Imma let you finish but I just want to say that the Vz 33 has the best Czech crest of all times

I want to get a clamp-on scope mount for my K31. I originally found one for a good $60-70 but found swissproductsusa selling them for $50. How is swissproducts? Is there a better place for buying the scope mounts?

Very true, but I'm pretty sure this is a Brazilian contract gun since it's in 7mm.

This is my moses nugget, I recently added a lee einfield to the collection.

God I love that sort of marbled/striped wood. Only way it could be any better is if it had a slight red tint to it.
If I were to get a nugget stock what should I look for to have that look?

Picked up an 80$ K98k labaled as a “piece of shit Mauser” stamped up and dated 1939. No jew markings or capture. Something is wrong with the safety and doesn’t allow the bolt to close with out digging into the stock, the barrel is sewer pipe status. It’s also missing some things like the stock plate and hood for the sight. Probably no chance in this gun ever working again but I still like it

wall hangers/dewats are always cool af in my opinion. nice find user

You can always part it out. Very easy to make back the money you spent.

Attached: Argentine 1891 profile.jpg (3500x827, 708K)

How much should I be paying for a Russian capture K98?
>numbers all "match" but are 100% electro stencil
>still has the waffenamt marks and code marks, but has an "X" stamped onto the receiver above the serial number
>stock is coated in some dark red shellac, all parts have a thick gooey Mosin styled finish to them (including the buttplate)
>receiver is a Code 42 1939
>gun is functionally fine (clean bore, etc)

I bought a nugget maybe 5 years ago for $120. Good condition too. I havne't been into shooting much over the past few years though and I'm only just getting back into it. Are they still found that cheap or have prices risen? I remember when Jow Forums used to post pics of crates of nuggets.

$650 max. I'd go $700 if it has all the pre-war features (no cupped butt plate, milled floor plate, etc.) but that's mostly my autism.

>Mosin prices

i know its a finnish one but holy fuck

>magic meme mosins
>being sold by the infamous gray blanket man of much shill bidding
You stop that right now. Next you're gonna post that early mosin that has the prototype bayonet lug and early sights.

Haven’t bought much from gun shows because I can never find good deals. But I got this for $270 3 years ago. The guy actually met me outside the gun show. He said that the bore wasn’t great because somebody shot corrosive and didn’t clean it. But I cleaned it up at home and it looks fine so idk what he was talking about.

Attached: 92E3B790-76CB-4C45-9508-A210E230CB16.jpg (3069x2303, 2.84M)

A lot of fudds don't realize this cool thing called a brass brush exists. I once had someone sell me an early Type 99 who claimed the bore was "dark and had pitting". I immediately knew this was bullshit since early 99s have chrome bores. Lo and behold, it was perfectly shiny and fine underneath, but it required a ton of cleaning to get there.

You're right I will.

But yeah prices have gone up. $300ish is the new norm for a standard 91/30. Ironically you can get a Finn m91 for around the same price, which is a more interesting, if slightly worse performing, rifle to me.

At this point you're better off finding a nice M91 for around $375 to $400. For whatever reason people don't seem to like them much. The same goes for things like the M27, M28, and M28/30 too. All the obsession seems to focus around the M39 and M91/30.

For the price I’m very happy, it was literally the only k98 besides a few 1898 models. I’m tempted to try using a brass brush which was mentioned in this thread to clean it up, right now it’s got a ton of loose junk in the bore. The safety is in a weird down position and corroded so it just plows into the stock. Would swapping the bolt for a functioning one make it live again?

I’m taking it to a local gunsmith next week before i attempt anything, I also have no problem having a wall hanger until a functioning k98 comes my way.

Only 'surp I've ever bought at a gun show. Cost me a Remington 710 and $50.

>t allow the bolt to close with out digging into the stock
The bolt is uncocked. Google "re-cocking Mauser 98 bolt" and watch a couple videos; it's a simple problem to fix.

Where have you gotten the rest of yours? pawn shops/gun stores or online?
pic related my first gun show buy.

>pawn shops/gun stores or online?
Mostly auctions or private sales. My little Argie 1891 carbine came from a pawn shop. RIP Pioneer Pawn of Tomah, WI.

Attached: Argie_M1891_rifle+carbine_08-02-2018_B.jpg (1600x900, 1.17M)

I've mostly gotten mine from pawn shops or gun stores. I've snagged some pretty sweet deals.

Attached: 1898 Krag–Jørgensen profile.jpg (3000x850, 651K)

Also, how much did your 1891 long rifle cost?

Attached: Argentine 1891 side.jpg (3000x2000, 1.19M)

$250. No crest, but matching down to the cleaning rod. Not a great shooter unfortunately, even with surplus 7.65. The carbine does OK.

Attached: Argie_M1891_rifle+carbine_Range_08-02-2018_B.jpg (1600x1200, 1.66M)

It has been one hour since user has purchased a milsurp firearm.

Attached: IMG_2364_01.jpg (1280x960, 228K)

That's a nice price. Got mine for $275, all matching. It's very accurate, very good bore on it. No crest sadly.

Do you feel more complete? Also this is now a C R E S T thread

Attached: Persian 98-29 crest.jpg (2000x3000, 1.27M)

I do. I realized the last three guns I bought were 91/30s, so I figured I'd better get something more respectable. Ended up paying $400.00. Guy had it listed on the wrong state's Armslist. Pics are the sellers; I'll take better ones in a few weeks.

Congratulations.

Saw a mauser 95 for 270 at a gunshow. Didnt grab it but was really thinking about it, was it a good deal?

Yes, you missed out.

Attached: 20180101_133357.jpg (3304x1113, 2.76M)

Dont do this to me user, was my first gunshow and didnt really know wtf I was doing.

>was it a good deal?
Great price if matching (Chilean M95?) Decent price even if mis-matched.

Attached: Spanish1893_8-18-2016_F.jpg (768x1024, 510K)

The longer you collect the more deals you miss. I've passed on a $300 49/56, $600 Vz52/57, a $500 Type 44.... it happens man.

That an interesting czech, very jealous m8. Looks like a Brazilian

>Also this is now a C R E S T thread
My favorite so far

Dude, I had a $550.00 MAS 44 get taken from under my fingertips last weekend at a show. It happens. Read up and keep a good eye, and it won't happen to you next time.

It is. All matching and in 7mm. Got it for $440.

Is haggling acceptable at gunshows? I'm not talking lowballing, but offering like 360 for a 400 dollar gun.

But is it WHIIITE! ?

Attached: Argentine_M1909_Rifle_Crest.jpg (768x1024, 182K)

I haven't bought anything since last September.

>Is haggling acceptable at gunshows?
Sure.

Attached: M1903_09-22-2018_crest.jpg (1600x900, 923K)

Absolutely, and expected. The only time I don't haggle is when the gun is underpriced anyways and I don't want someone to offer asking price in the same breath I offer $50 under. I think I got some $40 off pic related just because I asked.

Attached: 20181028_122657-1470x3024.jpg (1470x3024, 1.21M)

Try it, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
>TFW you accidentally talk the seller out of haggling by whipping cash out like you're trying to impress him
Oh well, it was still only $300.

Attached: 20190203_094952.jpg (3957x1069, 2.87M)

>tfw I haggled a $20 item down to $10 and only had a $20 dollar bill
I just paid full price and walked off, spaghetti spilling everywhere.

Ive got the 1889 infantry rifle in the mail and a k11 on order so excite.

Only a not beat to shit 96/11 amd 1911 infantry rifle to go, and maybe a veterli or cavalry manlicher.

at least you didn't ask for 10 dollars in change like a dickhead.

Try ammo with a heavier round nose flat based bullet. Mine didn’t shoot with a shit with spitzer bullets either.

Attached: 6AD54C13-E6DB-443B-B198-DAE659A052ED.jpg (3264x2448, 2.99M)

Absolutely 100% acceptable to haggle on used items. If it's used it doesn't matter if it's a gunshow or shop.

Attached: 20190216_0828183 copy.png (1829x1097, 3.33M)

Every single gun I've got in person except for one I've haggled down from the marked price

Attached: Surp family.jpg (3000x1198, 1.39M)

You got ammo for that thing?

I think about 300 rounds of Austrian surplus now. It's in a closet back home with the rifle.

I think my M95 eventually wound up in Bulgaria. From what I understand they were the only ones to serialize bolts to the rifles.

Attached: Steyr M95 scrubbed crest.jpg (2000x1333, 428K)

>what should I look for to have that look?
Don't get a laminated stock for one, mine is Arctic Birch. I also don't know how some turn out like that, it's pretty rare. Another user here has one like mine, but it's really just luck of the draw, unless you refinish the wood. Mine came like that, my dad got really lucky when he got it, it was plastic wrapped and in cosmoline and he didn't even know what it looked like when he bought it for me.

Attached: M91-30 (1943) snow.jpg (2995x1111, 1.05M)

I've only seen that in ones that were obviously heavily-buffed before re-bluing during refurbishment, and all the markings are usually equally diminished. That certainly looks deliberate, seeing how they left the model designation alone.

Attached: WW1_service_rifles_10-31-2018_A.jpg (1600x1039, 1.59M)

Yeah but mine wasn't re-blued. Kinda weird. But it is all matching though and accurate.

Is there any company that makes Lee Enfield repros?

extra gbp=extra swivel

Attached: 20160626_135828.jpg (3264x2448, 1.81M)

Alright /MSG/ I've got a pretty big project coming up. Not anytime soon, but I may get a jump on it. My stepfather wants me to have his father's G 33/40. I don't know when and I doubt it'll be soon, but I'm not going to push it. Im in no rush to make him give up his father's last gun. It's a DOT 1942, and as the picture shows its in meh condition. Bore is nice, but the rifle is mismatched as all fuck. Problem is it's in a sporter stock. It'll be pricey to bring back, and I've done it with a No.4 and M1917 so I know I can, but for the life of me I cannot find any of those buttplates/ sheet metal side plates. Are they one piece or two pieces? Also, did these have special barrel bands or just regular K98 ones?

Attached: 20190217_130434.jpg (4032x3024, 3.18M)

You probably just need to re-cock the striker to get the bolt functioning again.

>Are they one piece or two pieces?
Two pieces.
>Also, did these have special barrel bands or just regular K98 ones?
Their own, and not even the same as Vz.33 bands.

Attached: vz33-and-vz24-and-G33-40.png (2842x1266, 2.27M)

This European company makes brand new repro stocks. They're aren't cheap and they're made to order. fox-military.com/en/stock.php?id_produkt=56

They're my go to if I can't find an original. I've seen a few originals on gun broker sitting at the $300 mark, minus all the metal bits naturally. Occasionally sanded and refinished, but with this already piecemeal rifle I won't mind
God fucking damnit. That'll be a long hunt, would regular K98 bands fit, just so I have a placeholder and can shoot it?

>would regular K98 bands fit, just so I have a placeholder and can shoot it?
A Vz.24 front band would sort-of fit for the front, but you'll have to drill a new hole on the left side for the band spring detent. As for the lower band you could maybe use a Kar.98k one but since it's wider than the original you might have to either remove some material from the spring or cut a notch in the band for the spring to fit into it.

Damn. I may just be patient and pay the premium for a complete stock set. It'll probably be cheaper and better in the long run.

here's my surp, r8 it
