I am the wind
wouldn't fly straight.
Improper gas seal.
because the soldiers would become too obsessed with getting skill shots with their spinfusor
Circular barrel is the optimal shape for containing gas pressure and providing an even surface area on the bullet for accuracy. I figured that out minimal technical knowledge into how firearms work.
all that proves is that the patent office will entertain some stupid ideas.
plenty of downsides like people mentioned, but I'd love to see a super weird wildcat cartridge/gun that does this just for keks. could probably be made easily if loaded very light.
Why should there be? What’s the advantage?
Harder to make than conical projectiles and cylindrical barrels
based. my midair record was like 400-something meters in T2.
Go outside and throw a frisbee as straight as you can. Let me know how it goes, retard.

Wouldn’t the wind have less effect than on a circular bullet due to less surface area
Public education, everyone.
>So why aren’t we shooting disk shaped bullets out of flat barrels
Because we live in 3 dimensions not 2
>you will never slice through sandniggers with a shuriken catapult
it would generate lift and it would start curving due to the magnus effect. even if it has less cross-sectional drag there's a lot more to ballistics than that.
Ah, seemed like a cool concept at least
Too much surface area, too little mass
Keep thinking outside the box user.
This is just one step on the journey of knowledge and invention.
Wasnt the DREAD army program this basically?

there is something called angular momentum...

How would you machine a barrel like that?
Probably by using a broach and a press. Thats how id do it
you'd need a fucking long broach
so your saying you can shoot behind cover?
I am the Highway
your a fart?
man that takes me back. we had a sweet game of assassination going at my high school in the early 90s. try that nowadays and get killed by cops.
The bullets would glide lol
This is a dumb question. The real question is why we haven't revisited oval rifling with modern manufacturing techniques. I still think that gets around the ATF definition of it, and there's less likelyhood of fouling.
That would be pretty fucking cool to have a high explosive frisbee that could curve into windows.
yeah back in the 70's we had rifle racks in our trucks with our rifles and shotguns
my little cousins run around with airsoft guns its fine if you dont live in a shithole
Dead straight, get gud
Flying saucers REEEEEEEEE
Magnus effect. Shots will curve but only in one direction.
Drive onto campus in the late 70s in the pickup truck. Principal looks at gun in back window as I drive up. When I'm running into school get hassled about gun left in gun rack with the truck windows halfway rolled down.
He hollers at me... "You still using that lousy Marlin? You need a Winchester!"
Good times ... folding knife in my pocket and legal beer at 18
yup those were the days friend
we punched it out if we had a problem, didnt use weapons as that made you a pussy
yea knives and guns everywhere, never got used in school. If someone ever did flake out there was faculty with guns around. Principals office had some trophies and guns on the wall and a box of ammo on the shelf. My half opened windows on my truck, never worried about stuff being taken.
* side note..pussy was easy and disease free
Pulled over with beer at 16 got poured out
drag raced many times as the 2 cops in town watched. Sometimes race us...Those were great times
Man I fucking hate that I didn't get to grow up in a time like that
I got suspended for punching a kid that was trying to rape my friend
I am too user its all about money
