Not him but many feel the Gen3 is a proven design though it had its own drawbacks. The extractors were beefed up in later gens, the grip texture is meh, and the mag release is smaller than the 4/5 gen. None of these are deal breakers.

There is zero reason to go gen3 anymore. The mag release on gen4/5 is a huge improvement and makes the gen3 look fucking tiny in comparison. The teething issues with early gen4s were resolved back in 2012/2013. No reason not to go gen5.

They're bigger, namely the PPQ shoots like and has the grip size of a 19 but the size profile of a 17
Hold less rounds
Have higher bore axis
The P30 has a shit trigger
The controls are retardedly large
The VP9 has a dumb paddle mag release
They all have weird ergos in the attempt to have good ergos
They are less proven

I would definitely go Gen 5 over Gen 3 at this point

The only reason not to go Gen 5 is if you want a Glock not in 9mm or you specifically want a 17L (which is a meme gun anyways)

Get them, but test fire one along with a few other comparable striker fired pistols to make sure you like the trigger/bore height. That’s really the only difference, almost all striker fire guns work. Some are slightly better but cost 1-2 Hundred more, and some have minor quality control issues(sig).
