The Federated Issmarkish Empire (FörbundsRik Issmark) is a large continent-spanning empire in the far North of its world, composed of 10 semi-autonomous Kingdoms. It is a heavily industrialized nation and one of the world's four great powers.

Issmark's military is broadly divided into three branches:
>The Imperial Navy
Pretty much exactly what it says on the tin. Given that the Empire controls their entire continent and was dependent on its colonies for tropical goods, Issmark has always been a fairly important naval power.
>The Imperial Guard
Is Issmark's standing army. Historically they reported directly to the Emperor, but modern reforms following the Great Northern War have changed this. Their original purpose was to serve as a check against the local Kings, who were understandably rather upset about being conquered by the snooty bastards from the Western end of the continent. Now they serve as a sort of Self-Defense Force/Federal Police unit during peacetime, and as elite shock troops during wartime. They also control Issmark's land-based airpower. Highly trained, highly advanced, well-equipped and composed entirely of volunteers, their only real weakness is their fairly low numbers. The Imperial Guard is divided between Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Commands, as well as the now-defunct Colonial Command.
>The Imperial Army
Forms the bulk of Issmark's military might during wartime. Originally the various Army corps were expected to be raised through peasant levees by the local Kings during wartime as part of their feudal obligations to the Emperor. Nowadays the Imperial Army is controlled by the Imperial Government directly and service is mandatory for all males once they reach the age of majority. However since the Army is not a standing army and only fully activates in times of war, this basically amounts to meeting up once a week to make sure you know which end of your rifle is the bangey one. Kinda like the Swiss militia system.

Ave nex alea mein comraden.

The primary infantry small arm of Issmark since the end of the Issmarkish Civil War has been the Ekdal Rifle, a 6x43mm direct impingement, rotating bolt rifle designed during the final months of the war and used to great effect by Loyalist forces during the final assault on the IKRI stronghold in Fortress City Vålsungsgard. It comes in three major variants; the K/45, K/75 and K/05. These designations correspond to the year of introduction in the Imperial Calendar, with the K/45 being from 545 and the K/05 being from 605, etc. The K/45 saw almost no changes over its service life, and the K/05 hasn't seen any yet (and if it is ever replaced it will likely be with a brand new firearm firing caseless ammo or CTA), but the K/75 saw three major modernization programs, designated by "N" numbers. These modernizations have kept the rifle in service for an extremely long time, and it is well-loved by troops in spite of its quirks. The K-series are very lightweight and ergonomic, have a fairly long range for an assault rifle, and pack a significant punch but this comes at the cost of heavier recoil, lower mag capacity (typically 20 or 25 rounds) and reduced barrel life. Part of this is due to the 6x43mm ISK cartridge, which while still decidedly an intermediate is on the very high end of intermediate in terms of power and will both reduce mag capacity for a given length of magazine as well as negatively impact barrel life. Accuracy varies somewhat; most rifles are able to shoot ~1 MOA from the factory, but the Imperial Military's standard is 2.5 MOA (reasoning that at that point the rifle is probably more accurate than the man using it anyway) and so many rifles get accepted into service which have less accuracy. This is not so much of a concern given that every infantry unit has at least one dude with a PsG/71 marksman's rifle to take precision shots.

Attached: K-~5 Series Evolution.png (1918x2141, 393K)

That's actually a neat design

Thanks user. There's quite a few more variants as well, from the piston-driven automatic rifle to the grenadier models and Police Carbine.

I wonder, does nu-Jow Forums know what a moist nugget is?

The current sidearm of the Issmarkish military is the P/91 9x23mm handgun. Nothing super exciting here, it's just another not!Glock but with a steel chassis system and full-length guide rails.

Attached: P-91.png (936x592, 77K)

What program did you make/draw these models on?

There's already a Great Northern War that was pretty great.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Northern_War

The primary Main Battle Tank of the Imperial Forces is the StrV/84, also known as "The Hammer". It comes in two variants, the StrV/84v and the StrV/84k, for the Imperial Guard and Army respectively. The Guard version is the most advanced, with all the latest electronics and upgrades, but is expensive. The "k" variant is somewhat stripped down version with conventional steel armor and ERA instead of the advanced composite of the "v" variant, downgraded electronics and a different turret with an autoloader. This is because the Guard prefers to use a highly trained human loader who can switch ammo types faster, while the Army prefers to simply eliminate the extra man and his expensive training in favor of an autoloader. While more pricey up front, it saves money over time since you only need to buy it once as opposed to training a new man every time the last one retires, dies, etc.

It's weird, but I use Adobe Flash. I like it because I'm used to it, but there's definitely better programs out there.

I made a nation based very loosely on the Swedish Empire. You think I'm unaware? Mine is more equivalent to WWII though in terms of time period.

>Imperial Guard Trooper of the 9th Motorized Rifle Division in Nammerfal, circa 579
One of the most iconic uses of the K/75 was the Nammerfal Intervention. This was a conflict instigated in 577 when exiled former members of the IKRI Party instigated a coup in the tropical nation of Nammerfal and installed a puppet dictator who commenced committing mass atrocities against the hapless population. Eager to save face with the international community, (as under IKRI leadership Issmark had invaded many of its neighbors and committed atrocities of its own) Issmark led a coalition to remove the dictator from power and restore some semblance of democracy to Nammerfal.

Although Issmark quickly established air and naval superiority over the usurping forces, actually rooting out the dictator and his puppeteers was much more difficult. What was meant to be a lightning-fast intervention turned into a long, hard slog on the ground due to the difficult jungle terrain (especially difficult if you're from a frozen wasteland). The campaign was eventually a success, but it wasn't the easy, painless victory everyone had expected. Thus the rifleman became a key element in the outcome of the war, as he bore the brunt of most engagements, and Issmark's riflemen were happy to have the K/75 on their side.

It would actually be really cool if the place looked like Tokyo, and was able to perfect urban agriculture to get maximum long-term yield. And maybe a lot quarantined to look like a natural park inside the city. That could actually solve a lot more problems than people think. And it could be good tourism business.

The helicopter fleet will consist of mostly Mi-8 and Mi-24s with a few American and European utility helicopters.

If you're building a military from the ground up in the modern world a lot of these decisions would be situational. Were you created as a nation building experiment by the USA? You've probably got more 5.56 than you know what to do with, so you'll adopt it even if it isn't optimal. The best solution in a vacuum is often not the best solution in practice.

Well, all of those details depend on the creator. We're talking about a fictional universe based on the real one, in my case at least.

>Haast
>flag on left, I sewed it front and back myself
>a small island nation a distance from New Zealand primarily making revenue from fishing, resale of information and weapons, and harboring criminals for a period in history until that was changed to offering government asylum
>military:
There is a defense force of a thousand to a few thousand personal.

A few armored vehicles exist for the defense force. To save money, this force is also used for police raids when force is needed.

The bulk of military spending goes to the expedition unit which is primarily used for search and rescue. The nation enforces Swiss style conscription due to events in world war 2, most tend to join the expedition unit due to wanting to avoid any chance of violence. The unit has:
3-7 helicopters
7-10 coastal patrol boats (these are just fast boats that can hold about 8-10 unit members)
10-20 off-road vehicles
The helicopters, boats, and vehicles do not have defense capabilities.

The unit themselves are armed with surplus SKS rifles and recently, surplus italian 92s handguns. The government cuts corners a lot by buying surplus when it can. These weapons are used to fit the conscription law as well as to be used in defense against potential animal threats. If the islands were under invasion again, the unit can be merged with the defense force, former members must take arms and rejoin if possible.

A TL;DR for this aspect would be mix the national guard and coast guard, ran on surplus because the island doesn’t have some monster economy or a lot a money.

However they got a nice penny for selling uranium they bought from South Africa back in the day to Iran.

Navy:
It’s a small island chain
>they have an old wooden ship that is akin to US treats the USS constitution
>2 WW2 era destroyers with some updated aspects
>plans on a more modern destroyer, but not built due to funding and resources
>most island defense would be pillboxes and artillery placements

The two main races are Maori and Scottish/Irish/British. They islands have been segregated since the late 1800’s and people don’t intermix on the other islands as much since they became legally allowed to live on any island. They could previously visit, and twice a year, each racial group of the military would visit the other’s island and celebrate their comradeship (the main split is euro and Maori, there is an Asian minority that mainly lives in the euro side). The holiday is simply called Greetings Day.
>what is locally made
The government cannot afford much and it doesn’t have a large industrial capability. There is hardly a textile industry at all there, most things get imported to fill demand, despite a slow progress to develop some industry.

Food is supplied largely here though through fish, fruit, and some local rice farms. There is a small amount of beef available, many on the euro side have chickens for eggs. However the chicken feed is imported to meet demand as the grain and oats crops there are not enough sometimes.
>other shit
Relations with the usa got better after WWII, however the shady deals Haast has done with states like South Africa, Iran, and many others has led to relations being soured.

Relations with New Zealand and old commonwealth nations are their best ones.

the federation is off to a strong start

What do you mean?

He's obviously insulting you dude.

> Small arms
Ideally, a new battle rifle with a new cartridge would be designed along with a double stack pistol firing 7,62 Tokarev. Likely in practice those weapons would be initially issued to elite troops, with rear-end units/police/Party militia making do with a mix of looted Polish service weapons (repurposed again for former USSR ammo) and whatever would be illegally imported before the war of independence.
Also, bayonets, lots of them; civilian long guns would be required to have a bayonet lug too.
> Vehicles
Mostly light trucks, the new People's Republic would initially be too poor for armored warfare.
> Clothing/Gear
For field: whatever camo would be pragmatically useful. Jackboots would come back with a vengeance and be worn both in field and as a part of a dress uniform. Heavy body armor would be issued to all troops, giving them an edge in close quarters combat and bayonet charges, while logistics wouldn't matter too much in a country the size of Burundi. Soviet-style saperkas would be issued both as a tool and an auxiliary weapon.
> Doctrine
Asymmetric warfare primarily aiming to prevent a Polish military campaign in the first place. Disinformation, propaganda, corruption and economic sabotage would be leveraged to minimize the risk of repeated invasion, Warsaw finding itself in artillery range should sufficiently scare off the population and make a prospect of reconquest politically infeasible.
> Traditions
Martial virtues would be instilled in every citizen, with the bayonet, even if rarely used in actual combat, as a symbol of willingness to die in the service of the Leader, the Party and Motherland. The regular army would be a successor of pre-independence Party militia and identify with a history of struggle and street violence, with generalized patriotism as a main unifying idea. The Presidential Guard would form a more exclusive, quasi-monastic group dedicated to the ideology and personally loyal to the Leader.

cont.
> What would be imported/locally made?
Most small arms should be manufactured locally, in line with the Party's policy of import substitution. Bayonets would become somewhat of a meme due to news about banzai charges in the war of independence and thus sought by Jow Forums and mall ninjas alike. Local production of aforementioned entrenching tools is essential as to not raise red flags by importing massive numbers of these when the day of reckoning comes for the enemy within.

10/10 would serve

Wouldn't putting cigarettes in the MREs require you to open them? They're not watertight anymore once opened.

Sounds like Napoleon in Russia.

That's actually pretty typical for pre-modern armies. Most of your casualties would be from disease.
