Some people aren't particularly good at tests. Others will have never done a test like that before. Others will have had little to no academic involvement whatsoever.

I think one of the biggest shocks a lot of people here will get when they enlist is just how poor a lot of the guys you're with are. Real rednecks, ghetto dwellers, trailer trash and others are just the tip of the iceberg. Back in 2003-2005 you had guys fresh off the boat from Central and South America. These guys might never have been to school. One man I knew from 3ID had been taught to read and write by a British ex-pat in an El Salvador slum.

Don't mock people because of how they perform on those tests. They might turn out to be excellent servicemen.

you're going to want to work on that, tank and cavalry is all about being in big toys with big parts and you need to move and carry those parts occasionally. unless you're a loader in which case it's all you do.

What's it like being a combat vehicle commander? It seems exciting doing all that multitasking. Navigating, keeping an eye out, commanding both the crew and the squad in the back, as well as having joysticks for both driving and gunning.

You will learn the hard way. No one who guards think guarding is cool.

In general probably most marines shoot as much as most soldiers. For grunts idk who shoots more. Army had more money to burn so I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
Join marines to be a marine. Shoot in your own time. If you don't want to be a marine then just don't. It'd be miserable

MPs check IDs at the gate, they aren't really providing much actual security. Every once and awhile a crazy dependa will run the gate and the MPs will be powerless to stop her because they suck.

As an MP you will also sit in a car and write speeding tickets for people going 2mph over the speed limit. Douches.

Other MP duties included getting called to the barracks to try and break up barracks brawls. However, you will have no backup and will not be authorized to use lethal force so it will be 1 unprepared MP vs 40+ drunk and angry soldiers.

You should do this by default, and not just in the military. Being friendly with your boss isn't ass kissing, it's just smart. You get the big picture, you become someone they can trust, and you're on their radar for when their bosses need names of people who can be trusted to not be shit-bags. This is assuming you aren't a shit-bag in the first place.

I was a shit bag. I was always friends with my squad leader no matter who it was. Some of them were cool. One time I got a real doucher squad leader who I then befriended so I was able to lessen the blow anytime they wanted to put some fuck fuck games on the squad

But my boss has so much autism that he can barely drive. Can't read faces. Can't read a room. Has trouble with basic human interaction. It's horrible.
