle are worth more than a trany or woman in uniform. Guess not.

There's a guy who is 33 in my OCS class rn.

Took the DLAB today. What sadist designed that test?

Do you think it's possible that my recruiter isn't responding to me (granted, it's been about 3 days since I left a message) due to the government shutdown?

Making twenty is not all there is to the military. You gain a new career field agnostic of your degree and build a wealth of references and skills to set you up for a new career field following your departure from the service.

You're not going to fit into the modern progressive military user.

No, military is not tried to the shutdown this time.

No, I had my first conversation the day before the shutdown, and swore in yesterday

Honestly, I don't know any gainfully employed vets IRL so I'll have to take your word for it.

Is speaking some French and a lot of other languages recruits are likely to know a skill that will help me be selected into the legion despite being an American with no prior military experience?

I think I can sell the social outcast angle to them too and that will help me get in I hope.

What do y’all know about it?

Attached: D1A56841-5CEF-41CE-A365-E3186A24AB1C.png (1334x750, 1.23M)

Go Guard, normal recruitment applies up to age 35.

Sometimes they are busy, your recruiter might still be on holiday leave as well. If it isn't very time-sensitive, just hold tight. If it's been close to a month, text again. It's safe to say if you haven't heard from your recruiter in about 6 weeks that they are ghosting you.

Security Forces would be the closest i would think in the AF. Go volunteer for local NP's and join the army national guard or just go full army

Thanks, gays! :D

SERE would help definitely

What was your score.

The only thing they really care about is veteran status, which any job + honorable discharge will get you.
