Occupying Finland is one thing, conquering and actually controlling it is a totally different matter.
The concept of finnish defence is having a huge reserve force and huge decentralized stockpiles of weapons, ammo and landmines strewn all over the country, so that any extended war would turn into a gigantic partizan war so that even if the succeed in taking out most of the heavy weaponry of the FDF and taking over the large cities they would get bogged trying to go anywhere outside the cities. Also the morale and the will to defend their country is among of the finnish officer and nco corps, and among Finns in general, is extremly high.

One needs to take in consideration that the FDF has their combat-methods specifically designed to counter Russian operations.
In the south of the country there are only a handful of roads leading east-west, bordered by dense forests and swamps. If you look at a map, there are also innumerous lakes created by the last ice age, all creating a mishmash of barriers, all of which are laid out in an north-south pattern. This removes the options of executing any meaningful maneuvres that do not share a vector with the few existing roads.
The actual dispersed combat doctrine utilizes this depth by allowing hostile forces to funnel in a controlled manner down these narrow channels, abusing their need of these supply-lines and being bound to the roads, wearing down their momentum and disrupting their supply along the full depth of the battlefield, disregarding conventional frontline-based thinking.
In order to achieve an actual sustained breaktrough, the Russian forces must secure the full length of these roads or risk having their spearhead become isolated and surrounded.
Naturally this is assuming the Russians use conventional combat methods and not some more insidious and indirect means.

If Russian military command was retarded then yes, they could take over Finland. They'd lose a shit-ton of men and materiel while doing so for no significant gains, and then try to hold onto a country that has one of the highest civilian gun ownership rates after USA, a shit-ton of reservists and hunters, a generally anti-russia attitude and do I really need to go on?
And that's not even before we begin to consider the aid from other European countries, or China/India/USA taking advantage of Russia spending military resources trying to get Winland.
