No. Milled is just heavier and restricts what furniture you can buy while offering no tangible benefit.

Anyone have experience with .308 AKs and feel like giving some inputs? I kinda want something in a bigger caliber to try to build something like a DMR or battle rifle but haven't done enough research.

From my experience, it'll pretty much do about what you'd expect from a big boy ak. It'll be fairly accurate if you treat it like a dmr and is really fun if you want to shoot fast.

I used krylon epoxy for reference, but I think you could get away with not baking. It just wouldn't be as durable. If you dump a few mags it should cure the barrel anyway. if you have a heat gun, you could try that on the receiver.

Get a vepr308 or vepr fm-308 IMO with a 20" barrel. You can't really beat the wood sporter stocks for comfort IMO, but I love having the fm-308 with the folding stock.
IDK if I'd pay today's prices for it though if I didn't already have it, it was 1100 or something when I got my folder. Then again, I'm a big buy once cry once guy. I think anything short of saving and buying what you really want just makes it take even longer to get what you really want, if you ever do.

400 yards is as far as I go, performs well enough to hit my 13-14" steel plates if I do my part. I haven't tried it all that many times at 400 yet, but it seems on par with my other rifles.

It's been 100% reliable and all that with the factory mags so far, never tried any others. It just works so far.

Something like 1000(sporter with comfy wood stock) to 1800(my tube folder with rpk handguards)
No vepr is priced reasonably now, you get to pay a few hundred extra dollars for the privilege nowadays thanks to import bans.

If you're going to be super autismo about it, having the sight closer means you get less accuracy. This has zero effect if you're using a red dot or a scope though.

I think the gas block sight is lovely if done right, rifle dynamics rifles look great and part of it is the gas block for me. I plan on chopping the barrel down by ~4" like others do too, but don't feel like giving uncle sam $200 yet.

With the comp off my gun barely fit in the oven so I was able to do the 200deg before and 400deg after very easily. Hard to see from my potato tier picture, but it looks much better with the epoxy coat

Per some suggestions a few generals ago when I posted my shitty pseudo 103 build, dug in my parts bin for a triangle folder and a slant brake then ordered some cheap laminate 74 furniture and presto, I've reverted my 7.62 side folder to how it was intended to look (took me until that thread to realize the kp on my nodak "nds-1kp" receiver stood for "khyber pass". I'm retarded.) But I'm happier with how it looks, I've missed having wood on my AK.

It isn't a squareback FM. It's an $850 sporter that just needs a bullet guide. Arsenal would probably be cheaper than doing a full furniture conversion on the Vepr.

So I just got this Axion Kobra with a gun I won.

Well, we got it to work. EZ. Batteries in. Cover on. On/off switch flipped to on. Boom. Beautiful red dot. Was very happy.

I got it onto the gun, made sure it worked.

Well, I go for a couple minutes to get something to eat, having left the optic off, and to adjust my glasses.

I come back to look through it again, see all the optics available, etc --

And it's no longer working.

So I switched out the batteries. Three, maybe four times.

No go. It just stopped working.

Anyone got experience with Kobras? What can I do to troubleshoot?

You can file the hammer face down but as long as it only happens if you let it rest on the hammer first then it's really not an issue
