I want to SBR and get a folding stock on old mauser so I can fit it easier into a tank. So, is it legal to do and how should I go about designing it >inb4 you're bubba-ing an antique If I do it I'm only going to use new made parts and save the original parts so I can undo it later >inb4 just use a pistol fag It was rechaimbered to 7.62x51 NATO and there just ain't nothing better than that
If you already have a new production barrel and stock why don't you just buy an action and build a whole new rifle?
Carson Bennett
>spend a whole bunch of money destroying history rather than putting it toward an sbr.
Andrew Adams
How are you going to take a full-length rifle, make it an SBR, and then "undo" it later? Glue or weld the barrel back to its original length?
Jordan Morris
Finally, some decent bait! Congratulations, OP - you are a master baiter.
Gabriel Richardson
Got a tig welder, can't be that hard to do.
Gavin Wood
Pick out eye patches ahead of time so you don't get gouged by showroom prices at the clinic.
Ian Parker
>tig welding a barrel after presumably recrowning it If this isn’t bait, just buy one of the new production CZ rifles that have the Mauser action if you want to fuck up a gun.
Jesus fucking Christ are you all illiterate? If I buy a new barrel and cut it down I can swap the original one out for the cut down one. You know why I'm not considering an actual SBR? Because this gun was made in 1895 and I can bring it to and from the sandbox with me with no legal issues. Get it? What part of "I'm not destroying the original parts" do you retards not understand?
Adam Cooper
It would still be a SBR you dumb fuck. Do you plan on getting the stamp? You're going through a fuck ton of extra effort and money for literally no gain.
Justin Mitchell
That answers my question. I was asking if the fact that it is legally considered a non- firearm can I SBR it with no legal repercussions. Thanks.
Carter King
>I can bring it to and from the sandbox
As in deployment? Are you fucking retarded or is your command retarded. Yeah, that would be a lot more practical than the FUCKING M4 YOU WERE ISSUED! If this isn't bait, you're worse than the sperg we had in Iraq who carried a sword on missions. I hope you ND through your balls.
Brayden Davis
>is a centerfire mauser a firearm? Gee I don't know user, why don't you send a letter to the ATF?
Lucas Bailey
I'm not replacing the m4, I just want to put on the Wikipedia page for the M1895 Mauser that I used it in the sandbox. Can't a guy make history?
It's considered a non firearm. I don't sperg out over firearm laws all day buddy, sorry for asking the question.
Jaxon Taylor
Even though it's an antique it only changes things for mailing and needing an ffl. Since it still fires a cartridge the ATF will tape you
Matthew Morris
I rather weld it. I'm pretty decent.
Nolan Allen
OP is perhaps one of the biggest retard and fag that I have ever seen in my existence.
You need to understand that there's two different definitions of "antique firearm" in federal gun law, one for GCA, and one for NFA. The GCA definition is the one you're familiar with, including anything made before 1899, as well as any later manufactured replica of a pre-99 design chambered in an obsolete and unavailable cartridge. The NFA definition is substantially stricter; it basically requires that the gun must be made before 1899 AND either not centerfire/rimfire, or chambered in an obsolete and unavailable centerfire/rimfire cartridge. Both definitions also include black powder firearms using flintlock, percussion, pinfire, etc. ignition systems, without regard to manufacturing date or being a replica of a pre-99 design.
If you want a horrifying bubba project that actually avoids the NFA, get an early Japanese Type 26 revolver, and put a shoulder stock on it. All Type 26 revolvers are antiques under GCA under the obsolete and unavailable cartridge exception; if you find one you can prove is from the first 5 years of production, though, it's both pre-99 and obsolete cartridge, and thus is also an antique under the NFA.
Isaiah Green
Ok, I got a new question for you then. If I don't destroy or "modify" ANY of the original parts, how is it a bubba project? Bubba implies that the "gunsmith" "modifies" parts of the original gun. If I only fuck with new made or reproduction parts, I don't destroy a historical gun. Guess I bring my uberti and try to pop one with that now, huh?
John White
As long as nothing original is permanently altered, it's really not bubba. Dumb? Maybe. Expensive? Probably. But not bubba if you can make it right. Don't underestimate the difficulty of a barrel change and checking headspace. Im assuming you'll be getting a new production (or already bubbad) barrel, same with the stock. Maybe some non permanent scope mounts. That's probably $300, $200 for the stamp, and a lot of effort every time you want to switch back and forth. Honestly, just buy something dedicated. It'll cost more, but it'll be worth it.
Carter Parker
>so i can fit it easier into a tank >easier into a tank >a tank >TANK
>bring it into the same box with me Do you wish to die? You want to put your life in the hands of an ancient bolt action rifle rather than an up to date one?
Justin Baker
I'd say you'd be better off cutting down your own head, but its pretty obvious that wouldn't change anything.
I didn't want to go through the paperwork of bringing an actual gun to Afghanistan. I bought some really shitty martini knockoff I think I still have somewhere when I was in Afghanistan. So I thought, hey, I could just shorten the barrel and put a folding stock on my M-1895 and I wouldn't have an issue bringing it in and back to the US. I think it would be a cool thing to have, since they aren't gonna let me keep my service weapon. Is this really more retarted then half the shit you guys post on a hourly basis?
Gabriel Lewis
If you're in a tank, you will be issued plenty of weapons for personal protection. M4 rifles, pistols, a shotgun, bayonets. Then there's the whole "Death before dismount" mindset so if you can't kill it with the 120mm, the .50 cal, or the coax, then your bubba'd Mauser sure as shit ain't gonna save you.
Jordan Allen
fag I'm trying to shoot it once and then write on the Wikipedia page "Sgt user shot one round from his gun at the Taliban on 4 November 2019 or whenever". You think I'm using this as any other kind of gun?
Josiah Edwards
"Sgt. user was killed in action after poking his head out of his unbuttoned tank, while attempting to fire upon the enemy with his personal weapon. The Army held a Safety Briefing on why remaining within the protected conditions of the tank is the best option when driving through an area with expected hostiles."
Jonathan Brown
Next deployment I'm gonna bring my mauser with me "un bubba'd" and gonna post a pic of me killing some raghead with it
Nicholas Martinez
Just use tape, it'll be just as good
Eli Ward
Why does anyone care about legalities? What country are we talking? Are you faggots gonna snitch on one of your own?
Levi Jackson
you realise that we take commercial flights coming in on deployments a lot right? We fly to Germany on commercial and then from there we transfer to a military flight to Bagram or wherever they have us going. You can't throw the MG-42 under your liberty ship bunk bed and hope the lieutenant doesn't see it there. You would see a lot more illegal vet AK bring backs if it were that easy. Last deployment was to don't touch their left hand! land, lest you get aids. My crew wouldn't snitch on me but that's besides the point
Michael Bailey
just fucking buy a cheap modern rifle to fuck with.
Blake Wood
Yes. I could be a dick and rag on you about ammo and muh gotta be different, but the reality is as soon as you bring it up to your CO and hit him with the "Ackshually is antique" he'll call you a fucking idiot. Your best bet Is to just buy something there
David Morris
If you insist on doing some dumb shit like that go buy a nugget and make an obrez, at least that isn't destroying history
Blake Cook
>WP:OR First you need to put out a press release, and get it published in a newspaper, preferably with a breathless headline like >120-YEAR OLD RIFLE SAVES LOCAL MARINE'S LIFE >(If it's good enough for our troops, why do you need an Assault Rifle 15?) Then you have a source, so then you can put it in wikipedia. If you just put it in with no source, it'll get deleted, and the wikityrants may be forced to carpetbomb the entire article as a warning to others. ("It became necessary to delete the encyclopedia to save it.")
Gabriel Cox
Would citing my local newspaper work? I'm friends with the editor an could definitley get him to do something like that
Colton James
OP is legitimately retarded and his low-iq and anger issues are probably going to get him killed in action or dishonorably discharged.
Dominic Gonzalez
>Inb4 you'll never be able to shoot straight again
