What is your favorite edge grind?

I like convex grind on knives and axes but only bother putting it on axes, where I figure they need all the edge strength they can get. Most knives I go for compound, it is like convex but lazier. For my chisels I prefer chisel grind.

Flat. Why? Because it's the best all-around edge and it's the simplest to sharpen.

Alright knife autism thread. Convex is the best without debate if you got the tools/jig for it. Flat if you got basic tools like a stone.
Inb4 retards confusing edge with blade grinds.
It's exaggerated but it can be good if the back of the blade isn't flat. For example oneside cane be like 40 degrees and other is 5 degrees.

Closest guess is they want a chisel edge with more durability, but that would also fuck up the placement of you're using it like a chisel

I prefer a scandi (flat) edge for an outdoor/hard use/utility edge.
I like a hollow grind with a super fine secondary (compound) edge for all else

Asymetrical flat/convex is objectively the best for field use and the easiest to resharpen and fix.

I find myself using Compound more often than not simply because it's durable.


Only time I've seen it is with a mason's chisel. It's real sturdy but otherwise kinda dull.

Chisel is slight easier to sharpen.

Full flat is based and redpilled.
Shit for everything but wood work.

They aren't, scandi lacks a secondary bevel.

i just run it through my grandpa's old cory until it's sharp enough to shave some arm hairs off and call it good

Convex for most edged tools, and flat for kitchen knives.
