To give you a real answer I would say go to an MMA gym

That was just 9mm.

Should just do all of these for the best results

>Gun
>Running
>Knife fighting
>Boxing (until you can run)
>American wrestling (so you know how to stay off the ground)

In that order.

Gun & running. also, boxing + judo will make you pretty well-rounded. after you get good at those, krav maga if you really want to

Martial arts aren't for self defence.

Taking on two people unarmed no matter the martial art or number of years doing, you're going to have a bad time.

Situational awareness is number one.
Parkour / running away is number two.
Getting weapons and friends with weapons is number three.

The off chance you are caught with your pants down. You need to strike HARD and FAST and RUN.

Only other option is if you already have friends with weapons and it is your job to capture non lethality / control.

Everything else is drunk teenage monkey dance crap, showing off to get better "street cred"

Tldr;
Join a MMA gym with legit fighters.

Judo

Throws create distance; distance gives you options. Never ever pretzel up with someone. Throw them down, back up and draw your piece or take the opportunity to escape.

>Jujitsu / judo is the most legit art around.

Only issue is it takes minimum of 3 years to get the basics down. Brazilian Jujitsu is just distilled for the modern time where it is better to control a single person the best you can ( with back up or a ref close by).

Older jujitsu's thought processes is take the other dudes weapon and use it against him, and or kill him as fast as possible.

Strikes to distract, armlocks for disarming, throws to kill/KO, chokes kill. Move his body close to you to as a sheild.

Only down side is with out learning striking you are clueless to anyone who throws a punch. Along with the time to learn and develop these skills.Jujitsu is mainly a back up to your primary and secondary weapons. Also old jujitsu is only Kata, as most of the moves WRECK you're body ( it is better to keep training everyday).

Legit.

Krav is just MMA with focus. Better to work on a single basic skills first ( striking and grappling).

>Only issue is it takes minimum of 3 years to get the basics down

Well you only got your whole life to learn.

Wing Chun

Learn real boxing and jujitsu. Combine both in a fight based on what is most appropriate. Everything else is bullshit.

Anyone who says anything other than MMA is both a retard and a fucking faggot

MMA isn't a martial art you retard and/or faggot. It's a competition with no limits on style or technique.

Get some stoppin powah

Assuming you are a felon and don't want to run because ego/retardation get some Muay Thai, nobody stands back up after an elbow to the nose

>MMA
>Get mugged in the street
>Instantly drop on the floor and try kicking his dick.

Boxing and wrestling.

This

>with no limits on style or technique.
Muh eye gouge, throat punch and ball kick

Were legal in the first several tournaments.

Best single martial art is likely muay thai: teaches you to deal with all stand up hits and gives you a base of throws and clinch technique.
Martial arts combo would be still a muay thai base, but adding boxing, judo and maybe bjj. I'm iffy on bjj because if you're teaching self defense focusing on ground fighting seems counter-productive.
Best defense is still running away tho (or weapons).

Barely matters as long as it features heavy sparring, you need to learn how to not be shocked by simply being in a fight. As long as you're aware, somewhat fit and know how to fight without hurting yourself more than the opponent you're probably fine (as in won't end up dead).
Once the other guy is on a similar level it's completely up in the air again. Worse if he has a knife or even a gun.

>Kickboxing
Lmao

Thisx1000

you can literally go to an MMA gym and take MMA classes

What separates kyokushin from other types of karate?
Is it practically any different from kickboxing or muay thai?

kyokushin has a full contact competition style. The problem is it doesnt allow punches above the shoulder

Those classes generally aren't for beginners, they're for experienced fighters who are now training how to put their grappling and striking together and also competitive strategies for in the cage. Most MMA gyms will also have specific martial arts classes (bjj, kickboxing, muay thai etc.) For the newbies to take.

I'm willing to bet you don't train at an MMA gym.

Ive trained at a few. The MMA classes are usually ok for beginners (though maybe not day 1 beginners)

As someone else said, boxing/wrestling is a solid rounded combo.

If I'm weak and out of shape, should I pick up a striking or grappling art first to start?
Or should I lift and get in better shape before starting?

start whichever one you feel like starting. most people are out of shape when they start so dont even worry about that

This was my thought process when deciding on which martial art to do.
t. Judoka

Catch wrestling. All pain all the time, accept no substitutes.

good luck finding it anywhere

CQC.
No one will expect the throws and sweeps and “you’re pretty good”

Please don't fall for the jewish nut slapping Krav Maga meme.

It's got a pretty good rep among police forces. It's good for disabling an enemy with minimal force. It's a pretty practical martial art. Uses every dirty trick in the book to win.

Most police officers don't actually know how to fight either. Also

>It's good for disabling an enemy with minimal force

That's literally the opposite of what krav maga professes to be. Krav fags pride themselves on overwhelming superior force but fail to realize people don't get stun locked in real life.

This.
It's literal "Women's self-defense" tier garbage designed to be taught to IDF conscripts.

>tfw kyokushin hasn't been on for last two weeks

I miss it :(

How many times does this have to be asked? The first UFC had no rules and bjj came out on top against other styles. Some variation of:

Boxing
Kickboxing (includes karate, muay thai)
Wrestling
Jiu jitsu
Judo

Pick one and get good at a real gym training irl, watching YouTube videos isn't going to do shit

All of that was legal in the first UFC''s and in vale tudo, muh dirty shots are not very effective cause they are pain dependent, with adrenaline and rage pain is not reliable. Knocking someone out, disabling their limbs, or strangling them works 100% cause they are guaranteed to be disabled or incapacitated. Muh nut kick does nothing. The only dirty shot with any legitimacy in a real fight is an eye gouge but it''s a gimmick

This or JKD. Our JKD class is basically MMA with a focus on "dirty tactics" for street, and with a lot of kali thrown in for weapons (stick and knife). If it works we use it. Also buy a fucking gun and hit the range

This. Unironically.

Fights are stupid and extremely unpredictable and extremely dangerous and you should do everything you can to avoid them. All the training in the world isn't going to do anything when somebody's buddy bashes you over the head with a pool cue while you're trying to box his idiot friend. Same with BJJ. While you're rolling on the ground trying to put some dipshit into a rear naked, his friend might be rushing over to stomp on your head.

Train martial arts because they're fun/keep you in shape/center you/whatever, but don't rely on them for protection.

you have never been in a real fight have you, kid?

youtube.com/watch?v=ymN07p_-CGA

Does this work in real life?

Attached: hqdefault.jpg (480x360, 14K)

They can absolutely give you an advantage in a fight but yeah dont rely on them 100% to save you. That said why is it always their friends that jump in but not mine?

No, because something you never practiced for real (for obvious reasons) is never gonna work in a crisis situation.

>hat said why is it always their friends that jump in but not mine?
I thought about then when I was writing. I think it's because self-defense scenarios always posit situation where you don't have back-up. Better sell for the product, I suppose. I mean, your need for individual self-defense training is inversely related to how deep you roll.

>pipe bomb
I guess he can't kill you if you kill both him and you

Every martial art is CQC

Jeet Kun Do isn't really a martial art, but a philosophy of fighting.

CQC is just a combination of judo, boxing, and karate, but while holding weapons.

This nigga gets it. I'd go one further and say JKD is Bruce Lee's personal philosophy only. Anybody claiming to "teach" JKD is flinging bullshit against the wall and seeing what sticks (sells) because the output of the JKD "philosophy" is literally just modern MMA.

Fortunately, all the JKD fags are old ass bombers and this Bruce Lee JKD shit can die with them.

I'm not sure where you're from, but there are a couple of schools within driving distance in my area. It's certainly not as popular as generic karate or MMA, but there are plenty of recognized schools out there.

they do if you punch them in the balls

Ok, bud, if you say so

youtu.be/eFdfYnigKRk

No, this is movie shit. The only reference I've seen to this type of movement was in old school japanese jujutsu book that recommended tw8sting the neck like that to escape a bear hug. However, it never claimed you could break the neck like that. In general breaking the neck horizontally is extremely difficult
The only realistic neck break I've ever seen referenced is done on the Y axis and came out of a wwii combatIves manual.

youtu.be/yxeSIxMXIxg

Just searching this is the closest example to what I've seen before but even this I'd still be skeptical of.
