going to meps tomorrow. any advice?

does anyone else have any ragrets about the career path they've chosen in the military?

I'm going the officer route and I always think about what could have been if I had enlisted 18x

Attached: Blade-Runner-2049-Joi-purple-blue.jpg (1280x514, 95K)

Washing out of selection that what would have happened.

Dont

This

Not to suck my own dick or anything, but I got in the 97th percentile on the ASVAB. At that time, I was getting 300's on my PT test. Ended up enlisting 11b in the guard. Qual'd expert at Benning. And I speak Arabic.

I think I would've had a decent shot. Although I suppose everyone thinks that

I still plan on doing it, but as an officer

What MOS goes to Okinawa?

Attached: 52rapes.png (612x445, 96K)

What air force jobs should I avoid besides security forces?

maintenance

What's wrong with security forces?
I want to wear a beret.

Looking for navy jobs where I can be ship based but still have a gun and have the potential for some form of combat or at least train for it regularly.

I know master-at-arms mostly just does base security and I'd spend most of my time just checking IDs at the gate which is not appealing at all since I want to actually be at sea so I've been looking at SCAT and SWCC but I doubt SWCC would be a good option since I only want to go in for 3 or 4 years between my bachelor's and my master's.

Anyone got any experience with the TACP pipeline or know anybody that is a TACP? I want to be able to talk to planes to get them to blow shit up and also roll down on the ground with combat arms guys so TACP seems like the way to go for me. I haven’t been able to talk to anyone about there experiences as a TACP though because it’s not a super popular job.

>brother is enlisting in the navy as a nuke.

>friend who is the Chief Engineer on a sub strait up tells me to inform him its the worst enlisted job in the navy and any other job on a sub is good by comparison

>this information somehow encourages my brother to stick with his choice

mfw hearing him say he still wants to go nuke

My friend is there and he's a marine engineer

Anyone know how long it usually takes for a waiver to come through after you get the battalion commanders recommendation? Just got it Monday, was hoping to know if it’s a relatively quick turnaround after that cause I need to know how much time I have to get my personal affairs in order. It’s an admin waiver if that matters. I figure it’s still just a matter of I jump when they tell me but any kind of general idea would be nice.

I don't want to stand guard checking IDs for 12 hours a day. If you want to that's cool, it's just not for me.

Are language related jobs fucking gay? I have a bachelors (history lol) so I'd be going for a commission.

31K in training here. Just finished the first phase of training, which is mostly MP stuff. Got down time today and tomorrow, and I thought I'd answer questions to anyone who's curious. Sorry, I haven't done any of the cool dog stuff yet. That's all down in Lackland. So info right now is minimal.

Attached: 1549738396751m.jpg (1024x680, 75K)

What do dogniggers even do? Chill and sniff for bombs?

All dogs are trained for patrol work, which is the bite stuff. Then, your dog is either narcotics, or explosives detection. Most of your day is training with detection and obedience. Your dog has to maintain a certain level of detection accuracy and obedience level. And you're doing training while on the road as an MP. That, or you're deploying.

Can anyone go airborne or do you specifically need it in your contract?

Any MOS can go airborne, but a contract can guarantee a slot into the school. Otherwise it can be difficult

>there are anons on Jow Forums that unironically joined the military to live off GIBS and fight for Israel like a good little zogbot
holy shit i seriously hope none of you do this

Does the E-4 mafia have a Godfather?

Gooks refuse niggers LOL makes perfect sense now

Not all of us can live off mommy & daddy or the warehouse

anybody have questions im bored
gunners mate or fc
also every rate can sign up for vbss or IA

I feel bad for the gooks who get raped by groids, but better a gook than somebody here. If I could deport 100% of the basketball-american population to another country I would.

U wot? When I was in Oki there were actual clubs for Mandingo cultural enthusiasts.

am i retarded for wanting to join a combat mos in the army, at this state.... i was thinking about being a FISTER aka 13F.... or would it be wise to get a super POG job and reenlist if cowabunga happens agains. or is peace time combat jobs not as bad as i think...

Also is it true you cant get any options in your contract if you have a medical waiver, i have a singular piece of hardware in my lower leg from a break over 5 years ago

Combat arms can be fun, but don’t expect to get out with certified skills that would put you ahead in an employers eyes. If you’re looking into the military as a stepping stone into a civilian career, take a cushy POG job. If you just wanna fuck around for a bit and make some money and do “young man shit”, combat arms is a good option. Peacetime is kinda shitty but ultimately it’s unit dependent.

As for waivers go, your medical waiver will keep you from taking airborne or ranger in your initial contract, yes. However I think you can still apply to go to those schools and selections after you get to your unit, you just have to have good PT and marksmanship scores and such.

Ultimately, do what you want to do the most. There’s no “right” or “wrong” way to join the military.

How hard is it actually to become an army aviator through high school to flight school?

As of right now you’re gonna be a glorified janitor

I've heard Jow Forumsommandos say that at airborne school, the Rangers will come ask for volunteers and throw them straight into RASP.
Is this actually true? Would it be easier to get an AB contract and volunteer at jump school than to get an opt40 contract?

Attached: 1548975247860.jpg (592x515, 50K)

Is 24 too old to enlist? I know not technically but will I be a 30 year old pfc? Also what’s it like for 68W in the army? Or should I go navy corpsmen?

How hard are clearances to get and what happens if you enlist but don't get the clearance you need for the MOS you're assigned? You get kicked out or assigned another job?

I imagine due to a long term relationship with a foreigner it'd be impossible to get a TS clearance for a MOS but what about a regular secret clearance most MOSes require

Lolno

yeah i understand, idk id like to blow stuff up and i was first contemplating infantry but the AIT is now 22 weeks and that sounds like hell. ive never pushed myself super hard psychically and dont know what i would be in for

>can only do 10 situps

JUST

OSUT is but a drop in the bucket compared to the rest of your career in the military no matter what job/MOS/rate you take my man. Don’t base your decisions on how long or short the training is.

Also for what it’s worth infantry OSUT is only 14 weeks, the 22 week OSUT starts in October this year.

What's it like being an ET in the coast guard? Is it worth the bonus?

is maintenance really that bad?
certainly not, im choosing to enlist at 24 too. just use whatever life experience you have, if any, to deal with whatever 18yo's out of high school couldn't

now for my question... is the air force better for going enlisted > officer than, say, the navy? i feel with your own room, no sea duty, and the increased age limit for most officer positions would point to: yes. i'd be something like a 29yo after first enlistment, so at that point i would need an age waiver to commission as certain kinds of officer. SWO/NFO was particularly appealing to me. i should probably just go air force... but navy culture/uniforms/ships are so cool to me uwu...

Too bad they aren't making good music anymore.

that is a good point, ill keep that in mind

No. I enlisted at 24. You'll make sergeant before you hit 30

Secret clearance was not tough for me. It's basically a check that you exist and you are not a terrorist. Unless there is something major in your history, like a felony, or a recent DUI, then you should be fine

And you'll be reclassed if you fail your security clearance.

Anyone know which branch would have need of an officer with a science/medical bachelors? I’ve checked the Army Medical recruiting branch and it doesn’t seem like I can do too much with my Microbiology degree from what they were saying.

If so, where should I be looking? I’ve always wanted to go Navy to travel, but if I’m just gonna end up behind a desk it might as well be on land.

>officer with a science/medical bachelors
Navy

Discord plox?

Does working for a legal weed company DQ you from joining?

>Rape n' roll
>Nigger Improvise
>Hooked on ebonics

>Good music

Why is 19D gay but 19K isn't?

>Why is 19D gay
it isn't, it's just filled up with spergs that think they're rangers

no

But why does everyone rip in them and say it's gay while ignoring the other 19 series job?

train tubby

>But why does everyone rip in them and say it's gay
it's fun if you really like 19D, they also can attend Sniper School

Admin
It depends on what you get for maintenance. Hydraulics works a fuckload on flightline for every airframe, same with crew chefs. E&E is pretty busy. CNAD is a solid choice.

If you go maintenance, do not go open mechanical or electrical. Pick a career field that you think is interesting and sign for it. Open anything is a terrible terrible choice.

This. Former F-16 Crew Chief here. Unless you LOVE working with your hands and long hours, avoid maintenance.

going open electrical what job should i look for in bmt

you know, I joke a lot but the shit you fuckers did is the kind of shit that goes down in the history books as one of the worst atrocities mankind has ever committed.

You all should be fucking shot.

Perks of being the sole superpower
Can't be arrested and shot if we can't be defeated

No

I have tingling, burning, numbness, and deep throbbing pains throughout most of the day in my left leg, and sometimes right. Other than an MRI and some doctors visits, I have no diagnosis, and no hospital history mentioning it (no idea why I have these pains). I've been prescribed gabapentin, however. Could I get away with this at MEPS, and should I try? I've had a desire to go for becoming a PJ for the past few years, but my medical issues have kept me out of the recruiter office.

Attached: Ayy.jpg (480x823, 64K)

Redpill me on Ft Riley. PCSing there right now.

Attached: 1515286335717.jpg (900x900, 129K)

Yes, there are Ranger recruiters at Airborne, but getting a slot is tough. Usually like 7-10 dudes get one since the recruiters don't really advertise so much as just show up and then leave.
It's far easier to get option 40 or just drop a rasp packet at your unit.

Tbqh osut isn't that hard if you're remotely in shape. You're gonna do lots of exercise while there and most people do their own workouts in the bay to get their scores up. You can't go to a gym (or at least, not in the 14 week cycle) but you'll be fit enough to pass at the end if you don't sandbag during pt/smoke sessions.
The 22 week thing is kinda gay but you get a little better training. For example- I, as a 14-weeker, had a final FTX consisting of basically just doing 3 battle drills and picking up brass, whereas some 22 week or high speed 14 week companies did bunker and trench assaults with simunition at the end.

I'm enlisting in about 1-2 months. Gotta get some other stuff worked out first. Is infantry hard to get? Nevermind op40 or op4, what about the MOS iteself? I keep seeing on (((reddit))) that infantry is super popular and isn't typically available to get. I figured they'd hand that one out to people like it's candy because I hear the retention rates are so shit in the infantry.

Reddit is fucking retarded, there's always available positions for infantry
The only credence I'll give them is that if you want to ship in the summer (May/June/July) there's less of a chance of you getting a combat arms job that you want because of the highschool rush

When do you hope to ship?

>Is infantry hard to get
Nah. Usually you can bug your recruiter about it if it isn't available but generally slots are open.
That aside, PLEASE do not join the infantry. Do anything else. You'll thank me later.

Is there any particular reason why? Beyond the usual "don't pick a rate for the bonus" stuff. Reading over the job description it seems like something I'd be content with but it's hard to find first hand accounts of the job

As soon as I can, really. So if I try to ship out before the summer (or after the summer?) I should be able to get a slot for infantry?

Is it because of the 11Janitor meme? I mean.... if getting to sperg out in the woods for weeks on end with guns means I have to spend the rest of my time playing fuckaround games and cleaning the barracks, I dunno if I'd mind it too much

Do VBSS teams actually see any action

(Specifically navy or coast guard)

Attached: A28F59D4-475E-4CC8-8F0E-9A003591D516.jpg (600x535, 164K)

Your chances will be much much higher. I was at MEPS on December 6 and when I was looking at jobs, my liason told me that there were only 15 11B spots open for a June date, and I can only imagine those have filled up now.

March and April timeframes are good because you don't have as many people going because high school hasn't gotten out yet, and people who signed to leave after the holidays are already long gone.

2nd day of meps tomorrow. any advice?

have fun

350F here. Ama next few hours.

Jag any good? Don't care so much about making the private sector dollars, would rather do something interesting

If you spend all your time on a boat with other dudes you'll be doing a lot of scat alright
>Carlos.jpg

what is the outlook on a prior enlisted seeking to commish at 30?

350F here.

Go for it. Im mid 30s and still going (albeit reserves).

What you planning to do? What did you do?

Want to join the reserves as an officer and talking to the recruiters at the ANG bases in my state the general consensus is that they tend to try to hire from within as far as officers go. Is this the case for most guard units? Sounds like it'll be harder to join the reserves as the units have slots to fill as opposed to joining active where I could probably get a spot easier but lord knows what state it would be in.

would there be any reason to join the marines over the army. Literally everyone Ive spoken with tells me to avoid them like the plauge and I just dont get it, what do they have that I wont get in either the army or air force

im very interested in combat arms related MOS's

Attached: 1520199021661.jpg (273x240, 50K)

Bro203 here, taking Marine/Officer questions for the next few hours.

Tell me the best air force job if I qualify for everything. I want to be deployed.

350F here.

Are you talking about ANG as in air NG? Because i actually just went through their shit and af reserves BS, to help a friends kid get a clear answer on going officer with either since they kept ghosting the kid.

Short answer is AF ng and reserves are not taking any non prior service as officers. I spoke directly with both recruiting commands and they said that they will only consider medical, chaplain, or legal.

If going for combat, and just want to be a basic combat dude, go usmc. If you wanna do specific shit or special operations, army is the way to go.

4N.

Sooooo many fucking opportunities to deploy.

Sup bro, you in NC still?

>350F

Yeah ANG, and the one said something to that effect where they fast tracked guys with specific skills docs, pilots, lawyers etc. My degree is in information technology but I'm assuming those skills are becoming more common these days. Do you think I would have a better shot going army national guard for their officer route?

what about marsoc or recon marines? whats the difference between that and an army ranger?

Once you get you’re gonna be homeless as fuck, but at least you’re a Devil Dog

Want my advice? If you cant go AF ng or reserves, go Navy reserves. I really cant recommend army ng or reserves if you want to be an IT related officer.

Now, if you didnt care to do an IT specific mil career field, and had something in mind, then i could probably advise you for some other routes.

Since not looking at AD, you have a civ career youre looking at?

>He’s a janitor
>In the infantry
>In the US military
>He does it for free
>Cuz he thought it’d be call of duty

Ranger can be guaranteed in your contract. Marsoc, not so much.

Ive never had a girlfriend, there were no parties or really anything to do in my home town. I live in the midwest and the entertainment was drinking in a walmart parking lot or doing heroin.
Im stuck between joining the national guard, doing half assed military stuff but its still somthing, while also getting out of this shit hole and having a social life vs going active duty. How much of a social life do AD guys have? I know I wont have the freedom like I would as a civilian but what do you guys do for fun? All ive read about is getting drunk in the barracks and idk if I can do that anymore

Attached: 1535649429821.png (284x339, 120K)

and IIRC if you fail out of marsoc or recon you get recycled back into the needs of the marines where as the army you get recycled back into your previous unit/MOS

Only 50% really do the whole drinking shit, and thats mostly the sub 21 kids. I have a group of mid 20-35yo friends where we go to wineries and try new food places on the weekends, and maybe end the day at a brewery or something.

AD is better than NG or res hands down for social shit. If you live in the barracks you can shout down the hallway if you want to hang with people, or just go outside and ask randoms on base if they want to do shit. You will always find someone who will want to hang.
