Its for the single mother working two jobs to put food on the table and keep a roof over her family's head. Its for the college kid who kills himself working full time to survive, knowing at the end of the month he'll have just enough money to buy another case of top ramen so that he can concentrate on studying instead of his hunger pains. This $100 gun by his bedside will end up saving his life a lot sooner than the piggy bank sitting on his dresser waiting to be able to buy your precious glock six to twelve months from now. Hi-point understands this and they provide an American made gun for Americans who can't afford to pay an Austrian company for the right to protect themselves.
Its for the single mother working two jobs to put food on the table and keep a roof over her family's head...
Yes, Hi-Point does understand the single mother working two jobs to put food on the table and keep a roof over her family's head and the college kid who kills himself working full time to survive, knowing at the end of the month he'll have just enough money to buy another case of top ramen, so that he can concentrate on studying instead of his hunger pains.
I won't even touch that piece of potmetal trash. Anyone who buys one says the safety of themselves and their family is apparently worth about $140.
well guns shouldnt cost 500$ thats just overpriced shit
Yeah! Gas shouldn't cost $2 a gallon either! Bread should be free! My neighbors stuff should be mine as well.
OPBP
Incoming trolls pretending to be richfags
Gas should be cheap, and bread should be cheap too. Now fuck off boomer. You are the reason the milsurp is over priced.
>what is supply and demand
Have you taken a HS civics class yet?
you are retarded if you think a gun which is just a barrel and a trigger no electronics simple machine tooling product should cost 500$ same range as ps4 whose production is more demanding than a fucking piece of metal and plastic
Holy fuck nigger do you think the MSRP is the at cost price tag of the gun?
I am pretty sure Glock wouldnt like to see their guns sell for bellow 500$
Yeah because 99.9% of the time you don't retail a product at cost. Dipshit.
their profit margin must be close to double of the guns actual value
>Buddy was hard up on cash
>Was one his own since 18, working 2 full time jobs to keep his shit hole in the ghetto studio apartment while at the same time being a full time online student
>Still going to need some sort of protection. The local inhabitants of the ghetto are...less than friendly
>Got himself a Hi-Point 9mm used in mint condition from a pawn shop for $75 with a spare mag.
>I bought him a hundred rounds of 9mm 115gr ammo and a few hours of range time to get good with his new turf defender special.
>He got his CCW and started CC-ing the thing everywhere
>It actually saved him twice. He was almost mugged at knife point until he shoved it in the robber's face, then he actually shot his would be car jacker who tried to steal his car when he was sitting at a red light at 2AM.
His cheap shit ghetto blaster saved his ass more than once. Since then my buddy graduated college and moved out of the ghetto. But even so, he's put easily 5 thousand rounds through that gun since. Dirty as fuck steel case, bottom of the barrel Bubba gun show special reloads, etc. His C9 has a place of prominence right next to his VP9SK and longboi 10mm glock in his safe. He still takes it out of the safe for a day at the range every week. Breaks it down and cleans it all the time.
And that's a companies decision based on a million different factors that you too can understand if you read a book about basic economics and stop shitting up Jow Forums with fucking retarded threads.
the suggested retail price of the Glock 19X is $749
>who kills himself working full time to survive
Wtf he's working full time to survive if he intend to kill himself, moron?
Based and redpilled. Everyone should have a working firearm.
you caused
nah I am not even an American nor a gun owner I just enjoy this board when i take a break from Jow Forums
Brings a tear to my eye.
oh boy it's another episode of stupid poorfags that don't understand economics featuring
>MUH CNC IT SHOULD COST 10 CENTS
>MSRP IS THE ACTUAL PRICE OF THE GUN
>THE RAW MATERIALS ARE ONLY $100 WHY DOES IT COST $450
>MUH VALUE
>WHY DOES A GUN THAT ISN'T A GUN THAT IS LOCKED BREACH AND MADE OUT OF ACTUAL STEEL NOT AS CHEAP AS A SHITTY BLOWBACK POT METAL GUN?
>MILSURP IS EXPENSIVE BECAUSE OF (insert x group I dislike, not because of it being a finite good)
>PROFIT IS BAD
>"""OVERPRICED""" based on muh arbitrary perception of value
I'd unironically buy one if they made a steel model.
>fell for the marketing
Oh I agree, unless you shell out a grand for a weapon, you may get a chuckle of inferiority from some trouser stain on the internet.
ah, of course I forgot hits such as
>if you do not want the absolute lowest quality product available, you must some marketing boogieman
A HiPoint isn't a Raven or Intratec. There is nothing inherently wrong with their function.
Are they ugly? Yup. Are they uncomfortable to shoot a lot? Yup. Are they pretty unwieldy? Yup.
But, and this is the key question: do they go BANG with each squeeze of the trigger, no matter what the conditions? Oh yeah.
When you have only $130 to spend on a gun, you can't do better.
honestly beautiful.
Hi-Point has a shit reputation on the pistol side (but DO check out their PCCs) -- but even if they re-evaluate and get better, nobody's going to know unless people keep trying them.
Do HK spurdo guns exist ? No.
Do hipoint spurdo exist, recorded on video ? Yes
are you retarded or what ?
its definitely overpriced no question about it the profit margin is thru the roof considering all things
>if the company says its worth X it MUST be worth X!
>no business has EVER price gouged, ESPECIALLY when they have enormous brand recognition!
>value is inherent, not something dictated by the consumer!
imagine being this retarded
So if you buy an HK the safety of yourself and your family is worth about $600? Maybe $800? That's still a pretty pathetic value to place on one or more lives. Your logic is retarded, and so are you.
>wojak poster
>calling anyone retarded
Which is better, Hi Point or Phoenix?
>not appreciating memes on an imageboard
highpoints are overbuilt as fuck with low capacity. If they had true double stack magazines they'd be more popular.

>overbuilt as fuck
>slide blows in half when dropped on a rock
>overpriced
>average price is well within the reasonable market average of $450 to $500 for compact 9mm pistols
Yeah, so over priced that they are the most popular pistol in the world at the prices they sell for.
>I mass reply to posts
>The quality of posts is extremely important to this community. Contributors are encouraged to provide high-quality images and informative comments.
There is nobility in making a class of weapons as cheap as possible to ensure everyone is able to afford guns. On that principle alone I support the goals of a company, even if their product is lackluster.
Also, people I know who actually have a Hi-Point have no complaints, same goes for PSA.
Oh no, it's autistic.
>Don't make me repeat myself
The thread is about hi point retard. You're the only one shitting up anything because you're an insufferable old faggot
You're fucking retarded.
>op asks why other guns aren't the same as Hi Points
>OTHER GUNS
>FROM OTHER MANUFACTURERS
KYS
>seething
>I'd buy one if they changed the metal to something that completely negated the point of the pistol design
Just get a 1911 if you want a block of steel.
because people dont know any better I would rather buy my owns country product
If you’ve got a bit more money I would recommend a sccy
youtu.be
but why the gun works, is precise
>inb4 muh ugly...not comfy…
dude its suppose to kill not look pretty
>hi point run over by a truck and shot with another hi point
>still functions
>I have no idea what I'm talking about the post.
Hi-Point has cornered the market on the cheapest safe and functioning handguns. Whether you think it's something you would buy or not, the original point of the thread is that it allows basically any American to scrounge up enough money to buy one, which is good because ALL American citizens have the right to self-defense, and to have that right locked behind a high paywall is tantamount to saying poor people don't have rights.
"Saturday Night Special" laws in various states and throughout America's history are examples of this; purely and specifically passed to prevent poor people from having firearms. It's an infringement on the second amendment.
Note that in no way am I saying that all guns should be cheap, or that other guns aren't worth more money than a Hi-Point C9. I am only saying that having a bare minimum option for those who can't afford the "standard", per se, of Glock, is a very important thing to ensure that people don't go without the ability to defend themselves during times of hardship.
hi point
You mean stuff gets pushed into the dirt when pressure is applied on top of it? Also didn't he hit the chamber? The part of the gun thats steel?
Hi there!
You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of Holla Forums are always willing to help you clear this problem right up! You appear to have used sage when posting, but your opinion has nothing important to do with the conversation! Whoops! You should always remember to stop using sage for down voting! Posting with sage isn't necessary and is poor form. You should always try to avoid posting unless your opinion is absolutely vital to the topic that you're discussing!
Now, there's no need to thank me - I'm just doing my bit to help you get used to the anonymous image-board culture!
Hit the top of the chamber and partially tore up the top of the slide. Personally, I thought the "dragging the gun behind the truck for a while" test was more impressive than running it over.
Kind of true. I bought a P30 and a USP working part time retail at $9 an hour. I still think Hi Points are perfectly acceptable guns for people who go through with a perpetually impoverished state of mind.
How muc did you pay for housing, food, insurance, gas/elec, etc... at the time every month?
Or just get a Ruger Security-9 for a bit more dosh and it's a much better gun.
idk, I spend like 90% of my money on food and motorcycle insurance. Sucks that you couldn't get scholarships. Like I said, I don't have any problem with hi points. You could do better if you wanted to though.
We are spending less on food than ever before because you cheapies demand high quantities of poison instead of quality non perservative food
I dont own one, just always curious when someone says they subsist off a very low amount of income.
Congrats on scholarships.
Unironically this.
It's not even so much that Hi-Points are bad guns, although they kind of are. It's the mentality that one would need to have to even purchase such a sub-par firearm. Owning a Hi-Point is a sign of someone who is not only impoverished economically, but impoverished in spirit and mind as well. Owning a Hi-Point is a sign that you are a degenerate who makes poor decisions, even when it comes to something that he could end up betting his life on. I look down on Hi-Point owners not so much because of their gun in itself, but because to own such a gun is proof that they are trash people.
I paid $450 for my G41 and $420 for my G19. What the fuck are you going on about?
We have an incel right here...
Wow my gun is not the best in the ergonomics class nor is it pretty...
Look the gun is supposed to shoot and kill if it does that with no problem it's actually brainlet tier to go and overspend on something like a Glock
It's tool you don't buy it for the looks
Thanks dawg.
...which is why I bought a GLOCK.
I like the carbines.
Just gonna leave this here...
Not that you're in any way wrong, but wojacks are out now, it's 2019 aka, 2005 mk2, aka get some fucking OC with some soul.
GLAWKS FORTAYS are for everyone
Playing devil's advocate here, if you're going to invoke the laws of economics, the price to produce should cause competitors to undercut the major manufactures and bring the price down. (And to a degree this is in fact happening.) But (arguably) unconstitutional government regulations and a sue happy culture stifle competition and keep prices high.
>you wouldnt stand in front of it
>this meme is totally out guys
Single mothers deserve to die.
>telling others what to post
Go fuck yourself cunt, memes form organically. Forced memes are the lowest quality of memes.
I paid over $300 for mine. Granted I have no idea what they would charge for a Hi-point around here. I've literally never seen one. I feel we get screwed on prices here, but at least we're not NY/California/NJ/Illinois.
Poor people have the right to defend themselves. Those that can afford good handguns like HK's, CZ's, Baretta's and the like also have the right to defend themselves. I personally wouldn't get a Hi-Point, but for the price point they work. Don't like them? Don't buy them.
The poverty shield.
NJ here. I paid $750 for a new Beretta M92FS and an additional $35 per 10 round magazine. Our prices are absurd.
oh fuck, that's a hard one
Both.
Hi Points are the size of a brick and available in normal defensive calibers, Phoenixes are the size of a pocket .380 and only in .22/.25.
They actually complement each other nicely.
goddammit i can afford other options but why do I still want one
Make one just as good but cheaper. Do it faggot. Until then, STFU.
Never shot a Hipoint but I've heard nothing but good things about them DESU. It's fashionable to hate on them by gucci ar-15-glockazine bros but it's a pistol that is cheap and WORKS.
Be honest, you hate it because it's half the price of your glock and works just as well.
(I admit it is ugly af tho)
Makes sense. Collecting handguns isn't practical anyway; you should be buying crates of SKS to arm future insurrections.
Post your HK poser
I fucking love Hi-point, I'd always try to help a friend find a better gun for the same price, but I got a CF380 for $59 and that thing will still kill someone just as dead. Haters need a reality check
Just got my Hi point. Love it already
I disagree. It's an acceptable choice for someone who can't afford anything better because there are genuinely worse options. It's also a fun cheap fuck around gun for people who already have a better gun for serious use.
The demographic that really shouldn't be buying them are new gun owners who need a good gun but can afford something better like a Glock or an SD9.
I own one. They really aren't just as good. They are clunky, the safety is sketchy, recoil is pretty stiff for a 9mm, reliability is not perfect, materials are cheap and magazines are single stacked.
It's definitely better than nothing, and better than some guns I have owned, but if you do shoot one you'll probably be disappointed. I'm genuinely curious about the new one they introduced at SHOT show but I still wouldn't expect it to match something like a Glock in feel, ergonomics, materials quality or shooting dynamics.
>CF380 for $59
I would want nobody to attend my funeral if I got killed by that lmao
You're killing their dignity too
Sometimes you need occult levels of humiliation behind every bullet
>Dey cheep and dey werk
But they fucking dont. I've owned two at various points and both of them were unreliable as shit. First one I got in college and it would stovepipe at most every 30 rounds, second one I got on a whim for 60 dollars a couple of years ago and would f2f every mag (think it was mag related, but if you have to buy a second mag to trust it then whats the point in buying a cheaper gun?). I get that everyones got some ebin anecdote of how super reliable their one was, but I'm incline to mirror the "valuing your safety at 140", insofar as they're like that shoes and mattresses platitude ("you spend your whole life on your feet and on your back, so if theres two things you dont want to cheap out on its shoes and a mattress") in that you cant afford to get the potmetal bottom rung of a self defense weapon, just save for a cop trade-in glock or sig or M&P, ~350 if you shop around.
went to bed last night after viewing this thread and thought
>wow um probably going to have some dream with a hi point in it now
turns out the new model hi point is actually really fun to shoot
I think rough times are ahead for hi point with the rise of 160 dollar (sometimes less) 380s from ruger and diamondback and a few other companies.
For the working poor, these subcompacts will be the guns of choice in the future, or a 22lr rifle.
This. Save your fucking money and get a pump shotgun at a pawn shop for $150 if you need an HD weapon. Hi-Point products are potmetal garbage, one tiny babby step above a zipgun with a plumbing pipe barrel. You can get a used pump shotgun for about the same money.
TRUE FACT: in Hi-Point handguns, the firing pin is also the ejector. If that doesn't scare the absolute shit out of you, you don't know enough about how firearms work to own one.
In the extremely unlikely event that you aren't here trolling, they're ill-conceived, ill-designed, poorly manufactured potmetal garbage, unreliable even with full metal jacket ammunition. They are a dismal attempt at a firearms manufacture and, frankly, insulting. Cheap for a reason, they're one tiny babby step above a zipgun made from water pipe and rubber bands.
pistol-training.com
web.archive.org
tl;dr version, someone at a real training school subjected a Hi-Point C9 to a 2000 round "endurance test" (a ha ha ha ha) and, among other things, had a malfunction of some kind on average every 47 rounds. This was with Federal factory hardball ammo, so it's kind of difficult to blame the ammo here. He was also consistently unable to shoot a passing score on a number of basic gun-handling drills (like the F.A.S.T. drill) with it due to hideous trigger, nearly-unusable sights, and feedway stoppages mid-drill preventing him from getting what otherwise might have been a passing score. With Glocks, Smiths, Walthers, XDs, he has no trouble passing these same drills.
If you attempt to fight for your life with one, and it doesn't blow up in your hand (did I mention that it uses the firing pin as the ejector?) you are likely to die. Then maybe your wife and kids can inquire about the "lifetime warranty."
You know, this really isn't funny any more. I know this is Jow Forums and all, but it takes a special kind of retardation to post stupid shit that could get people killed.
Hi-Point products are dangerous garbage, no different from Lorcin, Jennings, Jimenez, and all the other potmetal garbage guns. Even Taurus is a step up--and Taurus products are absolute dogshit.
Tell that to Burt in the pistol general, he suggests them all the time to poorfags
>missing the point this badly
go Hi Point a gun at yourself
