israel went in to lebanon thinking they would kick ass. in reality, they had to withdraw and quit after 30 days because of unacceptable losses and the fact that their economy can't handle a sustained conflict. the israelis would get their shit pushed in if they had to tangle with multiple opponents nowadays. the idea of 'israeli invincibility' is a kike myth.

So obviously Syria isnt a prob in and of themselves but due to the changing demographics and opinions in the usa there is a serious possibility israel might eventually lose US unconditional support. So israel sees a need to kill the last vestiges of arab nationalism now rather than later as it was the only ideology to pose a threat and confront them. Radical islam, wahhabism is their buddy. Theyre pals with the saudis and armed the mujahideen and al quaeda with soviet arms during the soviet afghan war. They also needed to finally isolate iran from any regional allies. But this has turned into a massive clusterfuck because rather than wither and die like iraq and libya assad held strong. The cia got btfo in syria and basically rejuvenated the almost dead idea of arab nationalism as an ideology that can challenge radical islam in the middle east. Now Iran has established a regional coalition of syria and hez in lebanon on israels doorstep and is basically taking over iraq.
Tldr: things could barely have gone worse in syria for israel and the cia.
