Basically the Marawi siege was suppose to be bigger than the actual battle till it got botched by a raid from the police, but this triggered the siege sooner than it was expected as they were following intel on capturing a high value targets. they were forced into a trap and not knowing the entire city was armed to kill the military raiding the compound then the rest of it unfolds.
