So I got this FAL a few months ago for a really good price (1,000 dollars) but am at a dilemma: do I make it into a traditional FAL or get a VLTOR and BRS stock?
The thing is that although I love the way traditional FALs look, I want the rifle to be as functional as possible (gonna throw a light on and probably swap that AFG out for a vertical). What’s your guys take? Should I go further into the tactical stuff or put traditional parts on?
I could always save up and get another FAL but I mean it’s being stored at my families house while I live in a college dorm and I don’t know how they’d feel about that.
So traditional? I mean I think the modernized ones look quite nice too, and they seem more effective in general.
Brody Powell
Your rifle looks like it has aids.
Charles Rogers
Again so is that a ‘you should go traditional’?
Wyatt Anderson
>I think the modernized ones look quite nice too then sell it to someone who isn't a mongoloid
Jaxson Rivera
You know, that kinda looks like a hi point.
Justin Smith
I mean this is literally the configuration I got it in minus the sight and the AFG. That’s why I said I’m not sure whether I should change it to traditional or change he the rail and stock.
Dominic Bailey
What I’m thinking about doing is making it into one of the South African contracted Modern FALs. I bought it in its current state and am not sure if I should do this or make it into a older FAL style
You would end up investing way to much trying to turn it into an inferior ar10 clone. Just go with classic traditional furniture. But you probably will make that abomination anyway so idk why you’re even asking
Joshua Edwards
I mean it’d only take swapping the stock to make that. But I like the way traditional FALs look more. I did just find out that my FAL has the short gas block so if I did put traditional furniture it wouldn’t look quite right.
You will be the biggest faggit if you dont put it back in its original form
Tyler Hughes
Do this except maybe the tube style folding stock. It's already nearly there. Ignore angry tards in this thread saying "go back to original" as you are already pretty much original as I'm guessing this started as a "tacticool" FAL from the box. If you want a classic FAL I would just buy another FAL as the barrel a gas block look like they would need to change.
Eli Thomas
FALS don't look bad in black but the "modern" look youre going for is shit. Make it traditional and if want a black fal, get one down the line. If youre looking for something to tactify just get an AR 10, you'll get more out of it.
Carter Cox
I can’t put it back to that I just realized after looking at it again. It has DSA’s short gas block that requires me to use this or use a shorter traditional handguard which would look even dumber now that I see it.
Yea it did, and the tubular stock is for PARA FALs. Para FAL rifles have a different gas system and I’d have to change the entire rifle for it.
Read above
Jacob Perez
Read post above. I found out I cannot make this into a traditional rifle due to the gas system being DSA’s short gas system that they made for the 16.5 inch barrel config. Keep in mind I didn’t do this to the gun I got it like this.
Kayden Kelly
Also for the AR question:
This rifle is staying with my family while I’m at college, and my next apartment has a no guns thing in the lease so if I bring it there they’ll prolly evict me. My family may not be comfortable with another gun being in the house, let alone an AR because of how political they are. I had to convince them about the historical stuff of the FAL to get them to budge on letting me store this there instead of getting a storage unit.
Cooper Morris
classic is the way to go OP
Luke King
Yes but if I put on a traditional handguard it would be one of those stubby handguards because the gas block is DSA’s short gas block. It would look like this
Looks better than or what you have now, kinda what I meant by they don't look bad in black. Probably the look I'd go for if an older style isn't possible. It's more the tactical accessories that dont look quite right, least in my opinion. Also how the hell did you convince people scared of black rifles to keep your black rifle with the historical argument?
Charles Thompson
I told them about the right arm Of the free world thing
Anthony Jones
Anyway, yes I’ll probably go with this and maybe someday own another FAL, or just get an AR when I have an apartment/house that won’t evict me for it and make that into a fighting rifle.
Josiah Baker
Just purchased the handguard, going to get the pistol grip and dust cover next paycheck and the stock last. I’m living on student jobs here so it may take a bit.
Brayden Ortiz
>Angled foregrip AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAGAHGAGAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAAHAH >RAILS ON A FAL AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHAHAHAHAH
YOU ABSOLUTE FUCKING ZOOMER THATS A FUCKING RETARDED FAL
Jaxon Campbell
Any FAL that isn't in original configuration adopted by regular armies are hideous. I'm looking at anything with tactical faggotry or rails onboard. You should probably go back to Wal Mart AR15s instead. >"""FAL""" owners that do this >DS Arms Voyager model owners
Aaron Lopez
Well I mean it came with the rails on it. It’s in the exact configuration I bought it in. South Africa and a ton of nations have adopted railed FALs. This rifle started its life (I presume, as I got it used) as a DSA tactical carbine and the guy put the X stock on.
Kevin Long
Does Walmart even still sell AR rifles? I’m almost positive they stopped after Parkland happened as one of those ‘look at us we’re woke’ things
Carson Miller
It's been a lot longer than that. Walmart did a drawdown over a two year period after Sandy Hoax. They didn't take them off the shelves, they just stopped ordering more and allowed their inventory to be exhausted. There was even a point, it might have been 2015 or 2016, where Walmart got sick of having a couple left sitting around and did a crazy firesale where they dumped the remaining AR15s for 50%-80% off MSRP. Saw a few people get complete Colt LE6920's for less than $500.
You're thinking of when they raised the age to buy ammo to 21, that was after the Broward County Shuffle.
Parker Nguyen
Oh alright. Well anyway I’m probably going to take the front rail off and keep the railed dust cover for optics, I think I can get rail segments on a traditional FAL handguard that go in through the holes on the side anyway since a light is my main concern
Xavier Edwards
Yes traditional you mong, get that goddamn wooden stock
Chase Parker
Id change the grip and stock and call it good. A goo deal ceases to be a good deal if you have to dump a ton of money into it.
Tyler Carter
Can’t do wood because that won’t fit on the 8.5 inch gas block. I’d have to rebarrel the gun. I’ve said this like 5 times now
Dylan Bennett
I mean I did just order the shorter plastic handguard and I’ll see if I like it more. I’m definitely replacing the pistol grip though
