I just saw four of these fighter jets flying low (probably 500 feet or so) in a like in the sky over my apartment and am wondering if any of you kind anons could help me with identifying them. At first I thought a plane was aboht to smash into my apartment, the roar was so loud. It definitely woke me up a bit.
Yeah they definitely didnt look like F22/35, too old. It was pretty incredible how basically silent they were until they were right near me. Thanks.

Those are F-16's with a Thunderbirds paint job.
Brayden Wilson
Just when you think it can't get any louder, it does. They're so fucking cool
Jaxson White
Easy to approach silently when your max speed is twice the speed of sound
Liam Roberts
F-16s. Last pic looks like Thunderbirds livery.
Jaxson Carter
Except for the part where they weren't going supersonic
Joshua Price
That's the air forces thunderbirds
Tyler Morgan
They were definitely subsonic but a few minutes afterward (I assume once they were over the nearby mountains) I heard what I think were sonic booms.
Ian Young
If they were going supersonic that low over you then your windows would shatter and you'd hear a super fucking loud boom. The FAA and military both prohibit supersonic flight in any US airspace except for predesignated ranged out in the desert/ocean.

If they're going anywhere near Mach 1 you won't hear them till they're on you, just how sound works.
Samuel Cook
If they were cruising enroute to somewhere then they would be flying at around 300 knots or 0.5 mach, because that's their FAA speed limit (normally 250 knots but most fighters get it waived to 300 for maneuverability). If it was show practice then I'd doubt they would go any faster than 450-500 knots, around 0.8 mach. It's really hard to go supersonic at sea level because of the heavy air resistance.
Thunderbirds were in Phoenix for the NASCAR race, probably transiting to their next show spot.
Ethan Jones
This.

J-20. We've surrendered. It's over.
James Roberts
Faceberg indicates Thunderbirds are doing flyovers for the Captain Marvel premier.
Charles Peterson
Yep researched this myself a little ways after making the thread but still appreciate the Jow Forumsommando prowess at properly identifying military aircraft
Jacob White
F-16s yes, but not Thunderbirds. Zoom in. They're wearing black/white/gray camo.
Justin Robinson
No, it is the Thunderbirds, local news reported on it
