Is this $1700 piece of shit worth it or no...

Is this $1700 piece of shit worth it or no? I've got a lot of money to blow but I'm curious if it's actually made by Colt or if it's another one of their abominations that they outsourced to some chucklefucks in a garage somewhere and then slapped the Colt rollmark on it.

I bought one. its a good looking pistol but the metal is very soft and dings really easy. I found the mettalurgy weak.

It's cool but not that cool. Just get a colt combat rail and cerakote it if you need a tan 1911.

When did you buy yours? I remember they had a really bad problem with the Cerakote on the first production of them, so bad the Marine Corps had to actually return a huge order of them. But that was like 7 years ago now, you would think they would have fixed that a long time ago.
I know it'll sound gay as fuck but honestly the thing I like about it most is that it's the exact same gun the military gets. When you get a civilian version of any military gun there's always that little bit of sadness that it isn't full-retard like the real ones, but that's not an issue to worry about with a sidearm.

If you want to larp with "REAL MILITARY ISSUED", get an M17 commemorative. At least it's actually made by sig, even if it's grossly overpriced.

If you want a 1911, then maybe get one of those CMP 1911 that were actual military guns.

Gross, you could get a sexier gun for less from Kimber
>OMG LOL A KIMBER HAHAHAAH
Fuck you guys, kimbers are sexy

Why do people always assume you're some kind of LARPer if you collect military firearms? I've been collecting milsurp my whole life, I've got stuff from the 1700s through the modern day. I just want to add one to my collection because even if it's dogshit by modern standards, in a hundred years when my great-grandkid has it in his safe it'll be a cool family heirloom or something.

I got the ion bonded one that looks green/burnt bronze. The mettalurgy is the issue not the coating.

I wouldn't spend 1700 on it again tbqh.

Muhreens bought Kimbers and Springfields as replacements for their M1911A1s so those are just as accurate for larp desu.

Get a Dan Wesson

So you're saying you would rather collect a dog shit commercial gun made for larpers over a commemorative gun made for collectors or an actual military surplus gun? It sound like you already made up your mind, just go buy it then.

As far as I know it's the same gun they sell to the Marine Corps, that's why I've been thinking about getting one. I already have literally a dozen or more military surplus pistols. As I said, I collect military firearms. And secondly as far as I am concerned, anything made specifically "for collectors" is never collectible.

I have a Kimber and I unironically love it. Not sure where all the hate comes from.

Checked. The meme comes from poorfags on Jow Forums that hate everything they can't afford even if they've literally never even seen one in person

>Is this $1700 piece of shit worth it or no?
No. A DW specialist is 1.7 times better for slightly cheaper. Don't buy nucolt, they're just coasting on the brand name.

Are you twelve or something? kimbers hit QC and business practices are well documented, although they do seem to be a little better these days than their low point a while back. Presumably because they've managed to improve a bit since ((cohen)) moved on to greener pastures to shit all over sometime in the mid or late 00s.

No, it comes from Kimber having very serious QC problems after re-orienting their company focus more to advertising and less to quality control, much the same as Sig is doing.

Coincidentally Ron Cohen, the CEO of Sig was an executive at Kimber as well.

Doesn't change the fact that 99% of the poorfags bitching about them on this board have never even held one. You can hate on them all you want, I don't own one and I don't give a shit. But Jow Forums is notorious for hating anything that is popular or expensive

>But Jow Forums is notorious for hating anything that is popular or expensive
Yeah, the difference being Kimbers were cracking frames left and right. Poorfags shrieking about say, HK, can never really bring up much of substance other than whining about the price.

Most of the hate has nothing to do with the price though, since most of Jow Forums has very little interest in 1911s at that pricerange. I don't think I've ever seen anyone under 45 who owned a Kimber.

Fuck for that price you could get a bare bones coonan .357 1911

Checked

Kimbers are poorfag as fuck.

>Is this $1700 piece of shit worth it or no?

No. Read these articles:

1.) soldiersystems.net/2012/07/20/marsoc-winning-colt-guns/
2.) marinecorpstimes.com/news/your-marine-corps/2016/09/30/marines-opt-for-the-9-mil-over-45s-for-special-operators/

They corroborate what said about poor quality of manufacture.

That's about the most boring gun you could spend $1700 on.

> (((Cohen)))
I hate it when pol is always right

>Poorfags shrieking about say, HK, can never really bring up much of substance other than whining about the price.

Did you forget the part where HK goes above and beyond what the law requires and only sells massively neutered products to civilians? Or how the stock triggers on all of their pistols suck dick? Did you miss the threads where anons who bought USP Compacts had CZ-tier finish machining on their slides and their guns getting constant FTE with 115 grain standard pressure ammo, only for Jow Forums to bend over backwards to defend HK's honor?

>that grip

pass.

>Did you forget the part where HK goes above and beyond what the law requires
Because they aren't bound by only US import law, but also German export law.
>Or how the stock triggers on all of their pistols suck dick?
No, I've heard that over-exaggeration plenty.
>Did you miss the threads where anons who bought USP Compacts had CZ-tier finish machining on their slides and their guns getting constant FTE with 115 grain standard pressure ammo, only for Jow Forums to bend over backwards to defend HK's honor
Yes, I did miss it and am very interested in seeing that, because I don't believe you. I've never once seen an HK with anything less than excellent fit and finish. I have heard of USP's requiring a break-in period however. I haven't experienced it, but I've heard of it.

Chinkshills thinking they're hot shit with a "deck mounted railgun".

Fuckin' US of A now with god damn hand held railguns. How can communists even compete?

Lol butthurt. If you werent a larper this wouldnt have triggered you.

All paints are "ion bonded" you brainlet. Its marketing.

I don't do three gun bullshit or run around in the desert "clearing rooms" made out of cardboard. When I go to the range I wear a flannel shirt and blue jeans like a normal human being as opposed to multicam tacticool shit with 400 pockets. Stop projecting. I'm interested in this gun because it's the civilian version of a US military firearm that is currently in production and it would be a neat thing to have a couple decades down the road. I just came here to ask if they're total garbage or not like many new Colt products, because if it is the marginal collector's value to me isn't worth paying $1700 for a brick.

So far the only constructive comments I've gotten in here are warnings about the quality of its finish and metallurgy. If you don't have anything to contribute just fuck off.
