I have never had someone tell me I would go to jail for a 50 yard self defence shot, but I have heard dozens of people say I will never ever need to shoot a handgun at 50 yards. I enjoy it. One time I got lucky and killed a ground squirrel at about 50 yards with a 9mm Sig P226.
