This. There is no real solution, only best practices. School shootings have always been a thing, but drastically increased in events and severity as rights have been taken away and people stopped being taught about weaponry en masse.

Student 1 didnt go for a gun, but Teacher reacted in a high stress situation, where he knew the student was armed. If a cop knew i was armed, and i was yelling at him, then i reached in my coat, you telling me he wouldnt shoot? A teacher who allows an argument to get to that point is a shitty teacher in the first place, and the student is a shitty student. Removal from a situation of that sort should be swift. Disciplinary action should be swift. You pretend as though allowing guns would automatically turn classrooms into the wild west, yet incidents were much less frequent and less severe when firearms were regularly available and visible. Shitty students are endemic. Every single class i have ever taught has at least 2 usually 5-7.

I'm surprised there's not more shootings. You're sent to an institution, where the teachers are about as intelligent as the students (the smart teachers left a long time ago. All of these kids more than likely come from single mothers, were abused - neglect, verbally, sexually, physically, etcetera by god knows who. Their own mother, family members, the company their mother brings home. You're surrounded by all of these damaged kids - their adverse childhood experience scores are collectively astronomical. There is nothing you can do to save the "public education system" other than completely dismantling it. It's 40+ hours a week of wasted time. Homeschool your kids, even if it's only for 25 hours a week. They will end up being smarter than most college graduates.

I was implying that school shooters are "dumb" for not using the best method to kill a large number of people (because that is usually their end goal) and instead just using a gun to shoot 5 kids and then kill themselves.
