It's actually based on the Romanian copy of the AKM.
Is good AK.
Some importers built them bad.
It gud
What else is there on the US market that isnt highly suspect or confirmed awesome and overpriced as hell?
Current problem is the Century Juden increasing the price on them so much in order to funnel purchases to their in house made garbage. I picked one up for 619 in 2017 from Atlantic Firearms and that was on the more expensive side. Now at 700 to 750 dollars it pushes the price point up to close to what's perceived as higher quality AKs.
Best entry-level AK on the market. Buy new though. Old WASRs had questioned QC.
Good guns. Wish they had dimples.
i have one, a 2015 production. no mo mag wobble and a chrome lined barrel makes it bretty gud, the price is getting a little high though. paid $620 for it in 2016, have about 2500-3000 rounds through it no problems yet, stick to bear ammo. also since its a WASR it's culturally acceptable to disgrace it with magpul furniture that you wouldnt let a higher quality AK touch.
They're pieces of shit. I had one.
I bought one in 2015. No cant to the sights, no mag wobble, none of the problems they used to have and that butthurt npap users say they have. Hit torso sized targets at 350m with iron sights. Never jams, never ftf, been running wolf through since day 1 without problems.
It's a good rifle, but I'd replace the stock as soon as possible, I've been cucked by the weather and hours were reduced.
t. college fag
>What else is there on the US market that isnt highly suspect or confirmed awesome and overpriced as hell?
Preban Saigas, Veprs, and Norincos if you are willing to pay. There are also the WBP Fox rifles being imported by Atlantic that seem pretty good. I would immediately swap out the trigger for a surplus or ALG Defense one if you do buy one, though. They are using Century triggers in them that are out of spec when it comes to hardness, and it will mushroom the back of the bolt carrier. You can look up Rob Ski’s 1,000 round update videos on that rifle to see what I mean.
do you think a steel bushing would have helped reinforce the stock?
Fuck if I know, I only did enough research to find a stock replacement and to see wither a WASR was a good buy or not.
AK of choice for r/AK47
Just buy a AR15.
THE worst AK variant ever made.
Still available plenty of places sub-$650
dahlonegaarmory.com
how does it compare to a romanian 63 in quality?
>Preban Saigas
Hard to find. I have one, manufactured in 93, imported by B-West. They came with the long barrel but mine is now AK-fied with cut down and threaded barrel. Also has a legit Russian triangle side folding stock. Even had the side holes (from old Saiga style stock welded closed.)
To be fair, the prices have not really gone up too much when you account for inflation, and the fact that they seem to have put a lot of money into quality control the past few years.
Get a norinco or a Valmet instead
Props if you managed to dig up a Maadi or a VEPR
Not as good as based Yugo
It has a chrome hammer forged barrel that should outlast you. AKs are crazy expensive now in the US and the WASR is still cheap enough while being made to mil-spec by a company that sells weapons to actual militaries.
The downside is you don't get dimples, the furniture should be replaced but that's easy and milsurp wood is cheap enough. The parkerized finish wears off pretty easily if you don't keep it wet with oil, but IMO AKs are cool looking with the finish worn off.
Are Wasrs even worth getting anymore? For 100-200 dollarydoos more you can get a decent Saiga or Norinco
Best "cheap" ak on the market, doesnt have magwell dimples and got rekt on the ak meltdown vid
>gun not designed for full auto fire
>dump auto sear into it
>oh wow it failed
science niggas
>a decent Saiga or Norinco
In the US those will be very used.
Grab an Arsenal SLR107R. The Parker finish , lack of dimple, and reddit tier memes really made it one of the easiest guns I wanted to get rid of. Its fine for what it is, but ... eh..
broken clocks, twice a day, etc
>lack of dimple
>didn't see the spot-welded plate on the inside
They're good rifles. Arsenals are great too, but get a WASR first
>buy century wasr
>75% chance it will be a good weapon and outlive you
>25% chance it will be shit and you'll have buyers remorse, but you can sell it to a dumb friend that will enjoy it because muh ak47 hollywood terrist gun
I have an older import gp 10/63uf, probably one of my favorite guns, you really can't go wrong, they just work.
And yeah I know the gas l tube lever is too far down in this pic
Find a SAR-1 instead.
>Tells him to find priciest AK
I mean, I used to own a select-fire Valmet M71, They’re fantastic. But that’s not what he’s looking for.
I just bought WASR 10 this last week. Still don't have nice red wood yet.
>overpriced as hell
>Preban Saigas, Veprs, and Norincos
>if you are willing to pay.
good god you are no better than the retards paying 300 for a mosin
why tho? Why not just buy once, cry once?
Any help? Got my tax returns and I really wanna buy this rifle. When should I buy this? Any chance the price will drop in the future?
Might as well get it now before dems get back in the white house
>Find a SAR-1 instead
>EXACT same gun but with dimples
>Except it's 16 years old at the absolute minimum instead of new from the factory.
>Any chance the price will drop in the future?
loving every laugh
I used to own one, fantastic gun. Just make sure you buy a post-2014 production gun, swap out the crappy furniture and (optionally) apply an epoxy based paint over the park to keep it from scratching up. Romanian park sucks, lol. Also, don't pay more than $600 for one.
Anyways! It was a straight shooter, had zero cant, never had a hang up, etc. I ended up selling it for $850 with a ton of mags on Gunjoker (oy vey) and bought a SLR-106FR with the cash, lmao.
Even though I'm an Arsenal snob now, I still have a soft spot for that WASR! Great gun.
You sound like a poorfag.
Keep your tax return in case your car ever breaks down
I'm mad at you for doing what you did. But I respect the hustle.
Here it was before.
Keep in mind that you will end up spending as much as you would on a nice Arsenal AK in time & money to get your WASR looking decent. But if you don't care about looks and want a decent Commie built AK, WASR's are g2g.
But if you want a rifle that is g2g from the factory, pony up the $200 you would have spent on furniture, slings, etc...get an Arsenal.
Hahahah, past me would have been mad too. I used to be one a WASRfags who talked mad shit on Arsenal AK's.
"Who would ever spend THAT much on an AK?"
Now I own said SLR-106FR and a SAM7-SF84R.
Probably not. AK market isn't exactly thriving in the US. You'd be better off converting a Vepr, buying Arsenal, WBP, or finding a cheap second hand MAK Maadi ect. Or if you're good enough do a build from parts. Veprs are dank but heavy.
I will say though -- while Arsenal AK's hold a little more quality over WASR's, it isn't much. They're a little smoother and more refined...but not by much (except for the SAM7, it's buttery). Arsenal seriously needs to fix it's CS and canting issues. If my old $600 WASR was straight -- I expect my $1K+ Arsenal to be as well. I don't care if some canting is "milspec", they need to all be straight. Fortunately, I was able to inspect my 106FR before buying.
Last pic, just trying to bump the thread up.
Found a brand new one for $500 which is insanely cheap for WASRs at the time. Is a great gun. Wood furniture sucks though.
What red dot is that?????
Jow Forums is an adult only board
ok mr. adult, but you didn't answer my childish ?.
Not checking the weapon before you buy
