What are the best gas masks?
What are the best gas masks?
For what?
I bought a fantastic full-face DoD surplus 3M one, commercial but accepts nato filters. FR-7800B or similar? So I'd say that.
They're real expensive new but mine was new-surplus, I think $75
Masking gasses
Fart pads
Just a shtf mask I guess also would use it for chemistry projects I do every now and then. That seems really reasonable will look into it.
I’ll level with you here. In all honesty I’d just get a 3M especially if it’s just for chemistry, there are a fuck ton of filters available even from your local Lowe’s/Home depot.
I’m will put this pin in your SHTF idea and this isn’t just to be an asshole either.
A gas mask will be helpful in a SHTF situation if you are facing tear gas and trying to get out of dodge... that’s about it.
If you are talking about military grade stuff then 1. It’ll likely be only used in massive population centers 2. Due to the dispersal rate if you live outside of these massive population centers you should be fine anyway and 3. Unless you are in full CBRN gear at the time of the attack you are going to die anyway, if anything it may be quicker and less painful without the mask. There’s a reason the troops rolling through Iraq wore full NBC gear at all times, it’s because the “gas” can fuck you up from simply skin contact.
I've been thinking of getting a gas mask, and I was wondering if getting a size too big would fuck up the sealing of the mask, because there is an FM12 on amazon, but only in large and small. also, should I even bother with the FM12 or just get one of the Israeli civi masks available/M15
>he doesn't carry atropine autoinjectors and a full cbrn suit at all times
It's like you don't even want to survive.
BRAP
If your SHTF plan includes anything that damages buildings, a respirator is very important for protection from harmful dusts, mold spores, etc.
If you're concerned you might encounter large amounts of decaying matter (animal or otherwise), a filter with activated charcoal will remove the organic vapours and allow you to work safely and in relative comfort.
This is true however I will note to people to be wary especially when there are lots or particulates I.e. building collapses because those filters can clog up fast in them and then you won’t be getting much air in.
I was more aiming that at the people who go oh I’ll survive the chemical attack because I have spent $xxx on my milsurp gas mask
I'm gonna be honest, I don't think a CBRN attack on my house is likely, I own a mask because it's cool
And that is absolutely fine, you clearly are not delusional, I like that
Not looking to survive nerve gas lol i know id need full cbrn just looking for a solid mask is all.
Have used both the fm12 and S10
Would HIGHLY recomend both
S10 for aesthetics
Fm12 for comfort
If that's the case I would definitely recommend looking at the higher end commercial models. Better replacement filter availability, better construction, no concern about asbestos like older surplus masks. The only real feature you might be losing out on is a canteen straw.
I'd definitely buy the FM12 right now, but my biggest concern is size. I assume I'm a medium, so would getting a large be a waste of money? I assume if it fits and seals correctly then it really isn't that big of a deal
visionlet here, whats a good gasmask I can wear with my glasses on underneath them without becoming a dead
>inb4 LASIK
>inb4 don't wear glasses
I quite enjoy being able to see past my 5" dick
also visionlet, I believe the only way is to get an insert with custom prescription, or find a way to mount the individual lenses of your glasses to the inside of the mask. very few masks might let you just put on your glasses on the outside of the mask
Ask your optician about getting custom lenses made for your mask if it's not a common type with a prescription insert frame.
