I'm not super strong at the moment, in part due to a rotator cuff injury, however I'm only like 12ish% bodyfat and have decent cardiovascular capacity. My lifts are pretty bad though.

If you're working out and becoming a beef titan, while maintaining a sub 14 minute 2 mile, the higher your bf the better. Bare minimum lifting is your weight x1.25 bench, x1.50 squat, x2.25 deadlift for 20 reps straight/10x4 routine. The issue is maintaining that [minimum] level of fitness and balancing body fat.
Low bf is vanity, which I'm honestly guilty of, but I also don't expect shtf to occur.

i need to be in shape first. i coudl never survive 5 minutes of buds training because i never do cardio. the navy training manual for buds prep only has you doing running, swimming, pushups, situps, and pullups. is that all the exercises that build that type of body?

My mile is abysmal but I can manage to do 10 minute miles for 3 or 4 miles.
Other than that, bench 235, squat 405, deadlift 315.

Im 175 at 30 yrs old and can only bench my own weight and squat (squat rack squat) not much more than my own weight 5 times. I can avg an 8 min mile but for your size youre doing pretty well i would say

it's way easier to go on a 500 caloria a day defect than it is to eat the right amount of carbs, protein and fat while also lifting heavy and frequently to build muscle. I have a reconstructed ankle and a foot that has had 2 surgeries, on top of severe rheumatoid arthritis. My physical endurance matters little. That is the precise reason why I have funz and the ability to use the. I am not running anywhere even if I wanted to. I limp for 1-2 days after mowing my lawn. Being some ripped triathlete ain't in the cards for me.

It's easier to put on a shitload of fat in a hurry if SHF is coming than it is to get fit.

Because it wasn't a total SHTF. It was a limited regional SHTF with a period of evacuation. In a larger scale SHTF everything comes down to triage if triage is even available. But there are more then 7B humans and most of them are in cities. There aren't just stockpiles of food laying around. Everything is reliant on the constant supply chain and an endless series of trucks. Stores would be wiped out within 12 hours. And that's if it was spontaneous. Advanced warning means the stores would already be stripped bare. The food supply would be ticking down from that point.

This is true. I lost 60 lbs and double my strength when I was 21 or so. And I ate out every day and binge drank every weekend. But because I worked out like a psycho, it didn't matter.

I've lost weight on dieting alone with very minimal physical activity. It ultimately comes down to calorie intake vs calorie output. Of course exercise comes with its fair share of added bonuses such as increased resting BMR, feeling better, losing weight faster, etc.
