Post an uglier BR

The fuck happened to the other general? We had like 20 posts already.

idk but there were four threads up earlier. It's getting crazy with people making threads right and left.

Clueless about battle rifles, but it's time for something in 308 or 7.62x51. Is there a JUST AS GOOD option for someone just getting into them?

We had the last thread which was at the post limit. There was the trap one which somebody made for no apparent reason other than attention whoring. The last thread died, so someone made a new one. But someone else was too dumb to check and made yet another thread using the same image in the OP here.

Just recently acquired a SR-762, was wondering what kind of brakes/muzzle device you guys recommend and what's all the rage in BR optics nowadays, I was thinking a vortex 1-6 strike eagle for now until I found a more permanent solution. I also have a lantac dragon on my AK, and I really don't like how it fireballs and concusses, I'd actually prefer something more akin to a flash hider that may or may not reduce felt recoil/muzzle rise.

Yeah some of those chassis look cool, others not so great. But IMO nothing beats that beautiful walnut stock.

The Surefire MB is an assault weapon for anyone standing near the rifle. Not bad if you're shooting it though.
Strikes are heavy, well w a Bobro mount mine is. They're serviceable and cheap.

We need a general for each minority and sexuality now. It's called inclusiveness.

NO TRAPS!

Should I put a scope on my PTR 91 GIR and if so which one?

How well do you shoot w irons

How much do they go for? They're 4x?

The DSA FAL is the justasgoodas option. Watch people come to the defense of the shitty below par cast reciever when it's mentioned as a negative.

DSA is the brst choice for a FAL if you don't want to shop around for a good parts kit build.

PTR is the best choice if you want a G3 clone, and it's a bit cheaper than DSA's FALs.

AR-10s are the way to go if you want something that is actually remotely practical.

I kind of want to buy a Fal, can anyone tell if this is an L1A1 as claimed or is this a metric one? I live in finland so finding mags or spare parts for an inch gun would be really difficult. I tried looking up some guides and it looks like it's half metric and half inch from what I can tell.

here's the other side

Attached: FN_FAL__L1A_308WIN_K_YT.__029026__002.jpg (250x250, 11K)

I ordered a PTR with green furniture for the classic look, then at the last moment changed my mind and got the version with the rail on top. Am I way over thinking it if I think the railed version should only have black furniture and I fucked up?

fhsfshfs less tiny pictures here

apologies, I'm a retard

Hensoldts are the aesthetic and impractical choice. They're old so typical caveats apply but they're tough as nails and stupid expensive ($600+) for what you get.

Not familiar enough with FALs to be 100% sure, but it looks Metric. It's got the Belgian muzzle brake, the thicker metric handguard, and the stock lacks the "lip" on the underside where it connects to the receiver that Inch FALs have.

Y/N?

Rails kill BR aesthetics but they're nice to have.
Guess we need a metric VS inch ID guide

Bare min for AR and bare min for BR are 2 different things. I wouldn't buy one.
>railed gas block
>non freefloat
>A2 grip
>that stock
>FH
Only thing that's good is the mag

I used the guide linked here to determine that it's pretty metric: dsarms.com/t-faq.aspx

On the other hand, some metric Fals seem to be pretty identical to what they're selling there. Such as the one held by this happy indian dude. Could be just that Wikipedia mislabeled this image of course.

Attached: Guard_with_a_Smile_(14844468105).jpg (1280x855, 301K)

What is FH? What would you recommend as a DPMS pattern AR10 in the $1000-2000 range?

Just buy matching surplus furniture from HK parts the grips are like $5 and the handguards are like $25

where would be a good place to go about getting a trilux with the actual FAL mount? i ordered one of the DSA jew mallets and figured i might as well get the matching neat looking though dated optic for it

Flash hider instead of a brake.
Just build one if you're dropping 2gs. They're piss easy.
M5 reciever set w parts kits 400, handguard 200, MBT2 trigger 90, buffer kit and melonited gas tube under 100, stock 150, K2 grip 35, used KAC rear and magpul pro front irons 125, nitrided Bcg 200, Harris bipod w mount for 50. Match barrel for 400. Adjustable gas block 90. If you're never getting a can just get a cheap muzzle brake/compensator otherwise pick and can then match its MB for 50-200 depending
Even w a few tools and shipping that's 2k. Then just need to save up for a PA 1-8X24 platinum w ACSS and decide if you want a QD mount.
I also like ambi safety (weak side selector on backwards for interference) and BAD levers.

Pretty good. I’m accustomed to my AKs with iron sights. When I ordered the railed PTR I was thinking “it’s .308 so I can reach out further”. Not so sure now. The rear G3 sight is a little blurry to me.

It's supposed to be blurry. Learn to shoot correctly.

How hard is it to build that shit? I am a handgun and trap shooting only fag

Looks like those are for the claw mount. With the railed version, I guess an AR10 scope + mount might be the way to go.

That's a good looking FAL! Is that a 30 round magazine? If so, are they reliable?

How well do those G3 claw mounts hold zero?

I see you all the time, I swear.

Attached: Chelsea_1.jpg (3159x3024, 2.61M)

>It's supposed to be blurry.
Care to explain?

>How well do those G3 claw mounts hold zero?

No idea, I don't have a G3 pattern gun or a claw mount for that matter. I considered the Hensoldt to put on my FAL but felt I could do a lot better for $650.

If you already have the rail there's zero reason to go vintage. Buy the best optic and mounts you can afford. The new US optics 1-6x are pretty excellent from what I've read.

You need a vice and a Bev block (prob a 308 version), a Fat Wrench, a castle nut tool, a torque wrench, loctite, 2 wrenches to put on the muzzle device, a set of brass punches, a small bubble level, and like 2 hours.

Thanks fren, its a DSA 30rd and I've yet to use it since I've got it. I've heard they're shit but I wanted one anyway. $15 mag dump tests get expensive. Still full on winter for another month so haven't had a chance to get a handload worked up yet. Been so windy it hasn't been worth it.

I've only got a handful of pics of my FAL and I like shitposting with pics of it. The DSA 30 rounders are fine in my experience. No more finnicky than any surplus 20 rounders.

Attached: FAL with 30 rounder.jpg (720x960, 49K)

I put an A2 rifle stock on my AR10 because I like the way they look, but honestly the collapsible stock seemed better in almost every practical way, including comfort. Switching back feels like admitting I wasted money.

I'll never use this rifle for anything but range shooting and maybe take it deer hunting or something. What do?

Attached: IMG_1401.jpg (960x540, 183K)

One of these days I'll get a 417. But there's so many other guns I want before that.

Attached: dSZ5Ta6p.jpg (4032x3024, 3.65M)

what stock is that?

Looks like a Magpul UBR GEN2

Sunk cost fallacy.
ACSL has the best sling attachment system for 2pt. It's a on the heavy side and not as skookum as an A2 but I like mine. Trapdoor is nice for light batteries. Seems excessivly expensive

Kel-Tec RFB as awful as people on YouTube make it sound?

I need a FAL to complete my 308 family

Attached: 52829695_301554287186283_616970523062042624_n.jpg (4032x3024, 2.25M)

You focus on the front sight or some people target focus, regardless the rear sight of any gun will be peripheral and therefore blurry/unfocused to the eye. Retard.

Anyone own one of these and is it worth the imaged price? I'm thinking about adding a Semi-Auto 308 to my collection.

Attached: AR-10.png (1184x258, 63K)

Idk, I just paid 680 for mine, so you found a better deal than me lol

Don't tell me, your on Speed again, aren't you?

High Tec sling

Get one they're great
Just look at the front sight post. Paint the tip white to help.
Nothing about that looks good.
Again?? A shill thread deleted and other one died at 20 posts so just reposted.

Attached: 15565712180_9d6f90ac10_k.jpg (2048x1128, 566K)

that things a bastard child

yes
people who actually shoot like the 5R barrel

eh, you could price your own build out for similar cost these days. dpms upper receiver is pigfat heavy

The hand guard, grip, stock, and flash hider are all dirt cheap basic bitch components because you're EXPECTED to change them out. So instead of putting expensive accessories you'll replace anyway on it and driving the price up, they use minimum viable to keep the base cost low.

I know so just buy all of it in pieces like ARs are meant to be purchased. I can understand buying a complete (minus trigger) or even one that had a stock I was going to buy anyway (and thus buy one less tool) but that thing? No.

Anyone have info on what type of receiver accepts the DSA stripper clip cover? Most of the info says metric receivers but DSA's website says that the receiver has to be "cut" somehow to accept the cover?

Also does anyone have experience with clip-loaded FAL's? I have a NY-legal project that I'd like to work on, fixed 10 round mag allows me to keep the pistol grip and flash hider.

Attached: 13250.jpg (350x350, 6K)

I'd be interested in this as well. Only because clips are just meme enough for me.
Would those allow for more dirt ingress?

is a JRA M14 worth it at 1500 or should I keep looking for a Polytech for sub-1000

Attached: 1550672607037.gif (158x280, 1.28M)

Going to assume "yes", seeing as the Belgians experimented with it once then no other FAL variant had them. If it wasn't for NY's terrible SAFE Act, I wouldn't have to create this monstrosity.

JRAs are pretty good by pretty much all accounts. Do it.

Will a Metric FAL dust cover work on an Inch gun? There’s a G1 scope in my area that would look good on my L1.

That's it? Hmm yeah maybe too meme then thanks.

Morning boyos

Attached: 1544409725553.jpg (895x594, 349K)

thanks nigga

Correct. It's the Magpul UBR Gen 2. It's expensive but worth it. I would only recommend installing it on DMR builds and AR-10s.

Attached: Chelsea_2.jpg (3314x3024, 3.43M)

I don't know the specific type, but the receiver needs cuts near the back for those tabs you see on the back of the cover to slide into. Without those tabs, the dust cover could just slide back and forth.

How's the lockup on the UBR? Is it actually skookum like the LMT SOPMOD?

I don't know shit about FALs, but I think all the top covers I've seen for sale are labeled either inch or metric, so I'm gonna guess no. Try sending a product question about that to DSA pretending you're gonna buy one from them to verify.

I'm too lazy to build my own AR...

It takes 2h

Was there ever a ruling on if boltybois can be BRs? When did removable mags become used for loading the gun instead of a receptacle to be charged via stripper clips?

>When did removable mags become used for loading the gun instead of a receptacle to be charged via stripper clips?
STG/MP40 nah?

we should just go Service Rifles Only, 30 cal of course

AR-10, plain and simple. Runs well. Has familiar operations and requires only a few tools for disassembly. Slap a nice piece of glass on top and your set.

I like my Primary Arms Raptor FFP 1-6 as a cheap beater. As for muzzle I really like the strike industries j comp v2.

I gotchu senpai

Attached: 20190206_213852.jpg (3732x1131, 2.18M)

holy fucking eye relief

The boltybois seem to be another designation like milsurp or antique.

Sometimes you see a Garand sneak by without anyone saying it's not a battle rifle. Not being semi-auto seems to be enough to disqualify something, I think.

Attached: FR8.png (1128x440, 718K)

It's a long eye relief scope. Still, it's more weight on the front of the gun and makes the rifle even more forward-heavy. Even though the EBR stock is lighter than the wooden one, the weight is all in the front, so the rifle actually feels heavier to hold than it would be with the regular wood stock.

Attached: FAL2.jpg (2500x1632, 3.58M)

Is that an FR8? I just bought one for $500 thats in really nice condition.

Yep. Fun lil rifle, isn't it?

>no other FAL variant had them
You are forgetting about the leafs.

I emailed DSA about this a week or so ago. They said the FAL has to be cut specifically with those tabs.
They're like 3x more expensive, but DSA also sells pic related which should work on any FAL.

God fucking bringing back memories of Katrina. Fuck the NOPD and Harry Lee did nothing wrong.

>In an apocalypse without slings, one man finds his way home.
Tell me more fren, are you from there?

What is necessary to build a FAL parts kit?
What about a cetme parts kit?

Ian and Karl did a whole CETME parts kit build video series you can check out.
