Shameless self bump

Combat tupperware is fine, y'know, holds up, and it works, but it kind of just lacks the proper feel of a metal framed pistol with a hammer.

There are plenty of "female friendly" threads elsewhere for you to browse user.

i want a 4506 so bad

>4506
move over manlet

They should have made one in .45 Winchester Magnum

>just make it in some wildcat cartridge
No, I like my 10mm at 28cpr not 280cpr thanks

>tfw cant find pre-hillary hole 586 anywhere locally

inb4 one of you chucklefucks posts a gunbroker link

Where the fuck else are you going to find one for an actually decent price but online?

armslist and gunbroker is your friend.

but the 586 doesn't have the good s&w bluing

gunbroker.com/item/801400166

here 10m left go nuts

There are tons of used S&W lying around in gun shops. I've seen old 586s before but now that I actually want to buy one it seems like they have vanished.

The one's I have handled are all beautiful

>There are tons of used S&W lying around in gun shops. I've seen old 586s before but now that I actually want to buy one it seems like they have vanished.
And yet they'll charge up like an asshole and demand you pay tax on top of it.

Sounds a lot like buying from gunbroker minus the tax ofc.

>when I finally hear about how great s&w autos are they're literally all gone
>the previous years people were selling them like they were doffing murder evidence

It's like the one practical Magnum auto cartridge that caught on at all.
You can actually find commercial loads of it, sometimes.

But I didn't mean replacing the 1006 or 4506, I meant more that Smith & Wesson should have made a Magnum sized frame. Yes, I know demand would have been low, but they could have done it as a custom shop thing.

I'm mirin

You clearly don't browse gunbroker enough to think that gunbroker isn't one of the best places to find cheap guns that haven't been made anymore.

The end of an era, 909 with plastic parts replaced with 39 series good stuff, also night sights.

Attached: slunfy5.jpg (1024x768, 371K)

>It's like the one practical Magnum auto cartridge that caught on at all.
Except it didn't because its fucking not.

You can't find commercial loads of shit if I can't buy it on sgammo or targetsportsusa its fucking nonsense.

Just because it's possible to get a good deal there doesn't mean it's a common occurrence.

except it is, you literally shop like its ebay. Outside of armslist which is arguably the harder website to find used, less than common guns, gunbroker is the cheapest website.

Congrats at thinking paying for LGS markup and tax is somehow cheaper than gunbroker where shipping is often cheap as fuck and transferring to a LGS is even cheaper than paying tax especially on

>600$ guns my bad

no pics, but I have a CHP 4006 TSW and I just went on a binge and bought three other 3rd gens, a 6906, a 6904, and a 5926 that I found on AIM if you can believe that. Now I'm hunting for a 3913/14 and a 3953 if I can ever find one local

ammoseek.com/ammo/45-winchester-magnum

>over a fucking dollar per round
yea no, 10mm is 28cpr and 45acp is 25cpr. Not paying over a dollar for some wildcat bullshit.

I guess I have just been unlucky.

Whenever I have found a gun I might buy in gunbroker I have gotten a better deal in a local shop. They are happy to match prices in most cases.

>I guess I have just been unlucky.
idk wtf you're even looking for. I seriously doubt you'll find a better deal at a local gun store including the tax and markup bullshit when you can compare each 586 online right next to each other instantly and pick the one you want.

>match prices
and pay more tax than you would in shipping and transfer.

Fuck yeah, smith autoloaders thread?

Attached: IMG_20181012_164049066.jpg (1368x2430, 892K)

10mm and 45acp arent comparable to 45win mag. It's more comparable to a 44 mag out of an auto loader. I was just posting to show there is factory loaded ammo. Could probably reload it with 45 colt dies for cheap as fuck if you found something chambered in it.

3 inch J-frame is correct length J-frame

Attached: 20180224_211017.jpg (2048x1536, 1.27M)

>comparable to 44 mag
ok and theres already a few 44 mag autoloaders like the deagle and 44 mag is as cheap as 48cpr not 1+ dollar per

I live in CA. There is a sales tax on gunbroker purchases for us.

Gunbroker is simply not cheaper for me. If it is for you, congratulations, but it isn't a constant variable.

As a rule, I ALWAYS stop at a gun store whenever I drive past one. Stop in, chat with the owner, get a look at their merchandise. Eventually, you'll find the ones that sell lots of used guns and you'll figure out where to check out regularly, maybe every couple of weeks. Don't be afraid to haggle, within reason, and you can get a sweet ass older smith for at most $600 unless you live in a super rich area or something.

Attached: IMG_20180810_145507329_HDR.jpg (2430x1368, 563K)

>I live in CA. There is a sales tax on gunbroker purchases for us.
Only if the person you're buying from will charge you tax for it. You realize that if you're buying the gun from out of state and the guy doesn't need to collect sales if he doesn't have a presence in the state. For example if a dude is selling a Gen 3 glock 17 from montana privately he doesn't and won't collect sales tax from you.

The tax is collected when you pay for the FFL because CA likes to extort its gun owners. It's bullshit but it happens.

can't find an FFL that will charge only like 25 dollars to transfer? The same shit is in NY but a kitchen table FFL near me is only 25

cheapest FFL around me is $50

nothing is cheap here

nothing

Ok so cali sales tax is 7.25% this means that buying a gun in store is cheaper when the cost of the gun is less than 690 dollars assuming theres no markup. The same logic is in NY but mine are usually a little cheaper transfers but our sales tax is 8%

>There are tons of used S&W lying around in gun shops
no there are not. most gun shops around here only carry new stock and won't buy someones old gun, or offer them next to nothing. I watched some guy in a large local shop ask how much they would give him for his Sig 2022, they offered him $100 in store credit. if you want to find used of any flavor it's the internet or the pawn shops run by cranky old assholes. even living a dense urban area like the 513 is suffering

S&W is big gay

Can one of you who has target stocks on your revolver like tell me how wide/thick they are? I want to make a set for my model 10, and I need to know what thickness of walnut to start with.

>the cost of the gun is less than 690 dollars
I am talking about used S&W revolvers. They can often be had for that price.

it highly depends on the model. Tons go for below and above that.

How would I go about getting a Colt-style hammer shroud on a K frame snub? I need it in my life.

Well the reason I came into this thread mildly upset in the first place is because I've passed up the model I wanted for around the ~$550 mark before.

your boi is to fat fur mi

Guess we're all cool with S&W now after that investor meeting? Weird dimension, in mine we hate these guys for caving in to gun grabbers.

literally every gun posted ITT is pre-hillary hole era for a reason

Absolute facts here

BIG IRON

Smith thread, best thread

Info please?

I can never not think of Training Day. Also this is facts. I have a buddy I try to explain this to, he buys Glocks over and over again and thinks all his weapons need to be combat oriented. Gotta appreciate the historic/mechanical art side IMO to fully appreciate this sport/hobby

Google pic, but I still have yet to shoot this baby

That’s a nice gun and good work on it user

Straight up the best American mfg to date. Yah locks blah blah...still the best historically and easily the best left of the OG's

This is literally the perfect size/barrel length for .38.

Shield 1.0 with too much money into it.

Im not sure any one ever made them

This whole thread as points out correctly is early smith autoloaders and classic revolvers. Hillary can suck it. Bring the smith autoloaders back

If they start mfg DA/SA again you can bet they'll be plastic like the MP

I want one of these so bad, I love smith and I want a P99 because I love Walther and Cowboy Bebop. Best of all three worlds.

Bring back A L U M I N U M

3913? I need one in my life. I had a 39-2 and 59 that are both gone now

6906 bud, love it to death

ALUMINUM

Attached: BShsOpfCIAImMGe.jpg (400x270, 18K)

I'd really like to find a 422 or 622. The low bore is really cool. (not my picture)

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 71K)

It looks nice

>Low bore
This was the same with the Taxi Driver gun the Escort Model 61. I bought one randomly one day, unfortunately I got one of the many lemons. Really wish Smith would have worked the kinks out, one of the only weapons they discontinued. Really neat gun

Attached: 350px-S&W61EscortNickel.jpg (350x272, 29K)

I know you got trips but you're wrong. 3" k frame is best 38.

Attached: 7ePqlI.jpg (3872x2592, 733K)

I got one in a trade for an 870 its a fun little gun that has a great little trigger. Its funny design and looks are nice aswell.

K frame is too overbuilt for .38. Don't get me wrong it's easy to shoot, but it's better for .357. 3 inch j frame is accurate, big enough, while not being overwhelming. This is my opinion after owning a 19, 19 snub, 10, 36 snubs, and 36 3". It's especially great for a lady shooter who needs something for defense at home, might have trouble with autos and snubbies require too much skill

>it's easy to shoot

That's the point.

Attached: S&W Gunfighter1.jpg (896x672, 136K)

I'm not saying they're not great, I'm just saying that all around the J frame 3" is more perfect IMO. I used to have a police trade target barrel Model 10 that was a tack driver. Was just alot of revolver for .38, compared to the 36 3"

>alot of revolver for .38

Are you high? Medium frames like the K or colt's D frame are the the standard, the ruler by which everything else is judged. They tried to shoehorn 357 into the K frame and that led to all kinds of problems hence the L frame. I love my J frames for carry but for actual shooting there's nothing like a K in 38spl for effortless efficiency.

10-8s

Attached: 20170901_043402.jpg (2048x1536, 1.37M)

Thank you man

It's a bit hotter and heavier than .44 Magnum, while being rimless, meaning it plays much better in box magazines.

The Desert Eagle is only kind of so-so with reliability, even with proper technique and ammunition (which you can't really cheap out on for a Deagle), while a short-recoil action works pretty fool-proof (if with some stouter recoil).

You got a problem with that?

Attached: 6277AB5B-2B61-4903-A6AF-8F9F03BE03EA.gif (640x480, 548K)

K frame master race.

Attached: 100_2568.jpg (2048x1536, 910K)

everytime I see one of these without the trigger guard it gives me anxiety

It's berfegly safe.

Attached: Safety.gif (377x161, 614K)

pussy

Attached: safety always off.jpg (480x360, 13K)

The heavy DA trigger is the safety. For it to go off something has to exert 12+lbs of force straight back through the whole travel while something else exerts 12+lbs of force to hold the gun still. Highly unlikely to happen inadvertently.

That's just my opinion, no I'm not high.

It's not a Glock user

And?

Attached: 459_2.png (459x602, 552K)

Pleasantly surprised with the new classic series.

Picked up a 586-8 4" bbl combat magnum for like $550 over Black Friday.
Build quality is solid and the finish is damn nice

Attached: 586-8.jpg (640x480, 64K)

Don't get any hoppes #9 on it....lol

Attached: modern S&W bluing.jpg (800x600, 47K)

Wait...really? It can't handle Hoppes?

yes it can, just dont let it soak for long periods of time and done use those lead removal cloths
