Well some triple A publishers can afford the licenses. I can't think of the last big name title that had real modern guns. I know EA doesn't do it anymore.

Some pay for licencing and others just take the risk and assume that companies don't want the bad PR of taking them to court.
Battlefield was paying them until there was an article about "dice give your kids money to evil arms manufactures" and then they stopped paying and basically dared companies to sue them because of the PR shtistorm.

I cant handle mods that dont have the vanilla art style or proportions to them. It kills me.
Especially when they get they get the damage wrong or not in line with vanilla weapons/ other mods

Agreed, had so many good times playing wasteland with my buddies. I remember this one time we were attacking a base built around the church at novy sobor in an Apache, we managed to get low and close enough to trigger the repair and rearm function from the ammo and repair trucks. Man good memories

What have people been up to in ARMA lately?

we normally run RACS, on Sahrani -- our favorite terrain. We jumped to Unsung for a while, nothing beats nam, a very very good standalone mod.

But lately we've been in Africa killing blue helmets as niggers. Sometimes we do Rhodie stuff but, defending positions against Blue Helmets has been so much more satisfying. We've prolly bagged an entire company of the fuckers so far.

Now Arma 2 is dead, I have no friends to play with and I don't like Arma 3. Am I doomed to fuck around in the mission editor for the rest of my life? Arma 3 just doesn't feel the same to me, it feels TOO polished and streamlined if that makes sense.

I downloaded the RHS Russian Armed forces mod for Arma 2 (two). They look like the same models used in Arma 3, so high quality. Got to use them to replace the default BIS Russian soldiers too.

Assuming you mean Operation Arrowhead/Combined Operations. This. This. This. I fucking love Arma 2. It seems like just a technical advancement of the original Operation Flashpoint, which is exactly what I wanted. Arma 3 seems more like a tactical shooter than a sim.

Anyone know of any scenarios of just general infantry units executing a mission? I only have so many hours in the day, and making a good scenario is very time consuming. Yet on the workshop all i can find are the super spooky spec ops crazy action movie type garbage. The dynamic ops missions are close, but because they're dynamically generated they lack character.

War thunder is just a shitty shill game where you pay money or grind for hundreds of hours for some shitty tank that gets 1 shot because the armor isn't angled. And then a T-34 takes a direct hit from a 100mm and it bounces.

I can run it. I told you I think it's too polished and streamlined. I don't like the movement, it feels too much like I'm playing any other first person shooter. The graphics as well just look "good" but generic. I tried to enjoy it for about 30 hours before just going back to Arma 2.

I miss the teamwork base building attacking/defending and playing on independent was actually hard to do.

I don't really care for your analogy. Left 4 dead 2 was really just left 4 dead 1 but with new characters new levels and all the stuff from the previous game. Where as Arma 3 adds all kinds of movement options and an entire new set of vehicles and weapons that are entire works of fiction. On top of that, I really liked the Eastern European setting of Arma 2. Something feels off about playing Arma 3, I can never quite place it but I'll always enjoy the game play of Arma 2 more.

Dont ever play with random people in MP, thats just garbage and allways will be. Just play it with a bunch of friends or find a group instead.

Also, I can sort understand what you mean (I feel the same if I switch from Arma 3 to say Battlefield), but I got used to A3 from A2 really quickly.

Its extremely grindy too, so you have to spend hundreds of dollars or hours to get the vehicles you actually want to play.

The oldschool Battle Royale modes in Arma 2 and 3 were fun as shit though because they had emphasis on more tactical "milsim™" style gameplay and lasted a lot longer, as well as having armored vehicles in them.
