FLIR Breech/Thermal General

I Bought one of these things so when the day of reckoning comes I will be one step ahead of the redguards/preferably in the dark. That or I got memed.
Also thermal scope general?

Isn't the refresh rate too slow to be practical in that sense? Thought it was more of a spotting scope for deer.

NVG>Thermal for navigation. Thermals are car scopes and maybe overlays like the ENVG but shit can get cluttered fast.

Not OP but the refresh rate is actually great on that if not mistaken.

I personally hate the hybrid NVG/Thermal. As you say its really clustered fucked as hell and also even for the government boots way too expensive tax dollar wise, i.e $16K+.
I think the best setup is to have one thermal monocular and one pvs14 on the other eye and just switch when the situation warrants it.

You are officially a predator now.

Whats a good type of weapon to mount a FLIR optic onto?
Just a sharpshooters rifle? Or are than any other reasons to mount one to any other type of gun?

OP here I don't believe the PTQ is suitable for weapons mounting.

In BF4 I had FLIR on the M249 and I wrecked ass.

In real life I only ever used NVGs for like night live fires with the M4 but I just mag dumped down range because it didn't matter.

Ohhhh. My bad. I didn't know it was a spotting scope.

No that's fine. its a common question, I don't know the testing or specs but I assume it would get broken if you attempted to use it mounted to a weapon.

>M249 and I wrecked ass.
Makes sense an LMG and sharpshooter rifle have alot of the same doctrine of use
>Mostly fixed position from prone or bipod.
>Great area of denial use due to either; volume of fire or precision shot placement.
>Suppression for same reason as above.

How were the government issued NVGs I assume they were pvs14s? Were they a pain in the ass about accounting them since I assume they are expensive and dumb asses would find ways to break em.

Any unaccounted for SI is a pain in the ass. Someone loses something in the field and the whole company is going to be out there looking for it. Usually it's some LT's radio that never left his vehicle. A lot of guys tie nods to themselves with paracord so it is harder to lose

one of the best times i'd ever had at a range was shooting a 249 with thermals. shit was so cool felt like i was in call of duty

>SI
is that an inspection? sorry im navy idk

serialized item is my guess

xcuse me

sensitive item

>SI
sensitive item, aka what you better have available for inspection. Lost SI reflects on the commander and the whole unit and is recorded in accounting books, while expensive non-si stuff can be swept under the rug with some pushups and the unit slush fund

Battery life might be a consideration when buying thermal vision. The FLIR breach uses a CR123 battery and only gets like 3 hours of run time. On the other hand, a pvs-14 monocular can get 40 hours off of one AA battery.

Fuck off flirfag, cancer like you ruins the game. Why don't you be useful and run around dispensing ammo to your teammates instead of camping

Do thermal imaging scopes give off an IR signature visible to other Nightvision/Thermal scopes?

No, at least it shouldn't (?)
A thermal imager isn't really a camera per say in the optical sense. It's more of a sensor that detects unseen radiation emitted from heat. The contrast between hot and cold is how you (see) plus various other scheming that gives you a type of NVG.
True Night vision just takes ambient light and basically amplifies it to the viewer. With that being said, the lenses on a thermal scope aren't as important with NVGs. You have a good night vision tube but if the glass is shitty it won't matter.

I could respect someone buying it because they think its cool. I have little respect for prepper faggots thinking they will need it when the whole country is a giant FFA gun battle because of SHTF. These are people thinking ammo is more important than food, water and skills or think a 1 acre plot is enough to farm enough food for a family all year.

Some of the stuff I buy is impractical, but I think it's cool. I don't try and justify it by claiming SHTF. I have a 10/22 with a tactical stock, VFG, red dot and a 1 point sling, simply because it makes me laugh. I'm not getting ready for some rabbit zombie uprising.

I was talking about battlefield 4, baka
