Is the US military really as unprofessional compared most other NATO militaries as it often appears?

Is the US military really as unprofessional compared most other NATO militaries as it often appears?
I'm curious because from all I hear about it here, it seems to consist to a large amount of high school drama and people that wouldn't even get halfway through the selection process in most european countries.

It's really on a unit by unit basis and further more company by company. At least while I was in

not only unprofessional but completely incompetent. some say it's the worst military in the history of the world.

To be honest, if the US Military wasn’t so full of shenanigans and bullshit I probably would have offed myself ages ago. It’s basically America in a microcosm.

lol this guy believes everything he sees on media websites

>high school drama and people that wouldn't even get halfway through the selection process in most european countries
true 100%
t. cook who works with insufferable fatties with the mental capacities of 13 year olds

I love how everything they depicted of the US was based in truth.

>selection process
Don't you have conscription? Not a dig at you just wondering

Honestly not seeing the problem with pic related. Gunnys get thirsty at the BX too.

shes wearing her cover indoors, one of the first things youre taught not to do.

Actually I take it back. She should have removed her duty belt if she's not on duty, and therefore her cover as well. Still not as nasty as Army fags wearing cammies in public.

Drill sergeants do whatever the fuck they want within reason.
That being said there’s no way that’s a drill sergeant or whatever the fuck they’re called in the marines.

You wear a cover indoors if you're armed, and wearing a duty belt means you're symbolically armed. But as I noted, she doesn't appear to be on duty.

>cook

Pick an mos with higher standards next time moron.

Kind of depends on the MOS, cooks and clerks, some mechanics too are generally high school kids from shitty areas so yeah they suck. But the US military thrives on chaos. I had a great time in the Army.

>7th fleet fuckery
That's just cheating

>US military really as unprofessional compared most other NATO militaries as it often appears?

not really a yes or no answer. t. former USN who worked with NATO forces. the one thing the US military has going for it is massive amounts of money to throw at problems to make them go away. basically IRL easy mode. everything is designed to be used by the lowest common denominator (which in the military, is pretty low) and we have a large population to revitalize the workforce with if people die or separate. If we had the operating budget of your average NATO country you can bet your ass that we'd be raising standards to a massive degree and enforcing stricter rules.

on the flip side of this, a lot of NATO countries i've worked with have a seemingly laissez faire way of doing business, at least on the naval aviation side of things which was my background and the areas i worked with them in. i spent a day on board the Charles Du Gaulle aircraft carrier when i was in the persian gulf during a deployment, and they were straight up watching lesbian porn on TV's in a work area, and a woman was sitting on top of a guy and they were holding hands. a sailor later told me of all the hidden spaces on board which were the best for hooking up.

tl;dr US Armed Forces aren't the most unprofessional in the world, but we definitely have some strange priorities compared to most countries, but we're so rich and have the most toys that it doesn't matter. we can still outperform anything and everything else.

Jow Forums hates America to a comical level
I wouldn't trust anything they say unless the provide a reliable source to their claims

I love how they still got the shit kicked out of them regardless.

Depends.

Combat is basically fratbros and wannabe chads. Intelligence is universally autismos who fap to anime.

I'll have you know that I didn't start beating off to anime until AFTER I ETS'd from Army intel

The military is where you go if you have redneck parents or no other prospects, also the retards that come from military families getting tricked into it.

>t. Kike

Pretty much, but you don’t have to be so mean about it. Some of us leave with degrees, Jow Forums, and no debt.

Mad cuz its true lol

CSG 8?
'Round 2015-16?

CSG-1, 14-15. You guys relieved us, i was on CVN-70.

>is the US military useless and incompetent?
Yes, next question

drill instructor

DS/DIs are in practice allowed to wear their covers indoors because trainees are supposed to distinguish them from line unit NCOs. What she is actually doing wrong is eat/drinking while moving around; because as that picture shows, it looks unprofessional from a photogenic standpoint.

But from a realistic standpoint, she's got 45 minutes to commute/shop/eat during lunch and the exchange is going to be closed by the time the trainees are put to bed. You'd be doing the same and unless a SGM is around, and they wont be because they always eat lunch in their office because they don't want to be seen in public eating because of exactly pic-related, nobody is going to give her shit because of her rank.

US military isn't as uptight about all the formalities as NATO although they are generally followed.

Having served w/NATO troops I know how totally fucked they are

Yes. Then again, the US's whole gig is just being able to throw money and raw manpower at the problem if need be, with just enough of a technological advantage to give them an edge.

With that said, its hard to determine whether youd rather have mediocre people using good equipment (US) or good people using mediocre equipment (rest of NATO). Although on a man to man basis nations like the UK far outclass the US in terms of your average infantryman.

Depends on the country. Bigger countries further away from Russia are volunteer only, smaller countries closer to Russia have conscription. Bigger counties that are closer to Russia and smaller counties further away from Russia may or may not have conscription.
Germany and France: no conscription
Switzerland: conscription
Poland: no conscription
Baltic states: conscription

What do you think is unprofessional in the picture?

I see a drill sergeant standing in line taking a drink. She is probably on her lunch. She is wearing a pistol belt (so armed) so her cover is on indoors. As the drill sergeant is a symbolic figure her being out in public in full dress helps promote a positive image in the community and is good for recruitment.
Unprofessional? Sure looks to me like a soldier doing her job. What the fuck have you done today user?

Marines not army.

I wouldn't say the American military is unprofessional, but less selective with the people among them. Since they're fighting 313794 wars simultaneously, they'll accept almost everyone while other militaries can pick who is going in.
If you have the opportunity to talk with an American lieutenant and a lieutenant of another armed forces, you'll see the difference. Same with the police of the army.

I didn't eat fucking crayons and I'm over 5'4" and was an actual soldier so I say Sargent.

Well let's put it this way. The smart kids don't usually enlist. Never in the whole history of the American military has a kid had two choices:

1) Go to college, join a frat, party, fuck sororstitutes until the house smells like a grocery store lobster tank...
or
2) Join the military and do menial and degrading tasks while being yelled at and paid a shitty wage for it...

...and chosen the latter.

Most nato .mils are largely unprofessional but I only have experience with those on the Mediterranean Sea.
I’d say the US is better than them.

it's mainly because it doesn't have a competitive selection system, just enlistment

Fr*nch people

Sorry man, the bonus was worth it, and cooking (real food for myself) is my passion.

*sergeant

look, just because nobody checks your ID when you come in here doesn't mean you get to talk shit to adults on the PC your mom got you.

>adults
>PC
>weak mom reference
Nothing points to you being an adult.

>Join the military and do menial and degrading tasks while being yelled at and paid a shitty wage for it...

then we used to just go to your college campus and fuck your sororitutes too, they love military dick because we dont have dad bods they pretend to like.

Guess they really don't teach much in the military.

No, you are not. Try again.

>glock
dude.
okay, so are you actually retarded or..?

This is exactly what I pictured a French warship would be like.

When my dad was in 1968 to 1987. Very much unit by unit. Lots of dumb people, but there are lots of dumb people anywhere. When he was in Germany on NATO maneuvers, he always thought the NATO troops were nice guys, but they only trained. Most of the guys in my Dad's unit had seen combat in Vietnam. Basically, because we constantly like to get into random wars we know how to fight a little better. He said the WW2 german colonels and majors would sing old German Wehrmacht marching songs that were banned. He thought the Germans had to suppress their past. He thought the British troops did the most with the least and was impressed with their improvisation with their shit military hardware.

It takes a huge amount of man power to keep a machine the size of the US military going. There is a great demand for drones and general maintenance to keep it running and ready to use.
The more people you have working together on anything, the less efficient they become at their job. That is a rule. Thats why every successful fighting force in history has deeply layered command structures and seperated their men into smaller and smaller groups. It gives everyone a strong sense of personal accountability all the way to the bottom up. There isn't very much more you can do you improve efficiency and maintain a military force of this size after you hit these levels of diminishing results. At least right now we're rich enough to just throw trillions and trillions of dollars to keep everything going.

>glock
You okay there little guy?

CG-68
Fuck Bahrain.

The US military is generally as professional as most other Western Militaries, maybe slightly less than some other ones because of our retarded modern culture, however if you could see what goes on in the Russian, or Chinese military, you would be shocked.

The US military highlights all of its downfalls constantly, whereas many eastern militaries don't to save face as much as possible. Propaganda and the public view matter much more to the East than the West.

We may have some corruption but at least you can see the corruption in the US military. Other militaries you can't say the same as it is always covered up.

The bottom line is that if you look at the news constantly, you will think that the world sucks. Same for looking at military news in the US. We are just really transparent.

Attached: 1551459791661.jpg (676x450, 61K)

Bah. College girls love military dick because even the most beta among us is still less cucked than the most alpha twink in her feminist literature classes.

Basically this. We can admit we’re fuckups & rejects who still get the job done.

Easterners puff up their chests and show off their elite republican guard amazon ninjas doing pointless “Hurr durr me so tough” circus acts before surrendering at the sight of US forces.

So you either carry a chunky polymer brick with ten round magazines for no reason, or you pay 6X the value for u-notch mags just so you can have a real Glawk brand Glawk. K bro.

French Navy seems pretty based not gonna lie

Gotta agree here. I can be a pretty prejudiced asshole, mainly because I see stupid behavioral shit from blacks all the time that just indicates lazy, entitled, disgusting attitudes.
This woman doesn't strike me that way, sorry. Slurping down a drink probably never looks super professional for anyone, but we all do it. And you go taking a photo to shame me for it, you're the asshole.

bullshit, not even hard core civilian, faggot

You didn't follow? Ok. I called you a try hard. A poser.

>We may have some corruption but at least you can see the corruption in the US military. Other militaries you can't say the same as it is always covered up.

would disagree with that part. in my 6 years in i saw a lot of corruption going on, particularly with the senior NCOs. one got a junior, brand new check in pregnant and he was transferred and retired early. former US Navy for what's its worth

The Navy is so sheisty it becomes funny

yeah, no joke. my favorite was the south american senior NCOs showing their gang tattoos and flaunting how they're still "part" of whatever ghetto gangs they used to run with. ending with a veiled threat that if we ever pissed them off there would be consequences. real professional.

Typical kraut response to being bulldozed by African American BVLLs. Enjoy your new "son", Fritz; your wife sure appreciated Tyrone helping her make it.

Kek. I remember my brother telling me there’s literally NCOs and lower COs who run everything from larceny rackets to dope rings to small time pimping.

can't speak for the rest, but i was on a carrier when a prostitution ring got busted. I vaguely remember something about a drug ring on another carrier and dug this up off of google:

navytimes.com/news/your-navy/2018/11/06/officials-ronald-reagan-lsd-probe-bigger-than-you-think-14-nuke-sailors-snagged/

Honestly, I'm surprised they weren't smoking on the bridge and drinking wine with breakfast but otherwise yeah, that's exactly how I pictured the French Navy. An aircraft carrier staffed entirely by VD carriers sounds about right.

Yes. Has the largest proportion of welfare jobs program.

Hows that pedo-sexuality working for you? Tranny 10 year olds? Whites being pushed from their home nation by 2050? Pathetic. I'm not a kraut, just an American who's fucking disgusted at what has happened to use you commie bastards. Look around us, cultural marxism has destroyed the US and Europe and you are to busy circle-jerking over the fact we lost WW2. Remember Patton at all? No, you're so blind it's laughable. Nothing but glorified NPCs that kiss that ass of those that caused this. You'll be judged with the rest of them.

You’ll save time later if you develop a serious drinking problem now. Just try to be sober when you get to Two Rock.

SEETHING

better than being a NEET, and I say that as a NEET.

I spent a lot of time with the South Korean army, which is not shabby as far as mass-levy armies go. They fucked shit up constantly, even beyond what you would expect from the average squad leader being a conscript plucked from playing grindy cell phone RPGs to clutch a rifle for two years.

The difference was that it was straight up illegal to air dirty laundry about their army, and even a bunch of stuff that wasn't technically illegal would get banned one way or another if you tried to broadcast it.

>working armed close protection stateside
i bet you wear armor on details as well, you fucking larper carless shitbag

the problem is is that it almost certainly wont fix the mental issues causing you to be a NEET, and it might actually make them worse
there is no shortage of homeless vets, or vets otherwise working jobs for teenagers as 40+ year olds

Look at those big ol military brains

If anyone's army loses to literal communists, then let's be honest, they're the subbest of humans. MUH JOOS

>enlisting is usually a terrible decision
>I enlisted... and I also had sex!

truly enlightening

Lol I literally did both. Fucked off my first year partying and fucking bitches in the dorms at UTSA. Ended up boxing this dude for sport with 14’s in the courtyard of said dorms, knocked him out and he busted his head on the cement. Campus police and ampulampse came. Also got caught paintballing the shit out of the hallways and outside of the building late one night with my roomy (he ended up blasting some random black chick coming back from the club with my marker) and I was immediately referred to judicial affairs. With a chip on my shoulder and having had completely pissed away shitloads of time and money, I went to my nearest recruiter’s office, got a 90 on my ASVAB and stupidly went Airborne Infantry lol and the rest is history. I would come back on leave (midtour leave as well) and go back to UTSA and party with my old friends, do coke and fuck sorority bitches. Good times. Wouldn’t change a thing.

You ain't gonna do shit but die of a bad heart before you sire any offspring. Hitler was a dumbass, Germany can't fight wars and your personnal failings have far less to do with the jews than you tell yourself so that last bullet you own looks less tasty

Wouldn't you like to walk up behind her, and kick her in her flabby ass then call her to attention.

I was in a frat and am now trying to enlist as a CTI. Commissioning was not for me.

I've only ever worked with the ANA and the Dutch. The ANA has gotten much better, but the average Army fag is vastly superior.

The dutch were more uptight than us, and nearly went Winchester shooting at a hasty machine gun team that peaced out without them noticing, so i don't think much of them. but that is just one example

7th Fleet Navy here (USS GW/RRN). There's always going to be shitty outliers that make press, but there's a big difference in behavior between Enlisted and Officers in 7th. For the majority of Enlisted, they're people who kept their noses clean enough to get overseas deployability clearance, which usually means they're also trying to keep it (the pay is better for overseas personnel) as well as make rank. Domestic Sailors trying to stay in places like San Diego and Norfolk are typically shitheels that joined the Navy but still want to be able to go to their homes every night.

Officers, however, are entirely different. Most of them here under O-4 are just transferring or there on temporary or on-the-job training tours. They couldn't give less of a fuck, and it shows. I've met maybe two

No fucking way is that real

do you really use a sub 2000 as a duty gun? I feel bad for your employer/charge

Plenty of people do 4 years for free college and hiring incentives. Committing 4 years to basically just bullshit busy work netted me $45k in savings (cause I showed some financial responsibility), a BS with no debt, and some applicable skills in IT in the industry.

The military is entirely what you make of it. If you're a driven individual and goal oriented it can put you ahead. If you're a lazy nigger with no plans past your next paycheck (which is like 80% of service members) then it'll probably suck.

>CVN-70
Vinson just pulled in and holy fuck I've never such a gaggle of inept retards. The huge heroin bust they just made isn't it the least of it.
