Clay Pigeons of St Lo is a good read about tactics in hedgerows

>seems like a gigantic cluster fuck.
well it pretty much is

fact: the eighth army would have KILLED for a couple quadcopter drones with cameras on them

Did they actually scrap and weld chezch hedgehogs to Shermans to use as battering rams or is that old fuddlore?

tanklet here, is it implied that tanks can't penetrate hedgerows?

They can, but there were specially designed variants that could traverse them easier.

didn't both sides have combat engineers to use for route clearance? i would think chopping holes in hedgerows is objectively easier than mine clearing.

They're old medieval stone walls that vegetation and shit has grown over.

>is that old fuddlore?
>posts a picture of it
what do you think retard?

But was it as common and effective as fuddlore says it was? Any History Channel-tier documentary you watch is like:

>But American ingenuity saves the day!
*cut to a GI welding bullbars on a jeep
>They were able to weld scavenged German steel to their tanks
*picture shows a Hobart's Funny Sherman*
>And pounded Hitler's fearsome hedgerows into submission!

that's why dismounted infantry are useful, if neither side can traverse them then what's the clusterfuck?

>what's the clusterfuck?

The infantry can get ambushed or walk into mines just as easily, the hedges really favor the defender.

Have really solid communication lines between sections and platoons, and be well drilled in section attack tactics.

also explosives, lots of explosives

>the hedges favor the defender
don't let your hedges become capped?

Pretty sure that's wrong, but I'm not Norman.
