That's right, it's time to post your US Rifles, Cal .30 M1. Got mine last April as a CMP Field Grade, an Oct. '44 Springfield with mostly era correct parts and a '55 barrel. Should I piss away my tax refund on a Service Grade, or a MAS 49/56?
If you own an M1 already, you know the answer. Who the hell would want a MAS when they could have an (another) M1? The MAS was and always will be, a piece of shit with very little resale value. When the CMP runs out of Garands, and they will run out, Forever.
>wanted a M1 Garand ever since I was a little kid >was too young to buy one when they were cheap, then when I turned 18 CMP was completely sold out and getting them through gunbroker or something was outrageously expensive >fast forward to a few months ago >my bro uncle passed away from an aneurysm, him and I were probably closer than anyone else in my family >reading the will >gets finished with all the talk about what to do with his money, accounts, etc. >very last paragraph >"Hey user, I left something for you in the safe buddy." >open it up >it's his M1 Garand >pristine condition, even has the bayonet and original sling and ammo pouches I don't know how to feel man.
Feel honored and thankful. Your uncle loved you, pay him back by honoring his gift. Unrelated, a local pawn shop has a Colt 1903. Exterior is alright, they want $500 but im hoping to take them down a bit, maybe trade a janky .22 as well. I know it's not milsurp, but decent deal? I've always wanted one.
Feel good thats such a bro way for your uncle to go out and now you have a family heirloom to pass on when you die

No, sadly, there's quite a few guys who have me beat here. I've got 10 surp rifles and a total of 36 guns, one of which is a bastard that I don't claim.
Anybody in New York have experience in buying Garands? I've looked into the CMP but it seems like a pain in the ass. Is it easier to just find a gun store and buy one that way instead? As it stands now I don't really fulfill any of the CMP requirements like the live fire training certificate, etc.

I’m planning on doing the rounds at the local gun stores and pawn shops sometime this week. I’m familiar with most of the Mosin and sks variants, but what are some other rifles to look out for?
Colton Parker
what are some good surplus pants? wool ones? heard finnish wool pants are good but where's the best place to buy them?
Nicholas Baker
I need an M1, but I need to complete my WWI collection first
That's a good looking collection. Pawn shop near me has one of those Dutch mannlichers with a bayonet, but wants $500 fucking dollars for it. Also, a bubba'd german made 1899 swede.
10 rd mag ban is looming (if not passed already) in this once great state but luckily i got my shipping confirmation for the 15rd m1 carbine mags I panic bought so im a little less stressed.
also, what surp gun do you use/prefer for innawoods?
Robert Allen
I think you did good, user. You got the bayonet and some spare parts as well which means actual gun price would be closer to $1300. That shipping kinda blows but it is what it is. There's a Ljungman at my LGS with bore condition 3 and super worn bore for $1650 so you did good in my book. Pic related is also from my LGS so kill me now.
Also, why are so many swedes going for $600+ on Armslist and GB? I just want a nice, matching m/96 and/or a m/38 for less than $500. Is that too much to ask for?
Yep, he's my big, fat lump. He's a huge cat regardless, but being fat just makes it worse. I need to take a better picture of my M1. It looks a lot better in natural light.
If it has the original grips, finish, and magazine (especially the magazine; those can be worth like $100+ on their own), then $500 is fair. Maybe try and talk them down to $450, but $500 for an good condition Colt 1903 is a fair price.
Jack Ross
If the scope is original, somewhere between $800 and $1200. If not, I'd say $350, and it'd at least be a cool shooter.
Jason Price
is that gats?

I’m thinking of picking up an M1 when I get my tax return, is the service grade worth it or should I shell out some extra dough for a special grade?
Liam Bell
Extremely blessed, although sad and you have my condolences man.
Ayden Morris
You talking about Gat Guns? Pic is Marengo Gun. Fellow IL user?
Brayden Bell
yes, I am also trapped in this state. Marengos prices are usually better than that. But I havent been in ages
This state is going to shit pretty fast. Hoping to get out as soon as I graduate. You haven't missed much at Marengo. However, they usually have a 20-25% off all used guns sale every other weekend or so. The surp section gets smaller and smaller every time I go there though there are a few nice things to look at, even though they are overpriced. Lots of Bubba's and sporterized surps though everyone else their just fingerfucks the AKs, ARs, and handguns. Still the occasional deal to be had though. How are things over at Gat's? Haven't been there in a very long time.
I should go have that ljungman go take a chunk out of my hand and see if I can get it as compensation for the unsafe store conditions. I could use another one....
As I was telling that one user who just got a Ljungman it's not in the greatest shape bore wise. And save a Ljungman for me, user. I have neither a Ljungman nor a Hakim yet :(
By all rights, I spent more, but I resold enough and got some great deals on ammo that helped alleviate some of the impact on me squanderin' money. I have exactly two bayonets, one in pic related, and one of the Greek M1905s that DuPage Trading was selling as part of a 3/$50 deal.
Alright, took another look at it today. Bore is meh, everything else looks good. It's actually chambered in .380, and the serial number puts it at ~1920. I think im getting it tomorrow
Jaxon Peterson
What kind of strap is this with the ammo case attached?
Ian Hughes
Mine's a repro US M1923 cartridge belt. One of my friends gave it to me as a birthday present.
>friend has a bunch of mystery gray boxes that look like they were welded together with a sardine can key on top >gives me one >totally unmarked >turns out it's 7.62x54r >tfw free mystery boolits Time to blast some shit and hope it doesn't explode on me.
Fug mate, that sounds like Bulgarian heavy ball. Does it have yellow tips?
Jackson Perez
They probably have night mode on their tablet, phone, comp
Leo Powell
I know that feel, I bought 3 guns in the past month. >Haenel Schmeisser .25 ACP pocket pistol >M1924 Mexican Mauser (FN production) and today... >Uruguayan Mauser 71/94 Daudeteau/St. Denis rifle in 6.5x53.5r
For a while they CMP was completely sold out of M1s except for some of the really expensive collector grade ones
Jace Howard
Just bought an m95 steyr so I feel you there. Gonna have to drop on a reloading setup just to be able to shoot it affordably lol

My father and I are going to take a trip to the CMP North store so we can hand pick out Garands. Gonna be max comfy. How are the CMP inventories looking right now?
