I know that you can fire .410 gauge out of single shot .45-70 rifles, but I wouldn't want to deal with extraction issues in a levergun if I ever attempted that. You could probably tuck a .410 load into a .45-70 case though, and it'd work fine for foraging small game and killing snakes.

Anything really. At Trapdoor level loads with a heavy cast bullet it's a great SMALLER game rifle, and deer/hog gun. You can take the 45-70 up to some serious power levels even in a Marlin 1895 action and anchor anything that roams North America. There aren't many calibers out there that have the versatility the 45-70 has, especially if you load for it.

there is a company by the name "Accurate Molds" that makes a bullet mold for the Garret hammerhead round which has found notably success in africa against Water Buffalo which are arguably tougher and mean than virtually anything you'd find in North America. Personally though I ordered the 340grain instead of the full sized 560 bullet mold just to see how it preforms on white trail before spemding another $110 on the fullsized 460-560 mold.

Australia isn't trying to ban lever actions. A few years ago, there was some controversy about the Adler A110 with 11 rounds in the mag and some states limited this mag to 5. There was never a push to ban lever action or even lever release rifles, they seem to be focused on shotguns.
Except lever actions are allowed in all 3 of those countries.
