MOS help/general

I know this belongs in /MEG/,But I want this to get as much attention as possible as I am in need of help and recommendations.I recently went to the recruiter and took the asvab and picked my job, however I am seriously unsure and dont know much about it,however I still have till 2/27 to change my MOS.My current MOS is 25U (Signal Support Systems Specialist) along with Airborne. Unfortunately I didnt have any Option 40 as I wanted to become part of 75thRR (89GT score) Is there a possible way I can get into 75th without re-enlisting?
Here is the list of MOS available to me:
>11X-Infantry
>14T-PATRIOT launching station enhanced operator/maintainer
>14P-Air and Missle defence
>25B-Information Technology Specialists
>25U-Signal Support Systems Specialist
>12B-Combat engineer
>35P-Cryptologic Linguist
>13F-Joint Fire Support Specialist
>19K-M1 Armor Crewman
Any 25U here? If so,whats everything like?how did you spend your time during AIT,and after?
>I ship out on April
Im down to answer whatever questions you have, thanks
>Did I fuck up guys?

12B is always a good time, especially with Airborne or Air Assault
>also, why not Marines?

Please don’t try to come to batt we have way too many Jow Forums autists making it through RASP somehow in the first place.

Not interested in marines,I dont fuck with their whole arrogant, macho beanbag vibe.

I want to be a batt boy as I want to actually DO something other than desk shit.

Bro, I’m a borderline autist with no social skills and I’m going Marines because everyone in the Army is just there for money. The ones who join the marines are patriotic ones

oh no way? ok nevermind your answer is unique to literally every other retard that gets dropped in RASP, come on in

I am going there for the money as I want to make something of myself when I leave.
I honestly dont understand that whole patriotic shit,so you signed a paper to get yelled at,shitted on worse than any other branch, only to be micromanaged, get a shit job sitting in a station somewhere doing stage 4 autism shit to get payed..... as much as a CVS employee ?

Why are there so many rangers on Jow Forums

There aren’t, they are all just larping

>14T
>hope you like South Korea
Fuck that shit, air defence units are fucking shit shows. Just go 35P or somethin but i'd stay away from ADA with a 50 foot pole

No matter what you pick, you will not make it in time for Venezuela.

Currently in 74D AIT. Don't go CBRN

>35P
35P? that language shit?has to be the most boring fucking job in the army
Dont really expect to do anything in Venezuela, dont really care either, just wanna do anything but POG shit, but at the same time, good shit, not just 11b sweeping and raking fucking grass all day at a station

I dont even qualify for that MOS,but why not?

hahahahahha oh god you're not borderline son, you're full blown.

Lol don't listen to this boot
CBRN can be cush as fuck at the right unit, just don't be a shithead and you'll be left alone, same goes for a lot of jobs actually

>Did I fuck up guys?
Depends if you got what you wanted. Probably not. You probably wanted to be a badass and go high speed. We all do. Before you even think of Option 40, you have to address a few key issues:
(1) You're not doing your due diligence
(2) You're not going high speed, you're rushing

You can formally bail out and piss off your recruiter, but you'll be remembered as a shitbag. Those records aren't going away anytime soon. They all use the same system and the military is pretty good at keeping files on you. Ask him if you can bail out and retest the ASVAB. It'll make him upset but if you can do it, do it. Slow your roll, and STUDY GODDAMMIT. Depending on how many times you fucked up, you're waiting one month or six.

If you can't get out of it, you're taking the ASVAB again anyways, but this time you really don't want to fuck up. I think it's a year between retesting during active duty. An 89 GT score means the rest of your line scores are probably pretty low. Use that time to brush up on your AQFT scores, which are AR, MK, WK, and PC. Rangers do not recruit under 105 GT and are in no mood to waiver two stinking points. Here are some useful test prep sites:

Some tips:
- Write the problems down. Every active participating action related to learning helps.
- Recite said problems. Do not mumble. Mumbling breeds doubt.
- Fix your face. If studying makes you miserable, smile even if you do not feel that way.

Side note - I live in the south. Every summer, young men from high school to the college degreed flood in with dreams to oper8 or make a living as infantry. Recruiters hate it. 70%+ fail to qualify for enlistment on first attempted ASVAB. College boys aren't much better either.

>t. currently enlisting and watching hopes and dreams crash and burn around me

not op but I made a 95 on the asvab and I'm also completely unsure of what I should choose. I also have until Thursday to make up my mind

>thursday
>02-28-2019 @ 0900~1700
Alright, you don't have to. The fact that it's right at the end of the month probably makes it suspect that your recruiter is probably trying to twist numbers in his favor, at your expense.

I'm guessing you're going Army? They're short on bodies after missing quotas by 8,000 for 2018.

Jow Forums partyvan on its way

>89 GT Score
Holy dogshit you are RETARDED

I have also have a college degree and want to be an officer. He said I can drop a packet a year in. Was he lying?

also have*

>11X
Cool but sucks sometimes
>14, 25, 12, 35, 13
GAY
>19K
Cool but sucks sometimes

There is nothing worse than being in a non combat arms unit. The wimps and the lack of discipline makes my skin crawl. All the dumbshit fraternization happens there too and its the norm. Its like going to bizarro world but you're the crazy one for not conforming. Kill me now.
t. Medic

No one is going to let some cherry drop a packet for Green to Gold a year in. Also you'd have to increase your GT Score. Green to Gold wont pick you up with that garbage GT score. Good luck doing all that shit after initial entry training and just getting to your gaining unit. They're going to make you do work first.

I would highly suggest you stand by and make an unrushed decision. Your recruiter is lying to you that you only have until next Thursday to make up your mind.

no I mean my aqft or whatever was a 95
my gt score is like 130

If you do NOT want combat and want a cushy help desk job or forward-deployed fobbit job, pick 25B.
I was a 19K for a decade in both the 3rd ACR and 1AD over several deployments.
Only men that hate life pick that job, and based upon the fact you picked 25U, you lack the psychotic mental state to properly man an M1A2 tank.

>18X Special Forces Selection

Does your Combat score qualify?

Oh shit that's on me I read the 89GT score dude above you and I was stuck on that mode. Anyways,

130 isn't bad in fact I'd say that's pretty good. Your unit will still make you work. A year is about right if you don't suck for throwing a green to gold packet in. Its a pain in the ass but if people like you they'll help you out.

I would choose an MOS you really want and if your recruiter tells you its not available, demand it. When I shipped years ago there was a dude with a 90 something score that demanded 19D Cav Scout and he waited until he got a slot. Got it too.

>89 gt
You should’ve just went 11x

good advice
So the job I picked isnt actually bad,VERY good job opportunities once I get out...its just im not feeling it so much, all this time ive been working myself up to being one thing in the army and thats 75th,just don't have much interests in other careers.
so what should I do?pull out?
I can tell her that my grades arent to my liking and without sounding like a douche,to just bail and retake.however im nervous I might do worse and lose my current MOS jobs just because I took too long.
MEPS start on the 27,should I bail after meps or before?
thanks alot dude.I understand highspeed takes time, all im worried about is if the job i picked would even bring me close to what I really want to do,unless its all about the grades and I can pick any MOS and option 40 or airborne aslong as i have a gt score over 110

The stoopid grunts will always welcome you back with open arms doc wherever you are

>demanded 19D Cav Scout
What a fool.
My recruiter broke it down for me when I asked what the difference was between 19D and 19K.
"Well, 19D drives into combat with a little gun and little armor, the 19K drives into combat with a big-ass gun and lots of armor."
"I'll take the big-ass gun job."

If you're lukewarm on anything, you're probably going to hate it. Be truthful and say that you're in way over your head, fell short of expectations, and need to prepare more than the timeframe currently available. If there is nothing else you want to do but go Ranger, you need to be able to conclusively prove that you can top out any score or challenge you can, and show you're ready to embrace the suck.

Tiptoeing that decision isn't the best course of action. A lot of those guys that make it say that they would rather die than fail. Make that decision while you get ready.

I didnt even study for the test, had no time
rest of the line scores where 90's

???

Hell yeah dude.

lukewarm? like being a moderate pussy? nope,I like being uncomfortable and doing shit that physically sucks.I love hiking, swimming, feeling like shit, stressed out, getting beat, getting dirty, and overall testing myself.Just want to do this right the first time

Attached: trumpwall.jpg (540x546, 50K)

I remember when I was that highly motivated boot sitting in the recruiting office and now I find myself pcsing from one fat boy unit to another and more than likely will stay mech my whole career :^)

I have no doubts you're ready for the physical stuff and pushing your limits, but your post here-
>however im nervous I might do worse and lose my current MOS jobs just because I took too long
-shows some apprehension. You want to do this right, and that's good. Just take some time to work even harder. You're probably very fit, more so than most of Jow Forums, now work on your mind so that you can top out the ASVAB scores. If you believe you're cut out for that stuff, turn your no-fail attitude to your study work and you'll do fantastic.

it was like a 125 but there's no way I'd make it.
part of the reason I want to enlist before going officer is because I'm a scrawny fuck that doesn't even meet the minimum pt requirements

They're 4th batt.

Yea I post here usually for the shits, but sometimes I need help, while asking anyone from Jow Forums for help is a BIG NO NO,but it aint so bad here sometimes.

And youre right,it takes dedication to do the shit you want to do.Ill talk to my recruiter before MEPS on any available jobs,if they suck ill bail out my contract and wait another month on taking the ASVAB again, and while im at it ill study.Tired of where im at and I want to pick up my nutsack and take it places and give it what it craves.thanks dude

Attached: 1540974455219.jpg (400x400, 31K)

whats wrong with 4th batt?

>I'm a scrawny fuck that doesn't even meet the minimum pt requirements
Do anything to change that. Army pushups (head facing forward, not down), situps, runs, lift weights. Push yourself. You will go to BCT like any other enlisted, and it will suck. It sucks slightly less if you're actively preparing.

Don't give up.

seriously,enlighten me

some of us are 2/75 A Co

I didn't realize there were.
I was HHC 3/75, Anti-armor team leader because I was fucking C2 qual'd.

what's the difference between having a ranger tab and being a ranger

ranger tab:a wannabe ranger, nothing special, did some training course.
Ranger scroll:The real deal 75th ranger regiment, the cool guys, the door kickers, the spooks, something everyone wants to be in the army

Ranger school is harder than rasp.

Ranger school was accomplished on my first deployment. The Ranger course was just reliving what I'd already lived.
You're either a Ranger or you're not. A Ranger tab does not make you a Ranger. BTDT.

35G here, know a few 25U's. Solid job. You'll basically be IT. Go shoot your comm everywhere you S6 shitbag.

BUT shoot for 35T if that's what you want to do.

Why wait a year? Why not ocs if you already have a degree? Assuming you mean an actual 4 year degree and not some autistic basket weaving aa

Operation goldrush was a beautiful thing to watch

>Only men that hate life pick that job
Explain please
T. Totally not shipping as 19K on April 2nd

what did the 25U do for the most part?

what was your MOS

Some full blown weebs made it through my RASP 1 class a few months ago, so I'm not shocked to see ya'll here.

Is it a bad idea to become a K9 handler if you’re scared of dogs?

yea not a very good idea, unless youre someone whos whiling to get over fears and suck it the fuck up.

Like I wouldn’t run off screaming from a puppy or something. But they put me on edge.

Im getting a little paranoid Jow Forums. My family has been vehemently against me joining since I was a kiddo, and my mom is basically marie from everybody loves raymond. Super passive aggressive and manipulative, everyone around her just deals with it. My dad is basically too pussy whipped to talk to me man to man and my sister got the passive aggressive gene from my mom. They all talked me out of joining about 4 years ago and no im going to try one last time. They know how badly I want it, so theyve taken turns reminding me little details about my medical history that "could completely bar you from joining anyway so I would start looking for a job...but you do what you want'
IF this is the case, what are the chances I go join a national guard or reserves unit if active duty doesnt accept me? Or will I not be allowed across the board once any medical problems come up?
for reference, my biggest issues are
>wear glasses, though I believe its correctable
>had eczema a few years back, though im almost certain it was from washing dishes at my cuckwage job in hot, dirty water for hours. I havent had any issues since
>nasal surgery to fix a deviated septum. Sometimes I still feel congested though
>instep on my feet

Attached: 1547844659655.png (750x1000, 412K)

are you of legal age? if so, speak with a recruiter of your choice. they can probably waiver all of those if you're a good candidate.
remember, the worst thing they can say is no.

No there's not you gigantic LARPing POG or non rate civilian faggots. 90% of the people that claim to be Rangers on here at flat out lying.

yes I am. Im just thinking worst case scenerio, my dream is to serve and if I cant go active duty Id be willing to go national guard/reserves , but idk what their standards are

go talk to a fucking guard recruiter, autist. iirc the med reqs are basically the same though, I think just the weight shit is a little more relaxed for reserve and NG.

11B or 18X (pick one, they're all cool)
Literally anything else is gay or POG shit. Be a man or else you're busy a civilian in uniform
>t. 11B who became a emt/FF after I ETS'd and served with the Kurdish Peshmerga as a volunteer combat medic. Now I run my own business and am about to get into manufacturing and importing

>Now I run my own business and am about to get into manufacturing and importing
just say you're an arms dealer and be done with it, man

Well I'm not yet lol, I'm working on my class 7 and 8 FFL (looking for a place to set up shop that'll be ATF approved) so I'm not anything yet

cool, get us AKs that don't suck ass please

Working on it, actually. And I have a couple of leads, all I'll say is I've got feelers in central America, the middle east, and just recently Taiwan (not for AKs though)

For what then?

T-65s, 77s,and/or 91s if I can reasonably convert them to semi or legally bring in parts kits

My biggest obstacle is money (sort of) and doing this in a way that I don't violate international law inadvertently because holy shit, you think our ITAR is bad, you should how vague other countries version of ITAR laws are

I know no one will finance my operations, so I literally run a 2 menu item food truck to build capital, on top of what I'm squirreling away from my Army retirement to build capital to pay for shipping/fees/other various overhead (did 7.9 years and got med boarded for a TBI, thanks bin Laden)

Best of luck to you user, we need more people like you.
What do you sell from your food truck?

Brisket and pulled pork tacos

Delicious, I've got a feeling you're in the South somewhere

Taught myself how to cook on a hot plate in the barracks because DIFAC food is bland (not shit like in the movies and pop culture, just boring and repetitive, rather eat MREs) and when I made E-5 and was able to live off post, I built a smoker and smoke anything and everything (I even make my own seasonings, ie smoked onion powder, smoked lime powder, smoked garlic powder)

Central East coast lol, my wife is still in and we're about to PCS

>got my ass reamed by the battalion commander for my recruiting station for about 10 minutes because I decided to drop out of OSUT instead of taking a day 0 recycle for fighting
>managed to make him laugh in the interview
>he said he's recommending me for my RE-3 waiver and not to fuck it up this time

Feels good. Now I just gotta wait for the waiver to come back down the pipe and I can go enlist. Been like a year long process for all of this.

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 28K)

Why'd you drop out instead of biting the bullet and just going to day 0? By now you could've been done with the whole thing and put it behind you

A few reasons, really. I was in week 9 of a 14 week OSUT when it happened, and the entire time I was getting letters from my younger brothers (who were not old enough to support themselves at that point) saying my parents seemed like they were about to get a divorce and they didn't know where they were gonna go or what they were gonna do- so I sperged out and took the chapter thinking I could go home and fix everything. The idea of staying for 14 more weeks or longer was something that my short-sighted self considered a hell upon hells.

>best part is that they actually got their relationship together and they didn't divorce and I had no hand in that whatsoever

I don’t know just how many there are but I know of at least several who browsed Jow Forums, not including myself. Probably a numbers thing, also because of guys enlisting and reading they should go Ranger on here.

What’d be interesting through is so know how many of those guys made it through and actually stuck around in Bat. So far RickyRecon is the only person I know of beyond myself to be a tabbed NCO browising Jow Forums.

Yeah, but you’d have to raise your GT score to 110 to apply, we aren’t doing waivers at the moment. There’s classes you can take to raise it once you’re in and you can drop a packet to come to battalion at any time. Also there’s recruiting at 25 land AIT to go Ranger, but I don’t know if you can raise your GT score while you’re in AIT.

Rangers have always liked anime, going back to when I went through in 2011. Wouldn’t say they were full blown weebs though. What MOS were they?

Oh shit, I think I remember you posting about that when it happened in /meg/ a while ago.

It'll work out user, we're all gonna make it
T. Guy who asked hope to shrink himself to make height regs and made it

Based on what the BC told me today, it's safe to assume I'm enlisting soon. My only worry is if they don't have 11X as an option when I go to MEPS, because they can't reserve slots for RE-3 waivers at this point.

You should be fine, 11X is almost always open from what I can tell. When I was checking out jobs with my recruiter and both times I went to MEPS to sign contracts, 11X always had 20-something seats with a close ship date.

35P and 35N is great if you’re airborne along with being in group. But yeah it’s pretty boring, don’t need more 35Ps because of the points. Go be a rock eating ADA guy.

>The black pill is that you get better combat training in team video games. The military consists entirely of glorified mall cops. They do 'exercises' to check the required boxes without regard for, or understanding as IQ and experience drops, of their intent. If they ever confront an opponent that cares about winning more than keeping the gibs flowing, they're going to die like dogs.
>These are people claiming to be professional athletes without even the most basic understanding their game, let alone exercising and practicing for it. All they do is pretend to look the part, to themselves and all the idiots that buy it. God, it's so fucking stupid. They all believe it, too. Everyone believes it's not just a front. It's horrible. All I think about is escaping this shithole before the meat grinder starts churning on these niggers.
Why is /v/ so pathetic?

4th batt doesn't exists

Dumb question, but outside of basic and OSUT, do 19Ks have to ruck?
How often do they do FTXs?

That's nice to know, honestly. I've never been able to get a solid answer on if infantry was hard to get nowadays or not. Back when I first enlisted into it, they were handing it out like candy.

Yeah 11X with opt.40 is pretty popular, lots of people really like the idea of being high-speed ranger types and shit.

For reference I went to MEPS December 6th and February 11th, so you should be good if you're trying to leave before summer.

BE WARNED, everything combat related that ships last week of May/early June is practically all gone because of the graduating high schoolers.

That Pajeet ranger who killer a hooker in Washington was a Jow Forumsommando.
