What is the best caliber/gun suppressed setup?
Best suppressed

Isnt it .45 acp since its a fat slow round?
.45 is supposed to be the best, and pretty much the only reason SOCOM still uses it.
It would sadden me greatly to hear the mk23 is no longer used.
Best for noise: .22LR with locking action
Best for plinking: .22LR
Best for defensive use: 9mm 147gr
Best gun: There isn't one [or] The one you have
No because the larger diameter lets gas escape more quickly after the bullet leaves the suppressor. Anyone saying .45 is better suppressed hasn't heard one.
Dedicated subsonic 9's have better db reductions than factory .45's
No, not in terms of noise. If you're trying to be quiet then you limit the velocity of your round to subsonic anyways, so the naturally subsonic nature of common .45 loadings isn't a factor as you'll just use subsonic *insert caliber here* loadings anyways. 180gr .40 S&W, and 147gr 9mm for instance are both typically subsonic. When comparing subsonic rounds to subsonic rounds the next major factor in noise levels is going to be bore diameter, so the 9mm is actually going to be the quietest of the big three. Hell, its the same without a can too, typically 230gr .45 is noticeably louder than 147gr 9mm IME. SpecOps use it in some roles simply because they want to make the most of the bad situation of having to try to take a guy out with a FMJ handgun round in the first place, so they go with .45 as its the biggest, heaviest, and most energetic of the three choices. Capacity isn't really much of a concern because the guy with the handgun is going to literally have 1 or 2 dudes with rifles looking over his shoulders in case everything doesn't go exactly according to plan. Personally i suspect that institutional momentum has a lot to do with it still being a thing as well, its worked alright in the past since .45 was a standard issue round so why change things if your number one concern(capacity) for not using .45 doesn't matter for your specific situation?
When spec ops guys are reeeealy trying to be quiet, well, ever wonder why you see so many pictures of them with suppressed MP7s? Literally quieter than a .22 with SS ammo, with a lot of bullets, a high ROF, and very controllable.
I always thought suppressed mp7’s would still be kind of loud like fivesevens. What’s this I hear about wet 45 suppressed being much less sound?
whats the application? My unit had two suppressed 22 revolvers, they were so quite you just heard the hammer fall and hit. Nothing more. For wet work. You do have to be close, barrel touching is best and in one of a very few spots to neutralize the target properly. This sounds like Jow Forumsommando bullshit, but these thing are real. The world isn't just a thread on a board, kids.
Any suppressor wet is much less loud. A 9mm shot wet will still be quieter than a .45 shot wet.
This guy means friggin business and is a treasured resource, listen to him
lmfao
based and spec-ops-pilled
It would be with normal ammo as its supersonic, meaning it will have a sonic boom, but with subsonic(SS) ammo it is extremely quiet. Much more so than .45, .40, .9mm, and likely even slightly more than .22lr.
AAC Ti-RANT .45M and USP 45 Tactical or MK23. The Ti-RANT is arguably THE best .45 suppressor available, the length and piston is modular, can be fully disassembled for cleaning, and can be used for a variety of other smaller calibers.
147 grain 9mm because subsonic is subsonic
This. MP7s are the king right now and have replaced and augmented the MP5SD for suppressed dogo removal.
Very quiet with super and with subs the one I shot was quieter than the rounds hitting cardboard.
5.7 is actually quiet af too with subs. Look at silencershops testing for db ratings. Within 2ish db of 22lr and quieter than 9mm. The 5.7 has a loud rep due to supers.
Do americans not have sub-sonic rounds in 7.62 like the russians?
I mean we have subsonic 300blk, which is roughly the same bullet diameter as 7.62. I think supersonic 300blk is nearly equal ballistic performance to 7.62x39, but it costs like 50cpr
this is accurate
oh wow tell us more!
What’s the best 9mm suppressor host?
MP5
MP5 followed by CMMG Guard followed by MP5k followed by CZ Evo followed by everything else. I'd put the Sig high up because it's not direct blowback and the receiver minimizes blowback but supposedly the gas system doesn't like the extra back pressure from suppressors or something else was problematic I don't remember.
AR9 is just about the worst.
What about B&T offerings?
A supressed high power would be sexy as hell
.300 blackout ar-15 pistol is good if you can deal with expensive ammo
They're all direct blowback afaik so equal to or lesser than the CZ Evo. They're really great guns but the question was about suppressed specifically.
Keeping the action sealed and keeping the barrel locked are desirable to minimize gas blowback, if it's just direct blowback then it's not better than anything else. The Evo is an exception because the receiver is well sealed so you don't get as much gas blowback in your face as with other guns. I think the Sig MPX also has an opening at the rear of the receiver where the recoil springs go, which can let gas blast up your nose.
(You)
Oh shid wait the TMP/MP9 has a rotating barrel so isn't direct blowback, but you need an adapter to put any other brand suppressor on it, but I don't think the adapters are made anymore.
When you have the money to drop on a TP9,
you may as well spend the extra $1000 to get the suppressor specifically made for it.
Huh I was totally under the impression fuddy five was the way to go for suppressor use when I bought my 1911 (no you spergs it wasn’t the only reason) as my first pistol. Live n learn I spose
That’s pretty cool user, thanks for sharing. Re: suppressed revolvers, does that mean that the space between the barrel and the cylinder is air tight or does that not factor in to how a suppressor works? Not too familiar with wheelie guns
It means he's lying over the internet idiot.
As far as handguns, I’ve read that the p226 is the best 9mm suppressor host, dunno how true that is.
It is no longer used, and it was never used very much to begin with. Operators complained about the size and weight. They use the mk 25 mod 0 now, aka the USP-C tactical
>suppressed revolver
fake
>touching another man
gay
No he's not
youtu.be
so he’s either ruski or lyin, gotcha
>what's the best thing
GO TRY SHIT FOR YOURSELF
Maybe one that is shorter with similar performance and also will not unscrew itself as you use it.
Maybe one with a lower bore axis than 90% of other options?
how does that work?
The Nagant's cylinder presses against the back of the barrel when you pull the trigger.
the gen 2 sigs dont have as bad as issues with the gas system and cans apparently, but I havent handled one yet in that context
That's not a .22 and that's not that quiet. You're just as big an idiot if you think a camera microphone can pick up a gun shot and your $12 apple ear pods can play a gun shot accurately.
USP .45 suppressed?
This and also the trail of lube running down your pants will make it look like you pissed yourself and you will blend in with those around you after the fact.
integral is awesome in my opinion.
deprecates all the removable cans based on size alone.
Is the maxim 9 much louder if you shorten the suppressor part?
So wait would a 5.7mm actually run alright suppressed?
Ofcourse it would run but it would be loud and that person is dumb. Supersonic means loud no matter what
