Real life is not a Call of Duty game you Marxist faggot. The Fallschirmjaeger pretty much single handedly captured Crete after a botched landing operation. Most of the time they weren't even employed as paratroopers, they were basically mountain troopers

>gets BTFO'd in Narvik by Polish exiles when placed under Navy command and forced to fight as mountain troops
>gets BTFO'd in the Netherlands by Dutch Air Force ground crews when they decide to do an air-landing on a couple "abandoned" air bases. Literally HALF of the Air Force's transport fleet is destroyed in under 12 hours, permanently crippling them during Barbarossa and forcing them to shelve Sea Lion
>sucessfull drops into Belgium, but only because the opposition consisted of about 12 soldiers hiding in a fort who surrendered
>gets BTFO'd by an already battle fatigued New Zealand and Greece in Crete, fucking up so bad that the timetables for Barbarossa need to be reorganized AGAIN to spare enough Army units to unfuck them. The battle is such a disaster that Hitler expressedly forbids any more drops, and the Fallschrimjager are reduced to mechanized infantry with coolguy gear.

Russia's VDV paratroopers are basically light infantry anyway, some of their regiments are even getting T-72B3s after they found the Sprut-SD to be lacking firepower.

Parachute regiment formed in 1943 with a casualty rate of 81% (including injuries and deaths) as well as a combined total of 150 days of combat. Took part in quite a few things, notably the Invasion of Italy/France and the Battle of the Bulge, among others. 9 officers in total and each trooper had to be qualified as an expert with their primary weapon and marksman/sharpshooter with all other weapons. Had 2,500 troops and only lasted 33 months before being disbanded. Pretty badass all in all.

This. Plus they were supposed to act as an independent combat team with very little support. Being only 2,500 guys included an artillery company 460th and a combat engineer company the 596th.
