How come no one in the American military could come up with the idea of "Hey...

How come no one in the American military could come up with the idea of "Hey, maybe our landing boats should have doors that DON'T face the enemy machine guns"

>he doesn't know the machine gun emplacements were offset so the gunners would shoot up the length of the beach, not at the boats

Because they didn't, movies aren't real. The beach was like 700 ft from the hill and the MGs didn't look out to sea .

they did in the pacific actually

Anyone who has ever been to Normandy knows that image is BS. The distances were far greater. Anyway all thing considered that landing wasn't so expensive considering the shit that happened in the war, americans just can't stop talking about themselves.

where the fuck else are they gonna put it? on the back?

>soldiers pour out of the back of the landing craft
>into neck-deep water
>guys who don't know how to swim are fucked
>even guys who do are weighed down by now wet gear
>have to wade around landing craft to get to the beach anyway
>slow-moving targets for germans
>if you survived getting onto the beach, now you're soaked to the bone and still have to fight

there's no perfect place to put a door on a landing craft but fuck the front's probably the best

>where the fuck else are they gonna put it? on the back?
On the front, but let the doors open up on the sides. That way the entire crew isn't exposed from the front.

You would be speaking German right now, without America, Faggot

The Soviets won WW2, not the US. You would know what if your history education wasn't biased to brainwash your mutt mind

>where the fuck else are they gonna put it? on the back?
Literally yes. They'd already solved the problem, just couldn't deploy it in time for D-day

Attached: LVT.jpg (1458x917, 105K)

They sure were good a Dying

Attached: Finland.jpg (1024x811, 155K)

Nah the soviets won the war.

Because the entire point is that you go onto the ground and not into the water you fucktard

Because you're even more of a sitting duck if you're wading through neck deep water in full combat gear

>vatnik talks about brainwashing

Gee whiz that really sounds terrible looking at how things have worked out.

imagine America invading Europe in 1941? No, you cant' because they would have been wiped.

>You would be speaking German right now
Ugh, I WISH.

Tfw people without shoes, rifles, ammunition or even money won a war against a colossal military industrial power without any assistance from anybody else
Their strategy was literally throw as many men at the Germans as they can until the Nazis run out of ammunition.

"Throw your soldiers into a position from which there is no escape and they will prefer death to flight."-Sun Tzu

They want them going forward, not hiding behind the boats.

>The Soviets won WW2
Not without American lend lease. Although militarily they didn't do anything important ("b-b-but muh pacific", like who gives a shit), the logistical and economic contributions of the US cant be downplayed.

>Tfw people without shoes, rifles, ammunition or even money won a war against a colossal military industrial power without any assistance from anybody else
>without any assistance from anybody else
Stalin himself said they couldn't win without Lend Lease.

in reality the soldiers did not disembark from the boats and directly into machinegun fire. this was just some idiotic murder porn spielberg dreamed up because it was more interesting than the slow and frustrating battle that actually happened. in the film it appears that the landing took about ten minutes to go from the first wave to getting off the beach. in reality it took the entire day.

pic related, an actual photo of the beach, not some hollywood bullshit

Jesus Wept no wonder 99% of the people here are dumb as a brick

t.kike

>the soviets didn't win WW2 all by themselves

wow stop the presses this is some hard hitting historical research here

literally never seen this take ever

tbf the british bombing campaigns were utter shit... They bombed the shit out of civilian targets in France and couldn't hit a fucking uboat pen so much they feared the French would turn against them in case of invasion...

Can you actually imagine this picture in color juxtaposed with ? I'm so mad.

Why don’t you go visit Normandy?

the MG42, MG34 could reach 1,000 meters thus to you it not nothing but to an American infantryman that is long distance

Spotted the butt hurt antifag

It's times like this I'm glad Trump isn't going to build the wall. You deserve to have your kids raped by Mexicans.

I didn’t say it wasn’t

no, because the tide clearly isn't nearly close... Maybe you show up at the correct time the next time you want to take a picture you deepshit.

so that is reason why we make a big deal out of it against modern emaplaced MG positions that is murder alley for an infantrymen no commander would want to do that to his men

You realize you can reverse search the evidence, right vatniks?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lend-Lease#US_deliveries_to_the_Soviet_Union
>The United States delivered to the Soviet Union from October 1, 1941 to May 31, 1945 the following: 427,284 trucks, 13,303 combat vehicles, 35,170 motorcycles, 2,328 ordnance service vehicles, 2,670,371 tons of petroleum products (gasoline and oil) or 57.8 percent of the High-octane aviation fuel,[26] 4,478,116 tons of foodstuffs (canned meats, sugar, flour, salt, etc.), 1,911 steam locomotives, 66 Diesel locomotives, 9,920 flat cars, 1,000 dump cars, 120 tank cars, and 35 heavy machinery cars. Provided ordnance goods (ammunition, artillery shells, mines, assorted explosives) amounted to 53 percent of total domestic production
>soviets won WW2!
>nu-uh, it doesn't matter if they had so much US supplies!
Cope harder

Attached: 1462485918751.jpg (351x441, 63K)

There really wasn’t anywhere else they could land

>commander would want to do that to his men
They were only goyim.

>implying that's a bad thing

>soviets won WW2!
>nu-uh, it doesn't count because they were wearing US boots when they did all the important fighting!
Its not a cope, this lend-lease shit is just a non sequitur.

I know this is bait but I'll bite. It's the simplest method as it allows for the quickest evacuation of the boats contents whether it be men, supplies, or vehicles. The door method would remove any real capacity to carry supplies or vehicles and it would slow down the process of unloading soldiers. As for the back, on a boat its fucking retarded (propellers are a thing) but it was done on LCT's which were not possessed by the army at the time but by the marines.
>why could the army just get some then?
The LCT's were deployed from the inside of larger landing ships, ships that on Overlord were being used to carry larger vehicles like tanks and such. So if LCT's were used then they wouldn't be able to bring the tanks. The use of Higgins, Ducks and the english landing craft were the best option for the job at hand.

I know but still the lack of taking a risk with aircraft doing CAS to me makes no sense, that and the fact shore bombardment was not better thought out makes no sense, granted enemy artillery kept them out of visual range probably it just bothers me, you take risk wiht men in combat and accept casualties but to me the last end of this was poorly though out

okay I can see that you are actually mentally disabled so I'll cut the sarcasm. here is what is actually happening here: I am making fun of you for thinking you're some sort of myth-busting badass for advancing a theory which has been accepted, mainstream opinion for over 70 years.

this is literally the equivalent of posting that water is wet and expecting to be patted on the ass for it

watched enemy at the gates one too many times eh bob?

Weather was shit. Weather was barely good enough for the c-47s.

It was either GO on that day, or they would have had to wait another month

how did that work? any pics or explanations? im a retard that trusted movies up untill now

There's no way the British Empire would had been defeated by Germany. No landing force, no navy, no air superiority, and none of the vast resources of a colonial empire.

>7
forget that part, good point fair just when you actually been in charge soldiers stuff bothers you a lot more.

huh, thats interesting. thanks!

You're an idiot

You're also an idiot

No one cares about your nationalist shitflinging

Shit was fucked at Omaha beach.
theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/1960/11/first-wave-at-omaha-beach/303365/

If you was the first wave and followed orders and tried to land there you was almost guaranteed death.

I’ll wait friend

Oh yeah the Soviets won the war alright, with all their American equipment, food, water, and money. Without that, Hitler probably would have beaten them

Reminder that shitloads of spycraft and straight up misdirection made the Normandy landing less of a killing field than it might've been along with Hitler's shitty command

I’m eating some ravioli right now. I’ll try to resize once I’m done. 10min

ok so this is kind of a series. but this bunker is located to the right of this pictureas we were driving in. it had full view of the road that goes down to Vierville-sur-mer

Its kind of funny how russians managed to completely displace the fact that they are the ones that allowed hitler to rise up in first place. It is pretty telling how rest of the world considers WWII to have started in 1939, but if you ask a russkie, he will answer
>The Great Patriotic War 1941- 1945
Have you ever wondered why is that? Becasue in 1939 and 1940 russia was hitler's ally and partner. Right until 1941 Russia provided germany with steel, oil and all kinds of resources krauts needed to wage their war. For fucks sake, almost all german high quality steel production (the stuff used to make thanks, y'know? ) was completely relying on chrome and mangane imported from russia - and thats not even mentioning the iron itself which was also delivered courtesy of uncle Stalin. And the food krauts were eating? Almost quarter of german food were provided by the soviet import.

Russkies have a lot of gall bragging how about they defeated germany, when they are like a dindu that raised his pet pibble and then hails himself a hero after he fought him off when he tried to bite his head off.

>that "shadow"
GTFOH with your obvious shops,, who are you trying to fool with these?

Land locked Euros always overlook the massive naval strength it took to out match the Japanese in the Pacific. The all mighty royal navy wasn't gonna get that done on it's own. Gay europeans are gay

Just got it off google, hence “best I could find”

Idiotic murder porn? I'd call it the best depiction of what happened that day. I've read a really good account of what happened to the first wave after somebody posted the link on here. Whole boats of men absolutely did get cut down by machine guns but they were maybe 400 meters from the shore rather than 80-100 like in the "Spielberg murder porn" god damn you're a faggot.

oh man it was. you should do it. You MUST book your Beach tour through the Caen Memorial Museum. they make life super easy for you. You can stay in Caen (hotels are better), you get a free pass for the Caen Museum which is fantastic. Its even built on top of a german command bunker. So with a Day Pass, you get free access to the museum, and then you have a very small private tour where they take you all over the place. It was just me, the guide, and like 4 other people. He gave us 45 min at each location to explore all on our own. So i went all over

normandy.memorial-caen.com/your-visit/your-own-family-or-friends/day-trips

shall we go into the bunker at Pointe-Du-Hoc?

Attached: DSCN0111.jpg (3456x2592, 3.02M)

>an mg42 would still be in its emplacement 80 years later

This. If those bunkers were coastal they'd be at the mercy of the navy with ease. Look what we did to Islands in the Pacific.

So why shop one in? Again, who are you trying to fool?

Attached: DSCN0106.jpg (3456x2592, 2.16M)

>That little hut on the beach

I wonder how many guys his behind that. I would've.

Ever heard of a mock-up, dillweed?

if nobody is interested im going to stop posting

So why "mock up" the gun but leave in the parking lot and houses, fuck tard?
