Venezuala

Alright armchair generals, if the US does somehow end up getting involved in a war in Venezuela, what would it look like? What kind of methods would they use to get men and equipment on the ground? Where would they land, set up, and push towards? How would they do it? What kind of equipment, vehicles and strategies would be needed in the jungle and mountain environments? What kind of troop movements would be needed to work with the landscapes? Would it be anything like the middle east's village to village province to province zone control arrangement? How would major cities come into this and how would they be approached?

Just general hypothetical conflict stuff

Also, how will the population react and respond to it? Will it be like Vietnam's situation of not knowing which populations are sympathetic to which side?

I suppose it's also possible that bordering countries like Brazil could get involved as well, which would add a whole new dimension to it.

Expect collectivos (small paramilitary groups armed by Maduro) to get involved in guerrilla warfare, although they wouldn't have nearly the experience in guerrilla combat the Vietnamese and Middle Easterners have. Russia, which is backing Maduro, wouldn't have nearly the presence in Venezuela they do in Syria; they simply don't have the power projection to sustain operations in South America. They might send Spetznaz or light airborne troops, but the rumor is Wagner mercenaries are already acting as Maduro's security detail. The US would have an advantage here considering how much closer America is to Venezuela than the Middle East. Colombia would almost certainly work with the US, and Brazil likely would as well. I have no clue what the population would do, polling on support for Gauido and Maduro are all over the place.

Prepare for Iran boys, chances are that we'll wait for Venezuela to collapse and then fix them with foreign aid, so no guns.

yanks could probably just take the whole coast by storm right at the start of it, half of the state capitals are along it

Columbia and Panama are probably the most likely allies for an invasion, I'd say.

Best staging area would probably be Simon Bolivar airport. It's right on the coast. MAGTF could probably take that in a day. That'd probably play out like the Grenada invasion. mix of Marines and Army SF.

Carrier battle group off the coast. Marines amphib east and west of Caracas. Airborne drop south of Caracas. Seal off city, remove commie dictator. Install puppet government. Home by Christmas.

You obviously don't live around Hispanics. South Florida user here, Venezuelans and most Hispanics in general are fucking nuts. If you want an idea of how fucking Hispanics are, look no further than Hialeah. If we were to go into Venezuela, it will be long and drawn out. However the wives dudes would come home with would generally be much better than the Vietnamese in the 70s.

Supposedly 70%+ of the Venezuelan population wants him gone, and the powergap between the US and venezuela is much bigger than it was for Iraq in '91.

Hit his El-presidential House with one MOP and six MOABs.

Don't even invade, just whack his whole upper echelon during a meeting.

Would the Monroe Doctrine justify US action? No fucking way the Russians would actually support Maduro since Venezuela is right on the United States doorstep and they aren't the Soviet Union anymore.

They moving missiles at the border with Brazil and shooting natives is just making things harder for them.
If Maduro keeps his stupid shit up, he will buy a war with Brazil and I doubt Venezuela stands a slight chance against a Brazilian invasion.

In all honesty, if war comes. As long as we play the political game properly, shit would be easy.
>South American Peacekeepers conducting the bulk of law enforcement and COIN
>Most of the people will be on your side anyways so Insurgent activity would be minimal and quickly snuffed out
>Small raid force such as an entire MEB in conjunction with Airborne BCT's would commit the bulk of offensive operations because fuck conducting joint operations with third world South American Q U A N T U M tier militaries
>Sweep through and prop up local civil defense units while helping the political machine move along after Maduros inevitable fall
>MEB's and BCT's replaced with Infantry centric COIN centered peacekeeping forces
>This forces are replaced gradually until new Venezuelan government can manage itself
Mission accomplished

Most of the jungle is far from where people actually live.

US involvement in a Venezuelan conflict would look a lot like their train-&-equip program in Syria, they'll smuggle truckloads full of old munitions from the cold war like TOWs and LAWs (no MANPADS though) and Barretts through Brazil and Colombia into the hands of vetted rebel groups. They'll also build some of these groups up with training camps in Brazil and Colombia, with green beret instructors and whatnot. The objective of this will be simply to bleed Maduro as much as possible in terms of armour and manpower.

Russia and China will veto anything overt at the UNSC, so the US will overtly just declare some 'red lines' - e.g. no chemical weapons, no barrel bombs, etc. and Maduro will have to really make sure his men don't cross that red line unless he wants to be bilaterally no-fly-zone'd by uncle Sam, ala Libya.

the entire leadership will wake up but not be there any more. The U.S. is going to Montauk Experiment them all in one night

We are already involved, Guaido is CIA

All I know is you'll enjoy yet another infinitely long war thanks to the military industrial complex and the US not accepting a democratically elected politician (even if he's the worst thing to happen)

The Jesuit Caribbean War,
Love it can't wait!

Id prefer it, if this time, congress voted on it.

LOL - We took Panama in a month. Leg Infantry, Airborne and the Rangers. NBD.
The 82nd took out Panama's Airborne and SF - the Rangers and leg Infantry worked on the Dignity Battalions and Panamanian Defense Forces.
So, you're blowing smoke out of your ass with your nonsense claims.
Pic related. I took this of my platoon mate at Cimmaron
