300 win mag with m2ap projectile. I saw it on a video it zips past lv4 ceramic armor. 165 grain hard steel projectile at 3000+ fps..
m193 will defeat lv3 steel armor out of a 20 inch ar, which pushes the bullet(55gr lead) at 3050 fps.

Yeah, you don't necessarily have to penetrate. Just transfer enough energy to them that all their organs turn to mush.

False

Energy transfers regardless of what it's made of. Its literally one of the basic laws of physics.

Energy transfers to your shoulder too, nerd. But it transfers at different rates, and in the case of ceramic plates, sideways along cracks instead of into the body.

Holy shit. Fucking brainlet. It spreads to the plate, which has the surface area of your chest. Which pushes against your whole chest. The deformation is minimal to not even that great. You're mixing up Kevlar soft vests with plate vests.

>Energy transfers regardless of what it's made of. Its literally one of the basic laws of physics.
A rifle bullet hit the target with about the same energy then the gun imparts on the firer's shoulder (slightly less, in fact), and yet getting shot *in* the shoulder with is decidedly more traumatic than shooting *from* the shoulder. Explain that. Once you can explain it, you'lll understand why simple energy transfer to a solid plate is insufficient to "turn organs to mush".

you're telling me that M193, not even 855, can beat lvl3 Steel armor? That seems a little ridiculous, got a source?
Cooper Perez
will the new 6.8 and 6.5 CT loads penetrate level 4?
Jace Hill
Speed has more to do with defeating armor than a mild steel penetrater. M193 only beats a few types of level 3 steels and some companies make a level 3+ just for it.
It should be a quick google m8
Joshua Ross
if the projectile has a tungsten penetrator, sure
gonna be replacing barrels pretty frequently, but them's the breaks

I'm curious how the M2 projectile will penetrate with even hotter loadings. In 300 win mag it will go through lvl IV. What about in a .300 RUM, or .30-378 Weatherby?
Jordan Jones
> doesn't knock down
Nothing short of a .50 will really 'push' someone over, but with a higher-brass shell you will definitely break some ribs, knock air out of their lungs and squish a few organs, more than enough to take them out of the fight unless they're hopped up on stims.

it'll bounce around the body, especially since the armor will block it from creating an exit wound
Aiden Thompson
Can anyone explain how the "bounce around in your skull" idea got misunderstood as "bounce around in your body"? Is is something you memers do on purpose to try and be funny? Or is this a classic example of the 'telephone game' aka Chinese Whispers?

Christ almighty. I just looked that up. Apparently they were getting 5000....6000 fps out of some kind of super-light bullets in military testing? I wonder what kind of AP performance that will have. that's just insane.

It never changed. I have heard fudds saying this since at least the 1980s. It was never just the head, so far as I know.

When will brainlets learn that the energy of a round hitting someone is about the same as the energy that hits the shooter of said round.
Thomas Gonzalez
It came from the head. That's the origin of the meme: .22LR to the back of the skull, execution style....which makes at least SOME sense given that a bullet could bounce off of bone.
Yet somehow this changed to "body" rather than "skull". I'm curious if this was deliberately done for humorous purposes, or if it was a detail that got confused as the meme spread between people. It sounds like it was the latter. Clearly nobody was making funny internet memes in 1980.
Liam King
You abalist scum, people without legs or feet can don body armor too!!!!!
Nolan Foster
Physics is hard
Julian Gray
>Yet somehow this changed to "body" rather than "skull".
The first time I heard an iteration of this it was "ping pongs inside your rib cage". This was before I ever heard about the skull version.
>I'm curious if this was deliberately done for humorous purposes, or if it was a detail that got confused
My vote is retardation and not humor. I did not hear this being ironically stated until several years ago.
>It sounds like it was the latter.
That's your opinion.
>Clearly nobody was making funny internet memes in 1980.
Fudds have been making themselves ridiculous for over a century; hence the fact that the Jews made millions of dollars off of ridiculing them in their cartoons. Fudds being retarded has no anchor point in the internet age.
Andrew Moore
Damn...
Easton Young
>The first time I heard an iteration of this it was "ping pongs inside your rib cage". This was before I ever heard about the skull version.
Same here. But the skull version seems like the logical source of the meme, since that's the one application where there might actually be a "bounce-around inside" scenario. The other examples sound like the result of retardation applied to that.
>>That's your opinion.
Indeed it is, though it sounds like we agree. You voted for retardation and not humor as well.
>>Fudds being retarded has no anchor point in the internet age.
Exactly, that was my point too.

gotta SLAP a bitch sometimes
Luis Torres
It's been a long time since I researched SLAP, but I though that while the .50 SLAP worked great, the .30 version failed hard because the penetrators would exit the side of the barrel?
Sebastian Stewart
It's the same energy as goes into your shoulder. Against the plate, the mass of the plate absorbs energy, and the area of the plate against your chest disperses the remaining energy over a larger surface area. Not to mention clothes and gear as well as your ribcage itself eating up energy.
Logan Cook
>no problem
Not quite. Under 25 yards maybe depending on achieved velocity, but beyond that it wont reliably do it from a 16" barrel or shorter; 50 yards and out it will not with a single shot.
Xavier Kelly
Is M2AP steel core? And can it pen lvl 4 in a .308?
Charles Gutierrez
>Is M2AP steel core?
Yes
> And can it pen lvl 4 in a .308?
If it cant penetrate level 4 in 30-06 which is throwing it faster, why would it penetrate in 308?
