4, although the Germans had good weapons technology such as radio in tanks, v2 rockets, and the first jet aircraft in history, these weapons would not save them due to a multitude of factors such as lack of supplies like oil which would make their tanks and planes useless as well as poor tactics. although the blitzkrieg was a great tacit in the first years of the war, they never seemed to try anything else so when the soviets started applying effective counters to the blitz the Germans were up shit creek. another reason the Germans were not that great of an army was the politicians that got them into wars no one could win. the whole holocaust also fucked up their chance o winning as well as their harsh treatment of conquered territories. son in summery, poor political policy, inflexibility, killing of your own people due to race, lack of supplies and not winning over people to their side is why i would have to give the Germans a poor review.

I’m not a nahtzee but I do like German military technology, equipment and doctrine.

Like a 2. I respect many of their uniformed soldiers, sailors, and pilots (as I do practically any nation) and I really like some of their weapons and equipment. However the "clean" Wehrmacht was a myth I believed for a long time, along with the idea that the Heer was motorized and mechanized more than nearly anyone else. Learning more about it and I see why their advances into the USSR collapsed and I'm a lot more understanding of why the Red Army was so brutal when the tide of the war turned and they were the ones getting to go on the offensive and eventually pushing into Germany.
When you look at many of the "good" things the Wehrmacht is usually credited for coming up with, they go back to the German Empire or to the Weimar Republic. The additions the Wehrmacht (pushed by the Nazi Party) made to German military strategy were usually expensive, complex, and too specific in how they were to be implemented. Meanwhile the Heer as an overall fighting force relied on bolt action rifles, with infantry units built around supporting a machine gun crew, and usage of horses for logistics.
