Hello Jow Forumsomrades, this summer Ill be looking at purchasing my first rifle. Ive been shooting for some time now with my dads weapons (M&P15, AKMS) amongst other weapons, but the Sig Saur MPX caught my eye. Are there other SBRs I should check out first? I want to do as much research as possible first.
Potential Purchase

get a MP5 snowflake.
Just get an AR, you can get a decent one for the price of an MPX. They're not bad but they're not amazing either.
Buffer tubes don't belong on a SMG.
>get an overpriced, stamped piece of meme shit that's over 50 years old
nah
OP here. What are some reasons to get an MP5 over the Sig?
none
I was thinking about just going an AR route but I like the size and compactness of the MPX. I live in GA so im laws should be lax around reducing barrel size and all that correct?
>Whats the point of getting a mpx with no possibility of full auto?
rifle? rifles use the pointy cartridges. try again. also sigs are shit.
have you ever fired a full auto gun? no?
pls go
>he's never fired a full auto gun
lmao, sucks to be you.
It's a shame you've never fired a full auto gun, or any gun at all. I'd recommend it to you, but you couldn't afford it.
You don't have to afford guns while in the military ;^)
>and he's on welfare too
oh, buddy.
Binary trigger or movie quiet subs. Oh I see you're in the military. Makes sense that you're a dipshit.
Thanks for the NEETbux while I play with toys you can't even touch.
>while I play with toys you can't even touch
Shit you're right, I don't even own any crayons :(
mmmmmmm..cognitive dissonance
>neet
>paying taxes
Holy shit they literally let anyone in now.
>playing with toys youll never touch
Lmao more like watching 16hrs of dont rape your coworkers and being a faggot is ok so don't harass queers "training." No one is impressed by the 500 rounds you shoot on exercise per year assuming your NCO isn't a shitbag and bothers beyond having you magdump ammo on a square range to avoid actual training.
That's why your bullshit is so obvious kid.
see
Don’t be a faggot and also anything under 16” needs a stamp
it doesn't have a buffer tube...
Look senpai you're overpaying like a motherfucker buying an MPX. Just get an AR-15 and get a SBR tax stamp for it, or just have a pistol and rifle lower.
Fuck it sure. They are really nice guns with good ergonomics and pretty reliable from what it seems.
What made you want an MPX over an normal AR?
it's fucking dope
hk slap
it won't burn your eyes out if you shoot it suppressed like the sig will
The MPX is a $1500 short-stroke piston-driven blowback AR-style pistol manufactured with billet aluminum and high-carbon steel parts, except for the magazine and grips which are hard plastic. The barrel and muzzle shroud can be removed and replaced in under a minute and swapped with a wide variety of other lengths and calibers (not possible on the MP5). It also has a picatinny rail on top and on back for attaching various stocks and braces (not common on the MP5), including retractable/telescoping stocks.
The quality is absolutely phenomenal compared to the stamped sheet-metal that's used in most MP5s. The only MP5s that come close to the same degree of quality are american-made $3500 jobs. You're not paying for a gun at that point, you're paying for the tacti-cool factor of owning an MP5. The pakistani and turkish $1500 MP5s are utter garbage built on 50 year old machines.
It's fairly heavy at over 6 lbs, which reduces felt-recoil to the point where the gun feels like firing a .22LR even with 9mm +P and +P+ rounds, but it's only 1 pound heavier than the MP5. If you don't have a strap, your arms will be sore by the end of a decent range trip, so get a strap.
The magazines are a bit expensive, but they're worth every penny once you realize how to load them correctly. Loaded over 1000 rounds by hand last trip and my thumbs weren't remotely sore.
The one major drawback is that it doesn't come with any kind of sights and the flip-up iron sights from SIG are ridiculously overpriced. Get a cheap red-dot of some kind instead.
Another minor drawback is the keymod rails that come stock. Keymod is difficult to find accessories for. Just buy a couple of keymod picatinny rails and slap them on the rails and save yourself the hassle of getting keymod accessories.
One final note: Cleaning it is a pain in the ass, but less so than the MP5. If you shoot it suppressed, you'll need to clean your face after a day at the range. Wear glasses.
The rape power point thing is pretty accurate lol.
The ergonomics and size of it. I was able to test fire one at my range and mess around with it for a bit and it made me want to look more into it
This was very helpful. Is the price justifying of the weapon? Local range has one on "sale" for 1699.99.
>buying a $1700 pistol caliber SBR as your first gun

Like, the MPX is cool and all, but what it does any better than a $500 AR9 pistol is beyond me. I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but you legitimately sound like a 17 year old who just finished a sweaty round of Call of Duty
Have you considered a Glock 17+CAA MCK? Even smaller, good rail space, every bit as reliable, more versatile (effectively 2 guns in one) abundant magazine availability, and less than half the price.
And yes it folds up.
and you sound like someone who owns a $500 AR9
Where do you see a buffer tube retard
These are beyond retarded.
1. Because it's cool
2. Because it's rad
3. ???
Not an argument
i dont have to argue fact with your gay ass
I have a Sig MPX. You can get the same functionality out of an AR9. For the price of a Sig MPX and 4 extra lancer mags...you could get an PSA AR15 and PSA AR9.
>Are there other SBRs I should check out first?
Go the brace route, it's better in literally every way, you don't have to sign your life over to the feds, and you can travel wherever the fuck you want with it
Other considerations:
B&T GHM-9
Scorpion EVO, tailhook edition
i.imgur.com
Lots of PCC options
10mm Vector w/ brace
>grass hopper mouse 9
This
Swiss craftsmanship
$500 less than any mp5 clone
Im going to pick one up pretty soon
> The barrel and muzzle shroud can be removed and replaced in under a minute and swapped with a wide variety of other lengths and calibers (not possible on the MP5).
Caliber and barrel swapping are a meme. The barrel assembly's cost 500+ dollars each, and different caliber kits arent even available
> It also has a picatinny rail on top and on back for attaching various stocks and braces (not common on the MP5), including retractable/telescoping stocks.
Mp5 Aftermarket braces are literally everywhere retard, same with optic mounting options. The gun has been around 40 years
>The quality is absolutely phenomenal compared to the stamped sheet-metal that's used in most MP5s.
Whats better indian cast Aluminum or stamped steel from a country with a Strong history of Firearms development and industrial manufacturing?
>The pakistani and turkish $1500 MP5s are utter garbage built on 50 year old machines.
Uh, you know quality control is a thing in manufacturing? And machines can be re-built?
>It's fairly heavy at over 6 lbs, which reduces felt-recoil to the point where the gun feels like firing a .22LR even with 9mm +P and +P+ rounds, but it's only 1 pound heavier than the MP5. If you don't have a strap, your arms will be sore by the end of a decent range trip, so get a strap.
>>>Made from Aluminum, yet still heavier than stamped steel shiggy diggy
>The magazines are a bit expensive, but they're worth every penny once you realize how to load them correctly. Loaded over 1000 rounds by hand last trip and my thumbs weren't remotely sore.
Each magazine is $60 retail, Thats six AR or AK mags, or 2 mp5 mags
>One final note: Cleaning it is a pain in the ass, but less so than the MP5. If you shoot it suppressed, you'll need to clean your face after a day at the range. Wear glasses.
Funny, my “shitty” zenith mp5 doesnt give me gasface, when shooting with a SiCo octane 9 or 9k
>grass hopper mouse 9
>scorpion killer
I appreciated the name a lot more when I saw they actually have it etched into the interior of the gun
I actually still really like the EVO, but I'm getting more and more sold on the GHM every day
>Caliber and barrel swapping are a meme
I was really stoked about caliber conversions years ago when they started becoming more popular, my thought was "awesome, can't wait until these come down in price."
When I saw them on FutureWeapons, I was like "cool, it's finally happening"
>itneverhappened.jpg
TL;DR caliber conversions are indeed a meme. An overpriced meme
But user, how are you supposed to put your forearm through that with the rest of that stuff in the way?
lol, it was shockingly hard to find a pic of a tailhook brace actually "deployed"
It opens up and you like rest your arm against it... but since literally no one does that, there aren't a ton of pics
If it's your first gun, no. A good concealable handgun is a much better first weapon. If it's your first PCC, PDW, or SMG, then yes. However, the CZ Scorpion Evo 3 is a less expensive alternative that works just as well.
It works okayish as a forearm brace. better than the shockwave for sure, but not as good as i imagine a tightly secured sb tactical rubber unit would. Looks really nice when combined with the factory cheek rest of the scorpion, though, which i think is the major selling point.
