can i get an appraisal?
1894 dated '92 matching berthier carbine. american GI bringback i believe because it escaped the french refurbs. still has the clearing rod slot (with a carcano rod unfortunately). i bought a bayonet + sling off gunbroker

part of me thinks this is worth more than a run of the mill berthier but the other part of me knows that americans dont give a shit about french funs

Attached: 20190202_214430.jpg (4032x3024, 3.25M)

also shes duffel cut, i have a box of 1960s commerical but im too afraid to shoot her because the bolt screw & bolt head keeps unloosening itself with dry fire

how much is a m39 worth these days? the fun store had 2 with S marks on the stocks and receivers but they wanted 700 each for them and fuck paying that much for a nugget.

>I own obsolete rifles

You will die in the race war.

If they had really pretty wood, then that wouldn't be awful. M39 prices seem to be going nuts, and I want one.

Attached: 20190103_153145.jpg (4032x1960, 3.9M)

ok heres my m39
i got mine for $400 last summer. then again i also yeeted a gewehr 98 for $400

Attached: 20190202_220445.jpg (4032x3024, 2.52M)

I love my M39.

Will 1903 clips work on arisaka in 30-06
Ive heard they work with normal arisakas

looking to downsize so i can save up for a miata, convince me to keep my m91/30 since i already have an m39

gunbroker.com/item/797901387
>mauser 8mm
oh nice
>.45acp wait wtf

Reminder M39 owners should remove their stock and check the tang date, they may be pleasantly surprised.

Attached: IMG_3699.jpg (1753x2761, 1.36M)

Keep the 91/30, the miata eventually comes.

>bubba a rifle
>don't bother turning down the bolt handle.
What the fuck, also, what the fuck is that crest?

>tfw 99
fuck my shit
why though? its not like i have friends that could shoot the 2nd mosin

One year away from non-firearm and a $200 premium if you wanted to sell it

Attached: Tsorry.png (498x214, 96K)

M39 is best MN

That's sort of neat. Not $540 neat though.

that's not how it works, the cutoff doesn't go forward every year it's permanently fixed at 98

thats right dipshit, he has 1899, so he missed it by a fucking year.

Learn to comprehend English

they were pretty much the exact nugget I always wanted to own but $700 seems like too much. I wish the price tag was visible in this picture because the first time I saw them it said $600 and I was going to trade my m44 plus $200 for one, but then when I came back to do the trade it was up to $700 and the kikes swore it had always been that way.

Attached: 0718181541-00.jpg (1600x1200, 346K)

fuck you nigger
>he
me

why do lee-enfields have such shit looking stocks most of the time? Yeah I get they're old but the wood looks like it was dug out from a fucking bog or swamp

A lot of them were used in the trenches during the First World War, and during rehabs they were dunked in raw linseed oil.

Top one is NOS Australian coachwood

the other is very used walnut

Attached: SMLE stocks.jpg (2625x1985, 1021K)

What are your opinions on a M43 Spanish Mauser?

Huh, is Raw Linseed Oil bad for long term or something? I do know BLO is a very traditional way of finishing gun stocks

I like Perkele Nuggets. How does it shoot? Is the quality better than your usual Ruskie Nugget? I'm sad that I missed out the the few imports they had a year or two ago and now they're like $600.

I bought my M39 about 4 years ago for $450 at my lgs. Does anybody know anything about some having peep sights? All the ones ive seen have had the standard notch but mine doesnt.

Raw linseed just takes longer to polymerise.
No boiled linseed should have been applied to any british stocks. Enfields were initially put into heated pressure tanks to apply the first oil but then soldiers were issued ~2 oz. per year for applying themselves.

Mines Russian. It's got Tula factory markings

Posted in the last thread, but what are some warning signs with 1903s? I assume you want matching numbers- barrel, receiver, stock? But is there anything else?

Local store has a 1903-A3 for $700. Wood looks nice, bore looks decent, and wear on the metal isn’t too bad. It’s a Remington in the 407xxxx range.

Attached: 7BEFE5D6-63AC-4089-AD59-681DF704CC16.jpg (1962x4032, 1.09M)

US guns aren't like European ones - they didn't serialize parts to guns. Check the magazine cutoff to make sure it doesn't look like it's been welded up and dremeled out. That's a sure sign of a converted drill rifle. Anyone who mentions low numbers on an '03-A3 is a fool; that only applies to '03s and is a meme anyway. Personally, the finish on the metal seems suspect to me. It looks reparked, and Remington 'A3s should have blued parts besides.

>someone finally selling a ljungman near me
>2k minimum

fucking boomers man

I asked in the QTDDTOT thread first but it's a bit slow and I figured you guys would be a bit more informed on this matter. Any suggestions?

Attached: 42520856_1883672498376138_8293037276787638272_n.jpg (772x960, 81K)

The only part that is serialized is the Reciever. The barrel will have a MM-YY date at the end like most US rifles. You can look for Cartouches on the stock like a rack number under the wrist near the trigger guard and maybe look around for manufacturers marks. Though I only know how to look for Smith-corona marks and not the others.

and that metal looks very odd. like that shit doesn't look like an arms factory redid it.

best you will find is a mas-49/56. I'd recommend the 7.5 versions as the .308 were done by fat Americans and tend to not work as reliably.

Post more pics. A lot of the ones that weren't updated actually came from Poland.

Does anyone else get seriously nervous in the days before an auction? There's an auction with five rifles I'm interested in, and I know I'll win at least one, but my god is it nerve wracking.

Got this Springfield from a show today for a grand gonna shoot her tomorrow

idk what you want to see, give me a (you) so my phone will notify me tomorrow morning (its 1am east coast)

Attached: 20190203_010643.jpg (4032x3024, 2.57M)

If you want a wood stocked scoped rifle, go buy a Mossberg Patriot. There is no point in you fucking up a surplus rifle that won't shoot as well as a modern bolt anyway. What you ask for didn't exist, since only snipers in WW2 used glass, and you won't touch anything in that class for under $2k.

Serial number on the barrel. Polish ones usually have like a Z in a triangle near there.

if you want a hunting rifle just buy a modern one. if you want a historical rifle get a historical scope to go with it and deal with the fact that it's going to suck.

>living near blacks

New gat in addition to the Mexican Mauser I have on order.

>Buy SKS
>Buy chinesium dust cover with picatinny rail
>Buy chinesium scope to match

Literally the only way to do what you're describing cheaply

Go to gunbroker
Type "sporterized" in the search bar
Sort by price lowest to highest
Literally several pages of 98's, 1917's, smle's, and springfields already modified for under $500

>I want to do something everyone in this thread will hate, but please validate me anyway

Now fuck off with your troll posting.

>tfw no M39
Does my Finn'd M91 count?

Attached: M91 (1899) profile.jpg (3000x838, 556K)

Fuck yeah. I get nervous as fuck at the auction when I’m bidding on something, too. But a majority of the gun auctions I’ve been to, I go home with something I wanted at a price I’m happy with. It’s not very often I leave without buying anything.

Attached: 78CD23DF-8ABF-4C88-9610-FBD603BD769F.jpg (2048x1536, 1.04M)

The cost of a proper military scope will be greater than the cost of a bargain hunting rifle with scope and will have poorer performance than said hunting rifle as well. Do not "modify" your surp to be something it is not and likely never was.

Attached: 20180208_171048.jpg (4032x804, 821K)

The standard rear sight of m/39 has sight leaf with U-notch. Finnish Army competition shooters m/28-57 rifles built for them - it has action & barrel from m/28-30 rifle, rifle stock from m/39, turned down bolt and diopter sights from Suomen Leijona target rifle. In addition there are also some some m/39 rifles equipped with diopter sights in Finnish market, but they were never an official rifle model. Anyway - all of these have diopter rear sight attached to left side of rear receiver.

If you have peep sight attached in sight tangent of rear sight, then it is likely US post-market sight. There is a Murican guy in Gunboards Forums that is selling peep rear sight and new higher front sight post combination shown in attached photo. If that is what you have, they do not require any permanent modifications, so they can be easily replaced with original sights if needed.

Attached: Sights_4.jpg (300x400, 20K)

Another pic showing both sights.

Attached: Peep_sights_2.jpg (640x480, 50K)

Idiotic thinking. If all they own is not semi auto or select fire milsurp I can understand the sentiment but it hardly makes it true.

Cmon, man. Don’t take the bait.

What is a typical asking price for a Finnish Mosin M39, and an SVT-40? Assuming both are decent condition with matching parts. Genuinely curious. I've checked out Gunbroker and the prices for both seem to be all over the place. Would a gun show have better prices?

Attached: 10707c2a28b9af6bf9beab8358d53d0e.jpg (1000x904, 119K)

$400-$500 if you could find the right buyer and were patient enough

god dammit Jow Forums. What is wrong, me or the rifle?

Kar98k 25 meters.

Those sights are just terrible, man.

Attached: 2019-02-03 12.08.34.jpg (2656x1494, 613K)

$350-$450 for a M39
$1100-$1300 for a svt40

diopter sights of this design suck ass. the entire point of an aperture is to be close to your eye. ring sights halfway down the gun are stupid and defeat the purpose and advantage that apertures give of quick sight alignment

Really? Fuck. The prices on Gunbroker are complete rips then. It seems that every time I check the M39s are twice what you stated, and the SVT-40s seem to be anywhere from $1,500 - $2,500. Are the sellers on Gunbroker just trying to price-gouge a potential idiot?

Attached: 1548986094424.jpg (300x168, 5K)

>hey guys, i want to choose my hunting rifle by 60+year old vintage war issue types that have modern aftermarket options for shitty pistol scopes. yeah i dont care about important shit like calibers or weights i just want to spend $500 on a setup that will ruin a piece of history, be shittier overall and cost more to shoot than a $300 modern rig designed for my application
what a backwards way of thinking.

>are sellers on gunbroker trying to price gouge a potential idiot?
YES.

are you checking sold listings or the listings that the retard 60 year old boomers keep relisting every 2 weeks for years on end without compromising on their prices?

Well, I learned something new today. Thank you. And no, I did not think to check the sold listings. My bad.

Attached: 1544388062123.png (364x481, 157K)

the only m39s that i see sell more than that are either mint condition or antique receiver so theres a premium for having it exempt from paperwork

Nothing wrong with them. They seem to be alright quality, probably on par with a decent yugo. Make sure it's matching, and don't pay more than $300 or so unless it's one of the more rare versions

Attached: 20190113_144541-3024x1470.jpg (3024x1470, 1.57M)

gunbroker.com/item/797212985

see, typical boomer example. worn beat up m39, nothing special, common maker. $600, zero bids, nobody will buy it and he will relist in perpetuity for 8 months until some noob who just gets into milsurp and doesnt know how gunbroker works decides to buy it.

I'm hungry as fuck, what should I eat for breakfast?

Attached: Yugo M59-66 profile.jpg (3000x801, 835K)

>gunbroker.com/item/797212985

another one of his listings:
gunbroker.com/item/797212780

thats who you are dealing with on gunbroker. the fuddiest of boomers who think their shit is worth 10 times what they paid

i havent slept yet, what should i fap to?

go for this one, it will probably top out around $420
gunbroker.com/item/798352145

Boomers are the worst, but sometimes you can sneak deals out from under them (pic related).

Attached: Turk M38 profile.jpg (3000x799, 1.13M)

I always wondered if those antique M39s were sketchy or not (Seeing that no FFL is required). I'm assuming they're trustworthy, decent guns?

I've shot several antique guns, the oldest of which is my 1891 Carcano (1894 dated), and it shoots very well with zero problems

Attached: 1891 Carcano profile.jpg (3000x906, 710K)

>tfw I coulda gotten an SVT-40 on gunboards for $1000 plus shipping like 3 months ago
>I had the jump on everyone as I managed to view the post 2 minutes after it was posted
>but I had just bought a house that week and my savings account took a huge hit

That might be the biggest milsurp purchase regret I’ll ever have.

federal law says a receiver is considered the firearm.

federal law says firearms built before january 1, 1899, are considered antique and thus exempt from the GCA.

so nothing sketchy about it, if the guns (receivers) were built 1898 or before they are not subject to GCA regulations like needing an FFL and are regulated the same way black powder muskets are

a house is a better investmnet, your house is probbaly gained value in the last 3 months, the housing market is ridiculous right now. starting to slow down though, we should see the crash within the next 5 years or so. boomers are starting to die off

Damn, that's painful. I just had to dip into my saving a week ago to help pay for an all matching Persian Mauser with the matching bayonet, but I managed to sneak away with it for $550; it should be here on Tuesday.

Attached: Gew 88-05-35 snow.jpg (2997x935, 940K)

you faggot i wanted it, was that the one for $780 asking?

sucks being broke right now, cant afford shit but i cant stop looking for deals anyway. i just like to look and torture myself if i find something

No it was this one. It's literally like in perfect condition.

oh i remember you posting that last night and telling me about the blue filter because i was confused on the pic color. that was a sweet score for sure, enjoy

check the crown
rear stock screw might be too tight
probably you though

spanish mausers have weaker actions and can't be rechambered to more powerful calibers. if you leave it how it came they're fine though.

I have a whole bunch of new pictures. Starting with my new Enfield.

Attached: 20190203_094820.jpg (3845x901, 3.18M)

No? Spanish M93 actions are just as strong as other m93 mauser, and the M43s are just as strong as any other 98 pattern mauser. I've seen no evidence to suggest otherwise. And anyone who remembers a military mauser that isn't already fucked is a bubba.

Rechambers damnit.
